Report: Celtics could acquire Kevin Love in ‘very fragile’ three-way trade involving Ryan Anderson

The Cavaliers were reportedly talking about a three-way trade that would send Kevin Loveto the Celtics and Carmelo Anthony from the Knicks to Cleveland. The Cavs were also reportedly discussing dealing for the Pelicans’ Ryan Anderson.

Combine those rumors and you get…

A. Sherrod Blakely of CSN Northeast:

Cleveland’s growing interest in New Orleans’ Ryan Anderson bodes well in Boston’s seemingly never-ending quest to acquire Kevin Love in what’s shaping up to be a potential three-team deal that would include the Boston Celtics.

The particulars of the deal are still in the discussion phase, but the end result if it comes to pass would send Love to Boston, according to a league source.

The deal is still “very fragile” at this point, but it does provide Boston the best shot it has had in landing a player the Celtics have coveted for some time now.

This sounds like wishful thinking by the Celtics, who’ve long coveted Love.

The Cavaliers could make a smaller trade for Anderson, whose salary would fit into their trade exception. The Pelicans might just want draft picks before losing him in free agency.

Anderson would provide helpful depth as another stretch four. However, he’d be somewhat redundant with Love and insanely expensive given the luxury-tax hit if Cleveland doesn’t unload other salary. If Dan Gilbert is willing to pay, there’s little drawback. But it’s a high price for a backup, albeit an excellent one, who plays a similar style to the starter.

However, if the Cavs are considering trading Kevin Love, Anderson’s availability helps. Cleveland could upgrade elsewhere – Melo in a four-way trade? – and get a decent Love substitute in Anderson.

Could that be the ticket to Boston finally getting Love?

It’s a longshot, but at least it’s a shot.

Seem like some of these kats make anything up and report it...

Then again general mangers and owners past history inspired these random thoughts...

looking more and more like these teams dont wanna do nothing

I mean why do anything? Fuck your team up with unneeded salary when the salary cap about to go up next year and free agents gonna be available. All for 2nd place? There are only a handful of teams that should even be trying to improve their team this year and that's probably too much.

Yep. I wouldn't put Spurs in there because I Don't think there's nothing they can do. They not giving up Lamarcus or Kwahi.....Duncan, Ginobilli and Parker not going nowhere......But i'd swap them out with the Celtics. Celtics get a #1 scorer in there without giving up any valuable assets or their core.........they can get to the ECF. And yeah I know that's 2nd place but that would be HUGE for their youth over there to do that.

Yea spot on

The Spurs could use Belinelli back. Simmons and Anderson are to young talents but the Spurs are lacking 3pt shooting.

Dwight isn't going anywhere. He's a free agent this summer plus he's injury prone. If there's any trades it will only be minor ones most likely.

That's what I said yesterday

None of these teams involved about to win the chip anyway

Just making moves just to make them or save money

I agree. I don't get it either. Maybe that makes fans happy. Philly can't be serious about dealing Okafor. They just can't be.

Philly is fucked; Jerry C is just trying to come in and clean up the mess that the front office has created; It wont matter with them for the next 3 years or so..
