2 things we don't want to talk about.....

Are you the "ADOS" that wants to separate and isolate yourself from other black cultures, like the agents on the board?

Leave and go where?

OP do you currently reside in the States?

The people who come up with these thoughts ALWAYS live in the West and never in a 3rd world country. No full blooded ADOS would ever promote the idea of "running from white Americans" as a viable solution to combatting WS. Im almost certain the OP isn't just ADOS, more than likely grew up an immigrant city and has immigrant lineage in his background. Only someone that is already an immigrant or sees themself as such would encourage us to become one in 3rd world situations or colonies. Black Americans firmly rooted in our culture dont talk like this.

This is real talk right here. Black Americans are more American than most white Americans and definitely more than almost all hispanic Americans. Why would we leave a country we built??

I wish black folks would co-op the American flag and turn it into a symbol of black pride. This would piss off CACs to the highest level of pisstivity.

The Civil War was brother against brother .... it was not a war built upon passionate hatred like wars the US has fought against people of color. John Wilkes Booth found that out. When he killed Lincoln he imagined that he would be elevated to sainthood in the US south. Nope ..... at news of what he'd done Booth became the most hated man in amerikkka, both north and south. The Civil War, despite the high death toll was not a war, but a political skirmish. Like the last time you and your brother fought. You may have gut punched him, but you didn't try to snatch his eyeball out with your thumb. (I hope) The day after the war ended they were breaking bread together. Neither side hated the other, they simply were hell bent on having their way politically. Nobody got executed after the war except the leader of the winners.

Once we were given freedom as ex-slaves, we should have gotten the FUCK up out of here and taken our chances wherever else.
Really? Like where? You're forgetting something HUGE, bro! You have the benefit of knowing how this all transpired in the hundred following years. They did not. After being in bondage, beaten, raped, labeled inhuman you wake up one morning.... and you get the news..... THE NIGHTMARE IS OVER" you are free. You are a man, you will be getting you rights soon as a free amerikkkan citizen. Not only that, the president has proclaimed that each of us will be issued 40 acres of government land and a healthy mule. You no longer need worry of your babies being sold away, your wife being raped, the beatings are history. The big amerikkkan expansion to greatness called Reconstruction is in it's infancy, and as former slaves we are the ONLY group now in the nation with building skills. We will all be rich!!!! Now tell me, who is in the mood to leave this fairy tale and follow you into some unknown abyss? And where were they gonna go? Mexico? Blacks were already there getting fucked over. South America? See Mexico. The Caribbean? See Mexico. And how would you move a few million broke people? Hindsight is always 20/20.

The US still operated under the constitution, so the southern states were brought back in which they gained back their state rights back as well.

The civil war was tricky because it wasn’t like those southern state wasn’t apart of the country before the split. South Carolina was the first state to secede in December 1860. The war was over in 1865.

So the government just went back to what it was before hand. The idea of democracy and the two party system should have changed. The south may have lost the war, but they didn’t lose their culture. Hence, the state and local government adopted Jim Crow laws.

The union should have never given the state rights back to the former confederacy.

:bravo::bravo: EXCELLENT BREAKDOWNS...my first question when I read OPs post was ”AND GO WHERE AND WITH WHAT”.

I do. Born and raised here. I had been planning for a while to try to bounce, then COVID happened and now there's literally very few places to go. I'm hoping that by the time things normalize on the health front, I'll be closer to the position to make a move.

I love these responses though. It's always interesting to see different perspectives.

true dat ...i feel the same way but the getting aint as good in other countries as it is here for me....so im staying here for now....
funny you mention that. I've been away for 3 years now and the first thing I think I realized in the first year was.... 90% of all that shit you love about having in amerikkka is glitter... absolute nothing. amerikkka makes you want a BMW M-Class, not your brain.... a car gets you from point A to point B whether it's a BMW or a Corolla. The overwhelming percent of people in Central America have no car at all and get around just fine. I have a car but I often wonder if it's worth it. It costs me far more to get to places than the locals on the buses. You can go all the way from one end of the nation, Punta Gorda to the opposite end, Corozal, 400 km total for about FIVE US DOLLARS on the national bus! Guess what it cost me in gas if I drive it? Plus insurance, plates, repairs, tires....... You live in a system where you kill yourself working holidays, weekends, doubles, OT, to buy things you neither want or need but your imagined status demands you have that thing. Not much of that here. There are TONS of people here living on 100 to 200 dollars a month and I'll bet you dollars to dimes they're living as happy or even possibly happier lives than most of you. It takes decades to learn what is really important in life and most of it isn't being sold in amerikkka. Down here did you know the government won't let food and drink manufacturers sell shit sweetened with High Fructose Corn Syrup? We have Coke, Sprite, even Arizona drinks... nowhere near the selection of things you have but it's all sweetened with SUGAR. Can't buy it there!

