2026 Chicago Bears Season Thread

This is where not having an effective pass rush from the defensive line bites you in the ass. When your most effective pass rush is coming from the secondary, top flight quarterbacks are eventually going to pick you apart.
Yup. Bush got absolutely outclassed on thar touchdown.

DL was good the first two series but it’s been a struggle since. And isn’t this New England’s makeshift OL?

We need to add a modern-day NFL placekicker to the needs list. 50-60 yard kicks are chip shots in this league nowadays. Anything over 50 for us is a hope and a prayer.

What a catch by Odunze!

But goddamn Thomas, you’re not Velus. Stop trying to be Velus!!

And another play by Rome. Outstanding.

Can somebody please explain to me why so many of these guys refuse to wear knee pads anymore. I'm seeing guys with totally unprotected knees in every game I watch. Are knees still susceptible to injuries in this game, or am I watching a new sport?

Comfort and speed :dunno:

Well, gentlemen, another game by the beloved that required a full 60:00 of drinking (at least for me). Glad we got the win. Another game that felt it was much too close at the end for comfort. Good Lord, having our quarterback Jordan makes life better. Just a crazy sick throw to Rome on 3rd down to keep the clenching drive alive. We’ll talk about Rome in a minute, in this week’s edition of Gameballs:

Rome Odunze - I mean, what do we say about this young man? Great to elite run blocker. Drops ridiculously easy passes sometimes, and then catches the stupidly hard ones. The two big catches he had tonight were both once that elite level wideouts make. If he can start to figure out how to catch the easy ones too, good Lord, the ceiling. But I appreciate he does not check out of games and finds a way to be a force to help the team win.

Luther Burden - Tonight was the night he probably ended all doubt about who the WR1 is. Big plays, YAC, catches whatever is thrown his way and looks to get that YAC violently and quickly.

Colston Loveland - Like Odunze, dropped a couple of bunnies, like Odunze, made a for it in a big way. Another receiver as a TE whose not afraid to mix it up and get quality blocks.

Iceman QB1 - y’all saw it, no need for me to pontificate but so much. Another solid week, and I thought he got the first down and strategically ran the clock down to the two- minute warning at the end of the game, but only mistake was taking that sack. Got bailed out though. That’s what happens with teams trust each other.

Cairo Santos - made arguably what I think might be the biggest kick of his career as a Bear (The GB kick at the beginning of 2025 that ended the losing streak, gave some positive momentum heading into the HC search, and knocked those cocksuckers from Green Bay out of playoff contention might be up there too). Career long, something outside his believed range (and obviously I’m not the coach, but I wouldn’t risk it again) but shook off the first miss with a doink that surely brought back memories of a former Chicago kicker who, much like the guard who stupidly passed the ball to Asik in game 6 of the 2012 playoffs against Philly, we will never name (ok i’ll name the guard for the last time ever, it was CJ Watson, who I will never forgive for passing to a fucking 45% free throw shooter), he grabbed his notes and went out there and made the next one. He misses that, and this whole season could start a downward spiral. Instead, a win and 10 days to recover.

D’Marco Jackson - 6 tackles and a pets deflection, but he was pretty busy all night wreaking havoc.

Kyler Gordon - the “I apologize” tour continued with another strong night of causing havoc, making plays behind the line of scrimmage, and hitting the QB. I know we said a lot of things about him, but he’s playing like a dude possessed who missed the contact and playing football, like when Marlo tasted his blood after he got sliced walking away from that party on ‘The Wire’.

Tyrique Stevenson - MASSIVE break up that would’ve been a touchdown. When he’s been able to stay on the field, he’s been money for the most part, and the way these injuries keep popping up and the lack of production from the alleged CB1, him being good enough will be great. i’m glad he bounced back after Washington a couple of years ago and wasn’t tarred and feathered out of town. Speaking of lack of….

DISHONORABLE MENTION

Jaylon Johnson - at the beginning of the game, when of the front four were getting home with push and applying significant pressure, he got to hang out 10–15 yards off the ball. When shit started hitting the fan and it came time to make some tackles, he made even prime Deion Sanders look good, hell at least Deion Sanders was 1) Deion Sanders and 2) would at least try and sell that he was making an attempt at a tackle. Johnson didn’t even do that. If he would’ve been thrown at more tonight, they would’ve destroyed him, and he has turned into one of the biggest DB liabilities on the field I’ve seen since Chris Conte. Maybe he’s glad he’s already gotten paid. Hopefully he is, because there’s no way he’s back on this team next year.

The last play of the 1st half - I mean, we won, but what the fuck was that? Oh well.

Happy Friday to all and wishing everyone a great weekend. If you’re on the east coast or the Midwest, give your family those 3–4 hours back this Sunday and enjoy the end of the nice fall weather and leaves. Take them to a pumpkin patch on a hayride Give them that time back, even if you’re somewhere else in the USA. Then you’ll trick off all your money on Halloween costumes that you’ll spend stupid money on and they will wear once, while also buy $100 plus of candy for other folks kids lol. Bear Down!!

Jaylon Johnson has 1 more year on the contract and his salary goes down next year. So there may be a very slight chance of his return. The Deion Sanders mention was perfect in regards to tackling. Deion didn't give up catches so he didn't have to worry about it too much. Jaylon can't get that part of the equation right at all any more in giving up these catches and failing to get to the ball otherwise.
Hell the announcers were saying that Jaylon got beat by a double move on that play where he got called for a hold. When I saw the replay I was wondering where was the move cause Chism just went right by him

Yep. You know it’s bad when former Bears are tweeting about it:

He's finished! Sad way to go out but that's the NFL for ya. It's one thing that you can't cover anymore but when you lack effort in tackling, that's when you may have to bench someone. At least he looks like he's trying to cover, he just can't keep up but his effort in tackling is beyond shameful. When Drake Maye juked him, he got juked because his effort was terrible, he just lightly threw out his shoulder and got faked out, it was pathetic. He played like that all night.. Smh!

A couple of years ago he admitted to being a sex addict, I seen a post where someone said he need to start fucking again....

I get the desire to be free and nifty. It's all butterflies and rainbows until that opposing helmet hits that bare knee in anger, and all of a sudden, that bright career could be all over. These guys aren't getting smaller and slower. As the violence in this game increases, more protection makes more sense to me than less. But in the end, it ain't my knees.
