Re: ~*~2013 NBA Offseason Thread - Amnesty period & contact signings 7/10~*~
Beyond awful
This CBA is awful.

This CBA is awful.
The worse thing and older player can do is coming back too soon from a major injury. I mean h doesn't have to be Derrick Rose but don't try to be Superman either - shoot for Christmas and come back then.

This may be the best thing for the Lakers franchise for Kobe to push himself to come back too soon, reinjures himself and never be the same again. I don't think Kobe is going out on his own.
The NBA REALLY NEEDS TO CONSIDER HAVING AN ALL STAR GAME THERE...![]()

Drew Gooden Clears Amnesty Waivers
The final amnesty victim of 2013 has cleared waivers and is now an unrestricted free agent, according to Marc Stein of ESPN.com. Stein tweets that teams have been notified that no bids were placed on Drew Gooden, who was amnestied by the Bucks on Tuesday night.
After starting 46 games and averaging 13.7 PPG and 6.5 RPG for the Bucks in 2011/12, Gooden wasn't a part of the team's rotation last season. The 31-year-old only appeared in 16 contests in 2012/13, recording about 150 total minutes for the year.
Milwaukee is still on the hook for about $13.37MM for Gooden over the next two seasons, so salary likely won't be the top priority for the former fourth overall pick as he seeks another NBA roster spot. While his career appears to be on the decline, Gooden could still be a decent bench piece for the veteran's minimum, so I'd expect him to receive a little interest.

http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/9...ter-mix-veteran-mike-miller-according-sourcesSources told ESPN.com that the Nuggets are now getting strong consideration from Miller along with the early frontrunners in the race to sign him: Oklahoma City and Memphis.
Miller, according to sources, met face-to-face Friday with new Grizzlies owner Robert Pera and CEO Jason Levien after an earlier sitdown with Thunder general manager Sam Presti. Sources said that Thunder All-Star Kevin Durant and Grizzlies All-Star Marc Gasol have both taken an active role in recruiting Miller, who has received interest from a number of contenders after being released earlier this week by the Miami Heat via the amnesty provision.
http://espn.go.com/los-angeles/nba/...r-deal-los-angeles-clippers-according-sourcesLOS ANGELES -- The Los Angeles Clippers have agreed to sign center Byron Mullens to a two-year contract, sources told ESPNLosAngeles.com.
Terms were not disclosed, but league sources said the deal was worth $2 million and Mullens will hold a player option for the second year of the deal. Mullens had a career year for the Charlotte Bobcats last season, starting 41 games and averaging 10.6 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 26.9 minutes per game.
Perhaps more importantly for the Clippers is Mullens' ability to shoot from outside, as he averaged a career-high 31.7 percent from behind the three-point line last season. The seven-footer has played both power forward and center for the Oklahoma City Thunder and Bobcats during his four seasons in the NBA and gives the Clippers a possible stretch four off the bench, which they've been looking for recently.
31.7 percent isn't exactly great or even good behind the 3 point line though
I guess since he is 7 feet tall it is but still I don't care how tall or short you are if that's your percentage I don't want you shooting that many threes
Who he in the pic with?
Why can't we go after this nigga tho
I'm clueless with Oden...

With every day that passes, the strange Brandon Jennings case seems headed toward a resolution that neither party wants.
If Jennings bounces back to the Bucks on a one-year contract for the qualifying offer of $4.5 million, the point guard won't get the big money and the big market he thought was coming to him.
And the Bucks, who made their preference known with their unsuccessful pursuit of Jeff Teague while Jennings was hanging in limbo, would be stuck with a guy they'd rather not have around anymore.
Of course, the best solution would be a sign-and-trade deal. It's what Jennings' handlers and the Bucks want. Problem is, the Bucks can't find a suitable trading partner that has both the need for a point guard and something they'd want in return.
If a team makes a play for Jennings, problem solved. Let him go and move on. But more and more, it's looking like short-term coexistence will be required of Jennings and the Bucks.
As awkward as Jennings' one-year return would be, I'm thinking a potentially bad situation could actually become a good thing next season for player and organization with a lot of work and understanding on both sides.
In a contract year, Jennings would be highly motivated to become the player he thinks he is and get the money he thinks he's worth. With a new coach and without the friction caused by Monta Ellis' presence, it's possible that Jennings' attitude could be reshaped to make something of next season for the Bucks.
Once the season begins, player-management tensions typically abate under the competitive routine of every-other-day games. Losing could bring them to the surface, as happened in the second half last year when the Bucks' season and Jennings' game went south at the same time.
It would be incumbent on Larry Drew to convince Jennings that one more year in Milwaukee could be a positive development for the Bucks and the advancement of the player's career. It won't be easy because Drew coached Teague in Atlanta and it's reasonable to assume that the coach wanted his guy to run the show here.
Meanwhile, Jennings would have to understand that it is in his best interests to not only become a more selective shooter, but also to get the ball to Larry Sanders, John Henson and Ersan Ilyasova.
And the holdover teammates who did not enjoy playing with the free-shooting, ball-monopolizing point guard would have to come to some sort of a temporary agreement with Jennings, especially against the inference that Teague would have been a better teammate, not to mention a better player.
But it could be done if both sides swallow their pride and Jennings gets it into his head that a good year by the Bucks would get him where he wants to be.
It's important to understand that both sides created this mess by overplaying their hands.
Jennings refused to talk with the Bucks about an extension last October because he was certain another team would blow them out of the water in restricted free agency. After not entertaining a market-value contract from the Bucks of somewhere in the $8-million-a-year range, he is being virtually ignored by the market following his unsatisfactory performances in the second half of the season and the playoffs.
Jennings overestimated his worth as well as the need for point guards in the restricted market.
The Bucks erred first by saying they would match any offer for Jennings, thus limiting Jennings' options. Next, if they were that sold on Teague, they should have made a stronger offer that Atlanta could have refused, if also to avoid the situation they now have on their hands.
But what's done is done, both by Jennings and the Bucks. If forced to live together for one more season, they could make it work. More than that, they'll have to make it work.
Nearly a month since free agency Brandon Jennings is not only still a free agent
Dude is everything i dislike in a PG.
Lebron is on the books until 2016, so they may need to go after Rudy first...
All the big 3 are free agents after this year, no?
