Yeah if you are hitting the gym you can usually get chicken breast and other meat cheaper at costco than at regular super markets.

I never mentioned anything about quality. My comments were only directed at how Costco can pay a high salaries. They can pay high salaries because they charge a membership fee.
It's a horrible attempt at trolling, but I am in a good mood due to all the organic food I buy from Costco so I'll play ball: you are comparing apples to oranges. Sam's Club is Costco's direct competition and you pay a membership for inferior quality at that.

I been @ Sams since 2001 and use to work for them also until we divorced. I still own a membership but been trying to escape the wrath of the "Blue Box" We have a Costco which I actually applied for but got no response from. That made me salty of course but this thread may convince me to move on. ONLY reason I didn't join Costco is because Sams is so convenient due to there locations. Costco is out my reach but I don't shop sams but once a month. I may have to eat a lil gas just to get a better feel but you cats going have to convince me more

Costco is geared towards a higher class demographic. One of the reasons they are not in low income areas. WalMart is more geared for low income families so they would not pay a membership fee just to shop.

Cumberland, in Cobb County Georgia, was on it's way to being a teeny bopper mall (i.e. no revenue) and they brought a handful of mid to upscale restaurants along with this "wholesale" store...I just didn't see the logic.
They were up for a year. I am driving by talking about how stupid this move was...that it was totally opposed to the branding of the mall, then my girl told me she wanted to check it out to get a membership. I went in that muthaf*cka and kicked myself in the ASS. Everything I complained about, they DIDN'T have. We signed up that day!

I am not aruging that companies can't pay more and just providing how Costco is able to share/invest their revenue into their employees and still make a profit.

Walmart doesn't force the government to give people food stamps. If workers want better wages than walmart offers, they can choose to work somewhere else, if it becomes difficult for Walmart to keep decent employees, they will raise their wages. Government forcing high wages typically just makes everything more expensive which negates the benefits of the slightly higher wage.
