Adam Silver: The pay TV system is broken, the NBA has to do more to attract younger viewers

The NBA is missing 2 of their top 5 players in Curry and Durant and the #1 pick Zion...

PG13, Kyrie, Victor O.... Alot of early injuries....

All of those early N.O. and G.S. games killed the month of National TV games...

All this is true but the problem he’s talking about ain’t started with this season.

Ain't nothing wrong with the length of the season. Either your a fan of the game or you aren't. Me personally I hate the fact they would have the same teams on every week. Also like someone said. The majority of the talent is on the west coast and that's a no go for an east coast person like myself. Also get rid of Hubie Brown and the woman That does the espn games

Shit I’m kool with Hubie Brown, let him do the NBA on NBC Sunday games....

Lebron choosing the lakers killed my viewing.
I went from watch damn near every game in Miami and Cleveland to four last year in La.

I get up at 3:30am so them late games tough.
Shit when the lakers played the pelicans it was a 8:30pm game, man we didn’t get home until after 12am.

so I do understand the time problems...

who wanted to watch Kawhi and the raptors...

now him and the clippers probably get plenty of views(only to tune in and he don’t dress out)

This is valid as hell because think of all the sideline incidents the past few years with white dudes chirping hella reckless at players. Definitely been an uptick and Silver’s worst nightmare is one of the players going Ron-Ron again and it’s :itsawrap: . But these sideline bros are egging it on and eventually that privilege card is going to be revoked because these boys have money and can afford to lose a bit to put an end to the in-game bullshit.
:hmm:

The Knicks suck and they still play them on tnt. So yeah. It does make a difference. They got this Nicca Zion playing in the god damn woods someplace with some witch doctors fucking getting hurt every game. Ad 2.0.

Half of the league has played on TNT.

This is not 1995, you don't need him to be in New York to be a draw, Lebron James did two stints in Cleveland and is this generations most famous player. If that the fucking case the NBA would have fixed the draft for him to be drafted by New York and the suits in Secaucus know more about this than both of us.

Your mindset is part of the reason why the NBA is in the state it's in now, just stack all the best talent in the big markets and fuck the rest and people have gotten tired of that predictable shit along with everything else.

In New Orleans, Zion has a low-pressure, low expectation environment and can heal up, get healthy and think about getting his weight in check.

In New York, your media would be probably rushing him back too fast and would be placing championship expectations on his ass before year damn 1.

And you're still talking that medical staff bullshit when it's been documented that the entire franchise's medical staff and front office is different from last year. That nigga got hurt because he's 285 and coming down with the force of an anvil. No doctor anywhere can prevent an injury when that's your weight and playing style.

Ratings are affected by time zones no doubt; and superstar players affect ratings; but the reality is there is too many games to have consistently high ratings; its not possible in this day and age with the current rating module; if they want higher ratings, the only solution is to cut games; and the end of the day all of the other shit is just fodder......

The NBA has had 82 game season for dam n near 4 decades and people watch... Hell back in the days it was an extremely limited amount of games and teams you could see , yet people watch... Most people could only watch a local team if you had 1, maybe a tnt game, and maybe an nbc game during the weekend... This was majority of people in America... If you were lucky like cali, ny, Texas you were able to see multiple teams play during the season but even than you didn't have access to all games... Only some people when it was available got NBA access where you had shitloads of games... Now we in the era of the internet where we could watch every game you want..yet ratings are down... Cause the NBA created a narrative of only a few people stories and made the NBA about them instead of the sport... Old school fans love the sport.. The new fans who the NBA try to catered to only love the few individuals who the NBA told stories about.. Nba killed its on product... I told people this was gonna happen.. I said when certain individuals retire or fall off watch that demographic completely disappear and it's happening.. Lol I knew it

But the nba been trying to spread the luv. The last years of David Stern he made it a goal to not have the face of the nba just one person.

man at the end of the day, Magic, Larry, Mike, Shaq, Kobe, Lebron....are just different

we gotta let the youthmen do the best they can, far as carrying the league....

all that competing against the NFL and expanding they out China, African etc ain’t paying(well don’t seem like, if his ass Is complaining)

what is it? I know Curry made the nba not fun. I like the old school drive to the basket style. All that 3 shooting sucks to me. NBA ain’t been like able since Bron was in Miami and Kobe in LA.

Curry was spectacularly fun. The imitators are ruining it.

Three point contests are less fun than real basketball games, especially when the shots are not falling.

Get rid of all the boomer play by play/ color analysts.
Most of them sound ridiculous

I really doubt announcers have that much of an impact on ratings.

I actually like JVG & Mark Jackson, but I've never gone over to somebody's house to watch a game because of the three man crew or seen a match-up advertised and thought "That looks like a great game but I won't watch because so and so will be an analyst."

The thing about achieving a very broad audience is everyone's tastes can't be catered to. You'd probably prefer a Desus & Mero vibe but more people would hate on that than the status quo. (Again, in the end, it probably matters very little either way.)

I'm talking about the local crews not the national telecasts
Idk who desus and metro are

All the best players are playing in LA.
lebron. AD
kawahi. PG

Because that's in their best interest! Not the NBA's! The point was that the small market owners do not want or benefit from such a set up.

And obviously the four players you named are not "all the best players" (PG, GTFOH) and you conveniently ignore NY having none of the best players.

Sooooo. Ain’t it the trainers job to get him down in weight not up. Nicca got fatter.
mans don’t compare him to no other rookies that need worry about that themselves just to stay in the league. Not the same. That’s box office.

At this point the overall interest trumps that.
And no not ignoring. Just poked a lil hole in your statement with some sarcasm.
And those are the 4 best players.

Duece this shit gave me the chills, even tho I knew what was about to come on...
Man when this theme song and intro came on, my entire household would shut down and head to the TV.
They don't have basketball games like this anymore.
I miss this era of the NBA. :(

Where is your proof, apart from the eye ball test that he got fatter?

Are you looking at his scales?

You're coming from an emotional state with this shit

You want him in New York but since he aint you just wanna trash him

Not trashing him. Just trashing the team he stuck with. I feel sorry for the kid.
and the Only thing a scale will help you with is the decimals. His weight gain is fucking obvious

So you actually think the New York Knicks is a better situation?

Than the pelicans?? Hell to the yeah.

That makes no sense.

The Knicks just fired their coach and have horrible ownership and stars are avoiding them like the Sterling era Clippers.

The Pelicans and Gayle Benson actually listened to her critics and made changes, turning over nearly the entire front office and medical staff and built new facilities.

These are noted facts not emotional rants.

I said the pelicans. Most stars avoided it. But none never ran from it.
It’s only a few teams worst. And pelicans is one of them.
And a new medical staff don’t mean better apparently

Paul George is a top 4 NBA player? Okay, have a good night, don't set yourself on fire with whatever you're smoking.

All 4 are the best 2 way players in the game.
harden. Trash. Choke master.
greek freak. Single handedly shut done by the claw.
Kd. Great scorer? Yes. Player?? I ain’t seen it yet. He proved about as much as javelle McGee did in golden state to me.
And not to mention. Kd is in ny.

Damn what was I thinking.
Kd Also. Ny.
I don’t consider him the best player. But I’ll give him best scorer.

Look it’s was 11pm and the lakers vs blazers was only at half....
I watched as much as I could, didn’t have to work in the morning....

default

Nba is predictable... Same teams pretty much was guaranteed to be in the finals... They only highlighted a few players... Nba went from a 30 team game into let's only talk about 5 teams... I don't want to be specific cause this will go 10+ pages if I did.. But when you only highlight certain players and people only are invested in those players what happens when they fall off, retire, or get injured?.. The NBA did it to itself...burn bitch burn... It's the NBA not only a few people story... Nba tried to cater to a demographic of not loyal fan base and forgot about the real fans of the game...it turned the real fans off and now that demographic that isn't loyal is leaving so now you left with nothing
It's predictable and it looks fixed. You see blatant traveling calls right in front of you that I can see from my goddamn TV and the referee is there sitting right there and doesn't call shit

There is an Instagram page dedicated entirely to blatant travels

the only game I've watched all year was a game I got free tickets to go down to the Cavs game and I left at halftime. I aint watching this bullshit
