It’s here, Tyler Perry’s newest movie production, “Madea’s Big Happy Family.” In the midst of all the excitement, it looks like the playwright and cross-dressing actor is preparing to launch a new show, “For Better or for Worse.”

The new production will premiere on TBS and is based on the characters of couples flick “Why Did I Get Married?”

Sources reveal that the show will likely follow a group of college best friends as they deal with life’s issues: Carl and Leslie, a beautiful, happily married couple who want their friends to be as happy as they are; Brian, a TV sportscaster who has a volatile yet comedic relationship with his wife, Michelle, a hair salon owner; and Janice, a therapist married to a sharp, ambitious lawyer, Jordan, who’s trying to keep his secrets secret.

According to reports, Miss USA 2008, Crystle Stewart has already booked a part in the series, but it’s not known which part she will play

In the meantime, for those of you who thought Madea was going to disappear for a while, Perry said she’s here to stay and ain’t retiring any time soon. Sorry Spike.

“As long as people want to see it, I’ll keep going. I’ll keep doing it,” Tyler said Wednesday on “Conan.” “If people stop coming to see the character, what will happen is that old broad will die really quickly.”

He also lamented about his methods of branding, saying he may have gone overboard.
“People forget that Walt Disney was a person. His name was above the title and it’s a great example. When you’re branding yourself and building a business [you] use your name. I think I just did it a little bit too much,” Tyler said.

Watch Tyler spill the beans on “Conan”:

And WTF is the connection between your cut and paste rant and this new television DRAMA? You need new material (lol)...

The Box Office Guru prediction for this weekend: $34 MILLION
http://www.boxofficeguru.com/weekend.htm
THIS WEEKEND With its Brady Bunch-inspired poster, Madea's Big Happy Family aims to become another number one hit for movie mogul Tyler Perry with Easter weekend kicking off with the Good Friday holiday. The director's tenth film in just over five years brings back his most popular character. His two biggest opening weekends have been $41M for Madea Goes to Jail and $30M for Madea's Family Reunion so Big Happy should be able to maximize sales from the filmmaker's large fan base. Plus with Perry not having a comedy since last Easter, the audience will welcome a few laughs following the dark drama For Colored Girls... As usual, whites will contribute very little but the grosses for the PG-13 film will be powerful anyway. Gathering in 2,288 theaters, a new high for Perry, Madea's Big Happy Family could take in about $34M.

They might as well just make TBS the fuckin Tyler Bojangle Station smh

While I haven't watched any of his tv shows, I can't hate the man because he keeps people working. Between these three shows, that has to be about, what, 40 actors getting a steady check? Plus, the majority of his studios crew is black so that's probably another couple hundred people able to feed themselves and their families. He also makes sure that he goes back and grabs former black stars that Hollywood forgot about and gives them starring roles in his films. I can't be mad at that. I'm about to end my Tyler hate campaign.

its easter weekend all the bitter black women, the fat bitter black women the jesus freak bitter black women will all herd themselves to see this bullshit...

What is wrong with people enjoying a movie. Why does it bother you so much?

will those same ppl enjoy jumping the broom? mooz lum? and other good black films? nope because they have no cooning, jesus talk and cross dressing faggotry... tyler promoted for precious which was a vile film... but he wont promote positive black films... dudes a hack and a con artist...

I don't see the issue. It is just unfair for TP to solve all of black america problems. Black people always looking for a leader to follow. TP is a fictional movie maker that mainly makes comedies. I guess Martin and Jamiee Fox are coons

you cats make some movies or TV shows.....nobody is stopping you....

My actually career is stopping me, sorry I don't have time to drop what I'm doing now to start over my career choice over in directing & producing now, doesn't mean I can't be a consumer with an opinion cuz I'm not a producer or director though...

I don't like TP but I'd rather him stay occupied with these generic run of the mill sitcoms than more fake independent woman pride while downing brothas bullshit as movies.

TP pretty much makes Lifetime movies geared towards woman interest. I never understood why grown men get upset with the content in the movies when it is not made for them. The Broom may be a really good movie but it does not have the branding that TP movies have. Medea was a huge success for TP. That character help brand his projects.

People fail to understand that TP was a great play writer. He had a huge underground following before he took his plays to the big screen. Most people like yourself only new about TP once he had success on the big screen. People who go to see his movies all have his books and been to his plays

Half of you saying 'go and make your own sitcoms' think it's that easy? You guys don't have a clue. Take it from someone who has worked in the industry (and I still am I guess) it's all politics. Hollywood is filled with homos and racist old white folk behind the scenes. And since Tyler falls into the former, they look out for him. The fact he shucks and jives as well is just a bonus.

