Because of this post, I got about 100 people hooked on KhanAcademy.org (as well as them now knowing that there is a PORN board out there where people get together and do math!) :D

multiply or divide from left to right, not right to left , close thread.

I'm glad some of y'all know to handle parentheses first

It can be either one since its ambiguous. Someone said the person who wrote it has 2 as the answer. But can been seen another way depending how you was taught.....wait I already explained this

You're a year late guy.. The Mathematician that started this says the answer is 2.

The answer is 288 only if it's written like this...

(48 ÷ 2) * (9 + 3) = 288

I want to change my answer just plug this shit into Python and it said 288. I'm rolling with Python on this one. :cool:

Order of Operations

PEMDAS

P-Parentheses first
E-Exponents (ie Powers and Square Roots, etc.)
MD-Multiplication and Division (left-to-right)
AS-Addition and Subtraction (left-to-right)

48/2(9+3) = x

48/2(12) = x

24(12) = x

288 = x

:cool:

The answer was 2 last year, and it's still 2 now.....

NOW STOP POSTING FUCKING MATH PROBLEMS ON A PORN BOARD!!!!!

Sent from my SPH-D710 using Xparent ICS Blue Tapatalk 2

My answer is 2. If memory serves me correct , not only do you have to do whats in parenthesis first, but also you have to remove the parethesis from the equation ( meaning do that part of the equation next ) which makes it 2. But I'm not that certain.:confused::( Who in here has kids doing that math that can answer this?

You do the 9+3 first. 12

You then do 48/2. 24.

Then 24*12. 288

this was a sad. sad. sad day for BGOL-IA :smh:
still funny tho :lol::lol::lol:
Still waiting for the special ones to justify this. I would also like to point to the ignorance of the idiot who asked this question, thinking that it would justify the answer being 2.

:lol::lol::lol::lol:

No wiggle room, negro. Not a single bit!

dude you are doing the order of operations wrong... everything after the division sign is one term... what you are doing is the equivalent of putting your pants over your head and saying "see I told you it was a hat"
:lol:
