Now here is an objective way of thinking we should consider.

All Tyler Perry movies are just a ruse to confuse the enemy.

Meaning all funds made by the films which have a coonish presentation are invested in better schools for Black Americans. Opening up oppertunities to blacks without the ability to send a child to a private high structured education system. That would blatantly discourage any attack on Perry.

For every non Coonish movie he does, he keeps as a personal/studio profit. Which he does around 2-3 movies a year, this plan of action is possible. Will it happen no.

The thing is, we dont want what has happened to music to continue in movies. The dumb down effect. It's just when those films "different" films were being released we weren't supporting them. So they starved us out completely. Then TP starts getting his films released and because there hadn't been any black films in the theater, we supported, though they weren't that good.

I just got in from a meeting with a producer who's shopping around a script of mine (tv pilot actually) and the only notes I got back were that the woman character wasn't sassy enough... Well the adult woman. I had a little girl who was, and they loved her. But they said the audience may get bored with seeing a business minded black woman as one of the leads and wouldn't be able to relate to her... Which was bull shit, I mean the female character wasn't a mute, she just has dept but I guess they just want someone who was relatable to the audience and one dimensional.

So it's not as easy is some of you guys some to think. We vote with our money, and if the other film makers don't see half of the success a TP film does, they'll get harder and harder to get financed.

On average it cost less than 15 million to make a TP film and it grosses on average 40 million. do the math..its a no brainer on why TP films keep getting made.

When the cosby show was on IT MADE A PROFIT...NBC didn't keep it on the air because it was good for the black community they kept it on because it made them MONEY..

the complainers can't have it both ways..the same people that watch TP films and tv shows are the SAME PEOPLE that watched the Cosby Show.. They support what they want to support..

the tpd's don't get it...hollywood wants every black person with an idea to copy tyler perry and make their characters excessively loud, and over the top...they won't support adult normal intelligent black characters b/c we as a race when the films or tv with adult normal intelligent black characters come out we turn the channel to tyler perry crap.

I mean there are other outlets, like the web, were its like the wild wild west. But as far as getting stuff out through the traditional channels it's a tough road. I do think things are changing, that lets stay together show on bet is a small step. I have several projects in the works (books) that hopefully don't get raped and turned into white-washed characters. Because of Tyler Perry-type movies, and the supporters, I would probably have to change the character's of my book into white people if I really wanted it to take off because: A: We don't want to see us outside of certain stereotypical roles that we now seem to own and B: White people don't want to see that either. Most of my themes are fantasy, sci-fi, mystery, and horror. None of which seem to be done by TP or Hollywood, and all which are lacking as far as casting Black characters. The TPDs are probably mostly people with no imagination or ambition, people who don't care as long as they are entertained by some ignorant shit, or people who see Blacks the way they are portrayed in his films/live with/around them