We have the best watermelons on the planet but you'll never see a seedless one! The government won't allow GMO horse shit in the country. The US government is bought and paid for and would let Monsanto sell you a chocolate covered turd! You're a number... nobody in DC gives a fuck bout you. My only wish is that it wouldn't have taken me this long to know what I know now. Nobody EVER said on their death bed, "I wish I had worked more overtime and bought more stuff"

Y'all niggas don't know me like that...I aint an attention seeker like that....and respect and fuck y'all in the same breath....but I gotta say whats on my mind. Our predicament right now in this funky bitch we call America comes down to two things nobody wants to talk about. 1) At the end of the Civil War, all the traitorous generals, leaders, etc. should have been executed as an example to make the case for a strong union....most especially because of the ideas they chose to fight that war on. Not doing that was a passive admission that this whole shit is beholden to those ideas. 2) Once we were given freedom as ex-slaves, descendants of such (ADOS) or whatever....we should have gotten thee FUCK up out of here and taken our chances wherever else. Both things are curious.........what kinda country tolerates traitors to the extent that America tolerated the confederacy? What kinda oppressed peoples gets free and chooses to stay in the land of the most vicious oppression ever witnessed on this planet? We sick with the same shit as massa. And the symptoms bout to take us all out.

It's not like airliners or tanker ships were available to take us back, or somewhere else. It would've taken decades to remove all of us... and we had no shoes... let alone money. I feel the frustration but practically.... this would be a heavy lift now... never mind back then.

What does Garvey have to do with ANY of this? Marcus wasn't even born yet at the end of the Civil War! His Black Star Lines company came along FIFTY years later and the world STILL wasn't having it and shut him the fuck down. As much as cacs hate you, don't you dare get together and have a mass exodus from a place of white control. You are cheap labor, and at the time we were needed to do the work that was supposedly beneath a cac plus train the cacs in the building trades since there were no white trades-people due to slavery. Slaves could not have, under any circumstances left the US EXCEPT under government supervision in calculated numbers, leaving enough to satisfy agriculture and industry, but not enough to be a threat. Actually Abe Lincoln himself proposed this. Paraphrasing cause I'm too lazy to look it up but he said ...... I am certain there is no way the whites could ever live with the negro in peace and my plan is if slavery is ended to see that they slowly be reintroduced to Liberia Africa.

That was too shitty... So my tired ass went and looked it up..... QUOTING: From Wiki

"
In a speech at Peoria, Illinois[36] (transcribed after the fact by Lincoln himself),[35]:b Lincoln pointed out the immense difficulties of such a task are an obstacle to finding an easy way to quickly end slavery.[35]:c [37] In a debate in August 1858, he said:[38][39]

If all earthly power were given to me [...] my first impulse would be to free all the slaves, and send them to Liberia,—to their own native land. But a moment's reflection would convince me that whatever of high hope (as I think there is) there may be in this, in the long run, its sudden execution is impossible.
According to historian Paul Escott, Lincoln thus favored a system of gradual emancipation that would allow for controlled management of free Negroes.[39]"

Black Star Line Marcus Garvey... Black nationalist Marcus Garvey? Sarcasm aside, I wasn't putting the question in a Garvey context but perhaps I should have. I was thinking pre Garvey influence....post civil war when we were barely on our feet let alone with any shoes. I was putting it in the same context as those traitors who weren't killed after the civil war.

Garvey is an interesting context though. Bringing him up changes the initial question and statement a bit, don't you think?

As for why more of us didn't get on the Garvey boat and leave or consider leaving, perhaps not enough were aware of the world and what it had to offer. We take for granted how many people have access to the globe via the internet or TV and the movies (books too). Garvey was a popular figure in the early 1900's, think about our condition at that time. Also think about The Great Migration, which was from 1915-1970. The Great Migration still represents the largest displacement of black folks on the planet, and that entailed us moving out of Jim Crow south to the MidWest, West, and Northeast (which was a huge deal). We thought jumping up and taking off for other regions would offer much more than it did... it's what Richard Wright wrote about in Native son and Black Boy... The Warmth of Other Suns. If we're going to put Garvey on the table we have to discuss those that did leave... and there were many before and after Garvey (shit folks are leaving now).