Man, I could tell you a situation in which my script for a sitcom almost got produced but I declined because they wanted me to put 'coonish' behavior in it.

Independent is where I'm at now.

I wouldn't say, bro'.

If Blacks didn't support him, he wouldn't be as famous as he is now.

he gets indy support like how neo soul singers do, example. Beyonce gets MSG for shows but say Jill Scott gets SOBs for hers... he wont get tyler support because he rocks the boat... tyler is happy to keep things swimming smoothly...

Here's the reality on the whole TP thing...

Tyler Perry in 2010's is like BET was in the 2000-zero's

As stated on the Boondocks...
BET was set up to destroy black people.

Thing is... enough black folks finally wised up and stopped watching BET.

Tyler Perry has now been set up as BET's replacement, and is basically doing the same thing that BET was doing.

black america wont support spike, he wont make exploitation shuckin and jivin movies & tv with coonish characters.

Man Black America MADE Spike. When whites were calling Spike racist we were the ones going out to watch his shit. Spike just has a different approach to Hollywood than Tyler does. And Spike's first problem is i'm not quite sure if he knows what "cooning" actually is.

Bro', I'm sorry...

...but if what TP does can destroy us, then we are too easily destroyed. I don't watch the dudes work like I did when he was first came out, but I just don't see how what he does is so bad for our community.

It's my opinion, of course - but I just feel as if that was ridiculously overstated.

when bamboozled came out, how many said it was too deep, boring and made them think? a lot... tyler comes out with his bullshit and black america says "i dont gotta think, i can just laugh at the faggotry and cooning! I'mma support this!"

Beyond all the other shit said about Tyler, when I finally watched one of this flicks, the shit I hate the most is that he is a SHITTY writer. Dude will try to force a happy ending for EVERY character in EVERY story he writes no matter how ridiculous it may be. I watched that shit "Why Did I Get Married Too" and this fool somehow not only insisted on a happy ending, but dude had a bitch who had just got done LITERALLY killing her husband over some bullshit get a happy ending as well (had The Rock just appear out of nowhere to replace the cat she killed). I wouldn't call most of his flicks "coonin'" per-se, I would call the flicks blatant pandering to an audience he doesn't think is too bright in the first place.

I finished watching that shit and told my wife, "OK, I watched the shit, now can YOU admit it sucked?" She had no choice but to admit it.

I will give dude SOME credit for "Family that Preys Together". Worst thing about that flick was the fact he put himself in it (and dude looked more "In drag" trying to look like an average dude with his afro wig and fake mustache than he EVER has dressed as an old broad). But that flick actually flipped on the female protagonist and thus became Tyler's best written and least successful film to date (doubt he will EVER try that again because his audience would rather see a female give birth in an ally, toss her baby in a dumpster and meet Shemar Moore for lunch than any attempt at REALISM in his storylines).

- yeah, it was satire and black folks don't get satire. say what you mean and mean what you say.

but i had a chick tell me the matinee for tyler perry's movie was damn near sold out and standing room only :smh:

Tyler Perry is hardly a great writer.

At the same time, to act like dude is the reincarnation of Step-N-Fetchit is ludicrous. Yes some of the characters are silly, but OBVIOUSLY SOME PEOPLE LIKE THE SILLINESS! When my family get together on holidays, TP is in the DVD player and everyone is watching it. I don't care for him anymore, but I don't watch shit unless it's EXTREMELY inspirational or about money.

If Tyler Perry can do ANYTHING to please me, it'd be to work more at the craft of writing, and not just work.

The destruction of our image on tv and the big screen does not start with Tyler Perry, I dont understand how some of you hate what TP does to our image but support tv and movies depicting us as murderers, drug dealers, gangbangers and the sort. It seems like since TP is popular lets attack him as if he started the negetivity that we see tv and in the movies. If we have any chance of altering the images of our people in entertainment we cant be selective in our doing so we need to attack all that profit off of our image being tarnished in the name of profit.

I wonder what kind of sitcom or movie the naysayers want to be made that would gather the interest of the black majority. The type of non stereotypically movies you all would like to see, typically, never gets supported when it comes out.

Whites do the same with their own production. Usually they will come out with whatever satisfy their white audience wholly. You have to cater to your audience to become profitable.

The fact that blacks lack power in hollywood, forces directors and producers to stay in their lane. There are certain movies that should be made concerning our history, but people are afraid that it might upset the white man. I would love to see a take on The Black Wallstreet in Tulsa Oklahoma.

As far a black comedy goes, its tough not to be steoretypical without beind bland. Most jokes are stereotypical in nature.
