I know. But 32 years and he was there when she was sick as shit. Even my wife says that counts for something.
That's what I thought as soon as I saw the story. What could she leave him if he was the earner? It's not like the marriage between Mark Sanford, former governor of South Carolina, and his estranged wife, where she's the one with the money.
We know he cheated with another woman but she knew about and was complicit in the coverup while he was running for President. I know the image of Sainted Elizabeth is the popular one but she had a lot of Lady MacBeth in her too.

John by far...he was a high profile trial atty that made millions and he worked for an Investment Banking Firm that made him millions as well.

Going by accounts from insiders, it may not have been her sickness that caused Edwards to stray. She was reported to be very harsh and treated her husband poorly in public. Outsiders can't judge what goes on in a marriage. He did the wrong thing but she wasn't the innocent victim/wilting flower she's been made out to be. Her passing is sad but the push to canonize her should stop.
John is NOT richer than her, or vice-versa... if the divorce is filed in CA, the judge gets a ruler and splits everything down the middle... That is what almost happened to Mike Tyson after being married to Robin Givens for 1 year...As it is, I am not sure how much this will is worth since I suspect that John automatically owns everything. She may have written this spiteful will to prevent anything from going to the other woman, but if John presses the issue, he will will probably fail...

There it is. Additionally, since they were still married at her death, John may elect to receive his elective share of her estate as the surviving spouse.
It would be in exceedingly bad taste for him to take from such a small estate, especially after the stress he put their family under.
The most valuable thing she owned was the house and I am sure that John, being an attorney, titled all their real estate to both of them as joint tenants with rights of survivorship, which means it is not part of her estate. So, it only leaves personal property, handbags and jewelry which John won't want anyway.

I don't remember if all of this leaked before the general election or not but it would be very interesting to see a president in office with all of this shit going on and illegitimate child drama. Not saying it would be the optimal situation but if I had no stake in it, it would be fun to watch.

The affair and pregnancy weren't public during the campaign and he was still considered a candidate for VP. It's been speculated that the Obama people got wind of it and that helped eliminate him from being VP. By Election Night, it had come out and his political career was over.
That's my point about Elizabeth. It's already come out that she knew about the relationship and conspired to keep it hidden while her husband ran for the Presidency. She was even in on tryin to get his campaign aide to claim the baby was his. Chick was not golden and if she treated her husband half as poorly as it's been reported his cheating was a foregone conclusion.

Yeah, I remember I wanted Edwards as the VP choice.
It was pretty clear when that campaign aide released his book how Elizabeth was-- I find her opinions about her husband to be the most interesting part-- but not many things get you sympathy more than having cancer. Dying from cancer, forget about it. Edwards wouldn't be okay with people unless he was celibate for 5-10 years after her death; they don't give a damn about cooling off periods with regard to lobbyists but housewives can understand and have an opinion about marital loyalty.