Some of us were doing quite well in the Post Civil war South. Post Reconstruction Jim Crowe set us back 100 years. We had Blacks in the legislature like Robert Smalls. I'm sure this info is not new to some of you but it's certainly new to others so I'm posting.

In 2004, the US named a ship for Robert Smalls, the USAV Major General Robert Smalls (LSV-8), a Kuroda-class logistics support vessel operated by the U.S. Army. It is the first Army ship named after an African American.[41]

Robert Smalls (April 5, 1839 – February 23, 1915) was an American politician, publisher, businessman, and naval pilot.

Born into slavery in Beaufort, South Carolina, he freed himself, his crew, and their families during the American Civil War by commandeering a Confederate transport ship, CSS Planter, in Charleston harbor, on May 13, 1862, and sailing it from Confederate-controlled waters of the harbor to the U.S. blockade that surrounded it.

He then piloted the ship to the Union-controlled enclave in Beaufort-Port Royal-Hilton Head area, where it became a Union warship. His example and persuasion helped convince President Abraham Lincoln to accept African-American soldiers into the Union Army.

After the American Civil War he returned to Beaufort and became a politician, winning election as a Republican to the South Carolina State legislature and the United States House of Representatives during the Reconstruction era.

Smalls authored state legislation providing for South Carolina to have the first free and compulsory public school system in the United States. He founded the Republican Party of South Carolina. Smalls was the last Republican to represent South Carolina's 5th congressional district until 2011.

So part of the answer to the initial question is in your response, "some of us were doing quite well..." which is why they didn't leave. And since some of us were doing quite well others might have thought, why leave, it might only be a matter of time before I too am doing quite well. Others probably couldn't see past not having food on the table or shoes on their feet.

Many many many many more of us couldn't even think about leaving... bc eating and securing shelter, etc. would have been our primary immediate objective.

My point is that had Reconstruction been properly enforced, Black leadership in Congress and other institutions could have been the norm and not the exception.

Indeed Jim Crowe laws came about because Blacks were acquiring too much political and financial power, threatening the existing power structure. We could have been very well off as a people.

Blacks were excited about the new opportunity to pursue education and work and travel freely. HBCUs were established. We were becoming upwardly mobile and that had to be stopped.

We had every reason to stay and build and then the KKK and Jim Crowe type laws changed everything while the North looked the other way.

Shut the fuck up coon, you slipped up and talking about America because you live here. You’re I’m Canadian because Drake is my cousin shtick stays getting exposed.
I' am based in the Atlanta area you dufus. I was born and raised in Toronto and still have properties there that I own. Your attempts at trying to expose me always fails.

It wasn't properly enforced and it wreaked havoc on us for decades. My initial point was in reference to what happened... not what could have or should have happened. Reconstruction, the great Migration, and Marcus Garvey (that's the order)... they're all connected but they don't all have something to do with the initial question. Reconstruction begat Jim Crow which spawned the Great Migration... which Marcus Garvey developed his zeitgeist in correlation with. After the civil war we didn't leave for many reasons... lack of anything tangible was one (in spite of those doing well during reconstruction... which was barely more than a decade long). After reconstruction was scuttled by Jim Crow we did leave... we migrated West, Midwest, and to the Northeast. Marcus Garvey doesn't fit into this conversation unless you want him to... which i'm fine with.

Reconstruction shaped and fixed racism in a way that's still relevant but reconstruction didn't keep us here. There are two decades between the end of reconstruction and the begging of the great migration. We did leave (the south) 20 years after reconstruction or 20 into Jim Crow, depending how you look at it. We got freedom, experienced a small taste of it along with the influence it could yield, and then we got stepped on... and then we left (headed North, West, and to the MidWest) in droves... the largest migration of an indigenous people ever recorded (I do believe).

To be honest and truthful....why should 'we' leave? They should leave. Not us. No Indian and no black people especially. Man fuck a cave dweller. I ain't going nowhere B. this is my home. I was born here. Good bad or indifferent. And I'm not leaving. If I do I'll def go to Africa. I Love Black. And I love being Black. Yeah, I said it. And I don't take it back.
