I'm from South Louisiana...born & raised and the attitude here is: if you expect to eat then you need to know how to cook. Period.

Women down here can really burn in the kitchen but in lots of families, esp. mine, men do most if the cooking...we take pride in it too.

My dad, my brothers and uncles can really throw down with the cast iron. I be on the grill and in the oven.
