Suspect steals necklace off woman at Coney Island bus stop

CONEY ISLAND (WABC) --
Police are searching for the suspect who was caught on video ripping a chain off a woman at a bus stop in Brooklyn and it was all caught on tape.

The incident happened on July 18th on Mermaid Avenue and West 31st street in Coney Island.

Police say the suspect approached the 54-year-old victim at the bus stop and ripped her necklace off before the victim fell on her face.

The suspect fled and the victim was taken to Coney Island Hospital and treated for a laceration on her head.

The suspect is described as a black male in his 30's, 5'7", 160 lbs. last seen wearing a white shirt, dark shorts and white sneakers.

EAST NEW YORK (WABC) --
Police are searching for the suspect who shot a man at point-blank range on a Brooklyn sidewalk Sunday night.

According to investigators, the gunman walked up to his victim on Stanley Avenue in East New York and shot him in the face, then fled the scene.

The wounded man managed to stagger back and run away. The victim, 41, is in critical condition at Brookdale Hospital.

The suspect is described as a male black, approximately 6'3" tall, weighing 230 lbs., with brown eyes and close cut black hair. He was last seen wearing a white tee shirt and blue jeans.

MIDWOOD, N.Y. (WABC) --
Police in Brooklyn are searching for two men who attacked a woman in the elevator of her apartment building.

On Sunday around 9:40 p.m. in Midwood, the victim was walking into her apartment building's elevator when the two suspects followed her in, then pulled her the ground.

Surveillance video shows the two punching and kicking her, then stealing her purse before fleeing on foot.

"I've lived in this building for seven years. I've lived in the neighborhood all my life. Nothing like this has ever happened before like this," said
neighbor Jean Silver.

One suspect, 20 to 25 years of age, was wearing a black T-shirt and multi-colored pants. The other is in his late teens to early 20s, weighs 240 pounds and was wearing an orange T-shirt, beige shorts and a backpack.

"Just always be aware of what's around you and just be on guard," said neighbor Anabelle Brovshteyn. "It's just disgusting that people have to live in fear like that."

Cops are on the hunt for gutless thieves in South Brooklyn who were caught on camera viciously robbing defenseless women in broad daylight before sprinting away.

Shocking new videos show two cowards pummeling a teenage girl in Midwood for her purse and another creep in Coney Island knocking a 54-year-old woman face down onto the sidewalk after stealing her jewelry.

“They are like cockroaches,” Coney Island resident Allan Spektor, 18, said of the tape-recorded muggers. “You kill a couple, and then more come back.”

A pair of goons dragged the 18-year-old out of her Midwood apartment elevator by her hair Sunday, then punched and kneed her in the head for 45 seconds until they wrenched her purse away, cops said.

The thugs, who had followed their victim into the building, jogged away after the brutal beating, according to newly released surveillance video.

The first man, who cops say weighs about 240 pounds, ran ahead, tossing a bag into the bushes outside as his friend followed a few steps behind.

The woman was treated at Coney Island Hospital for extreme bruising around her eye.

A different cold-blooded crook opened a gash on a 54-year-old woman's head after he snatched her necklace from behind and dragged her face onto the sidewalk, cops said.

She was waiting for a bus on July 18 near the corner of Mermaid Ave. and W. 31st St. when the attack happened.

The woman, who was treated at Coney Island Hospital, can be seen rolling over into a seated position after the robbery and holding her face in her hands.

Neighbors in her apartment building were appalled by mugging.

“You don't want nobody to do that to your grandmother,” neighbor Franklin McFarland, 28, said. “I'm shocked that happened around here. Here it's pretty peaceful.”

A couple of good Samaritans chased after the thief, cops said, but he escaped and is still on the loose.

Police say the man is 5-feet-7, 160 pounds and in his 30s.
