Pretty much my thoughts as far as the viability of these signings...
man that obie's cheers was my shit....i copped that album...i was feeling him as an artist don't know what happened....he's style and eminem production went together..
I liked Cheers but Second Rounds On Me was better IMO.
I think Obie left because he was tired of sitting on the shelf, didn't like the way the record was running things. But he was supposed to release his independent album some time ago and still hasn't (making it, what, four years between albums?) so it's hard to say who is to blame for that. I think they did a really shitty job of marketing for him, though, and they did the absolute shittiest job possible of selecting singles from his album, among others.
No, Royce and Joell are in a dead heat right now, with Crooked and then Joe. Then everyone else in hip hop.
I think i just realized you were talking about the Wu. Do i put Rae above Ghost? No. Not above Rza Gza UGOD. Nah. I've just never liked him that much.

You gotta understand the machine/connects that Yelawolf had to even be in the game. He is managed/signed to KP Prather who was in the Atl group PA(Saavy(Peebles label)then Dreamworks(Interscope)...hence how he even got a deal to begin with(KP kept his connects). Aside from KP being very ATL industry connected(Outkast,Dungeon Family,Shante Das,Dallas, Jermaine, Patchwerk Studio...etc)he also did A/R for LaFace(signed no one)and A/R for Columbia(signed one wack ass group and was fired)...but none the less....this industry(music)is about who you know. The fact that KP has been in a exec capacity at Def Jam for the past 2-3 years doesnt hurt pushing his agenda...Yelawolf either. Signing to Shady will make Yelawolf very relevant in the near future...moreso than Slaughterhouse. Do I think he's good...NO!!! But he already had an engine behind him...now with Em....he's got a Hemi!!!

never heard of the Yelawolf guy...the Pop The Trunk track is decent...more so the beat.
You got people all over the Internet typing the same shit that I just typed. So yeah..his skin tone along w/ him signing with Em just guaranteed him success IMO.
As for Joe Budden being the weakest link..I think not.
His lyrics are tight....his delivery and tone is just dull. He lacks energy.

I wasnt sold on Joell until I heard Battle Cry. Been fuckin with Royce for a minute. Havent really fucked with CrookedI until he joined slaughter house. either way that roster looks crazy. Talent wise it wil be the best in Hip Hip.
Honestly...talent wise...what other major label can compete?

I fucks with Wayne...but I hope Em doesnt allow his artist to do callabos with him. After I heard him on a couple of tracks with Wayne I finally realized that tru lyricist and Wayne dont go hand and hand.
BTW...is 50 still on Shady's Label?

For me the weakest link is Crooked I, I usually skip his verses. He just yells about alcohol alot. Not saying he's not a dope emcee, but not that versatile.
Slaughterhouse has alot of potential, they just need some certified bangers. Dre beat?

yelawolf is solid...i been fuckin with yela since 04(youtube videos available for proof). dude is truly hip hop...he don't be fake breakin and tryin to be something he's not...that's why he get's love from the rappers cuz he doesn't try to exploit the black culture like most white artist do...he's a dope mc...hell, not that it matters but he has a black wife and she's solid as fuck..she don't play and she's been there thru thick and thin...so from a personal perspective, i think he will do ok while keeping his character in tact...let's see
