When you first saw La Donna Negrini you thought she was Puerto Rican when she approached you inside the neighborhood pizza shop. She was standing near the display counter when you order a pan of Lasagna and some Garlic knots.
She overheard your order and asked you:
"How is there Lasagna and have you ever had homemade Lasagna?"
You told her that your mother and niece used to make Lasagna and it was pretty good and then she asked:
"Have you ever had homemade Lasagna prepared by an Italian woman?"
You told her:
"No, why do you ask?"
As she began to speak you could see that she actually had a heavy Italian accent as she introduced herself as "La Donna," and went on to explain that she was Half Italian and Half Sicilian.
She told you that her grandmother taught her how to make Lasagna when she was a little girl and she promised you it is the best Lasagna you will ever taste.
You were hoping that she would invite you over that evening, but she did give you her phone number and she enjoyed talking to you because in some ways you helped her with her English.
It took a few weeks before she felt comfortable enough to invite you over, but when she did she did prepare a traditional Italian dinner with the main course being Lasagna.
Eventually, you got to sample other things in La Donna's kitchen...
Oh, and how was her Lasagna among other things? Molto Bene!
