non-christians: who has read the bible?

:smh: at bible carrying people sitting at the computer, looking at porn (which is a direct violation of what the bible teaches), with a bible in one hand and a hustler magazine in the other. Them motherfuckers are the worse. When debate time come, they shut you out with that familiar phrase" that is blasphemy and I will end the conversation now". Take that bullshit somewhere else. I go to church when I am looking for a freak to fuck!!

You may laugh now but it shall be me who has the last laugh once Jesus comes to reclaim the crown as the Lord of Lords, King of Kings. While you burn in the lake of fire you will see me reclined on the fluffiest of Cumulonimbus eating a lightly toasted bagel spread with Philadelphia Cream Cheese. As you look to me and my fully extended wings in jealousy I shall look at you while taking a sip of my freshly squeezed lemonade and say "AHHHHHHHHH....that's refreshing".

, yeah ok..and you are here why??

This:hmm:

1: there are atheists right here on bgol who hate fags, so who's to say it still wouldn't end up like that.

#2: you're still missing the point. Religion isn't the cause, it's a symptom; one of the manifestations of our irrational nature. You can be an atheist and fanatical about race, politics, nationalism, etc. If religion disappeared overnight, ourirrational nature would find another way to express itself. Religion doesn't deserve any special priviledge and ut ought to be challenged. But to say that if everyone became atheist and learned science that the world would solve all it's problems is just
1. Of course JD Walker hates fags. But seriously, I doubt he is going to organize other non-believers nationwide to ban gay marriage. That shit ain't happening. It's mostly the religious people that are running around worrying about fetuses and gays.

2. I don't think all our problems would be solved if people abandoned religion, but it can't be argued that some would go away.

And what would replace religion? I haven't found atheists I know to replace religion with anything. Most aren't outspoken non-believers. They just put religion aside like as children we put Santa and the Easter bunny aside, nothing replaces those. Religion is just a tool to explain the unknown and to escape death. Non-belief is just letting science explain the unknown and accepting our death.

What irrational belief system as replaced religion in your life since you gave it up? What has it caused you to do? I can't think of any examples in my life.

Who says atheists don't attack other fanatical beliefs? xtianity and islam just happen to be the 2 of the biggest fanatical beliefs out there with a lot of political and economical power behind them, which is why they are attacked because that much irrationality shouldn't have that much power.

Again, I do not disagree with that point, but all I was saying is that many people act as if religion created irrational behaviour in humans, when all I was saying is that it is a product of it, and getting rid of religion will not change anything.

No, The Bible JUSTIFIES it. Which is even worse than creating it.

:lol:Now that is funny my brother:lol::lol:

1. Touche. But at the same time my point is still the same; that you can disbelieve in the religious stuff, and still hold irrational beliefs.

2. I'm curious, which problems IYO would disappear with religion and why?
It's easy to say that now, since we're in the minority. However look at recent history like Soviet Russia, Maoist China, and north Korea (and NO I am not blaming atheism either) and you tell me that atheism automatically = "rationality".

You're equating irrationality with wacky religious beliefs. Irrationality stems from our emotions. Think about it. Is it 'rational' to look at moving images on a screen that coincides with sounds coming from multiple speakers and feel some sort of emotional connection, or at the very least simultaneously accept that what's going on is real and not real at the same time? Religion is so POWERFUL cuz it taps emotions. EVEN RELIGIONS W/O a gOD (scientology). Rational thinking usually comes with an environment of relative comfort, and even then it still depends on the individual.

No, The Bible JUSTIFIES it. Which is even worse than creating it.

I'm not defending the bible:rolleyes: I'm simply saying that all this talk of getting rid of religion being the answer to the world's problems is bullocks.

He's not saying that irrational behavior is exclusive to religious folks he is however stating that someone who is religious is MORE LIKELY to be an irrational person. I know a lot of sound religious people and I know many people who aren't religious that are nuts BUT with that said being a faithful Christian is the equivalent of being a faithful Jedi or Sith Lord. I think we can agree that having someone who believes that they are the heir to the Imperial Forces running the Government is a bad thing. So why is it so hard to carry this sentiment over to a Christian or a Muslim? Is it because the stories they preach are a lot older? Why do they get a pass when self-proclaimed Siths, Klingons, and Jedis don't? I mean the stories are equally as silly when you put them side by side.

Dude, believe me I never disagreed with what you are saying. However I was just arguing the flipside that the whole world throwing off religion will be the saving grace of humanity is just bullocks.

1) bullshit. non-believers replace their non-belief in god with belief in other fantastical super-natural bullshit. like ufo's, space aliens, irrational mathematical "objects" and and theories (big bang bullshit, string crap, etc). ascribing agency and patterns to abstract shit we can't understand is human nature whether u like it or not.
2) I guarantee u that I can list several "scientific" claims off the top of my head that u and other non-believers in this thread c/s to the fullest but probably have no fucking clue why. Just relying on ur faith in the establishment.

more unfounded speculative bullshit. the statistics on physical scientists that are believers obviously contradicts this. And I suggest u go back and take a look at the history of our civilization. Leaders, emperors and kings that were self-proclaimed siths, kilngons, jedis or whatever aint nothing extraordinary. And it's not like shit's changed that much in these so-called modern times.

I don't think FORCED Atheism and/or non-belief qualifies. The non-belief I am speaking of would come from education, not banning religion. I think if a society as a whole evolves past religion they will end up a better society with more tolerance and less ignorance. Not perfect by any means, but better.

You seem to like to debate points just for the sake of debating. If I say the sun would come up tomorrow I bet you would say.... "bullshit, prove it."

What are us non-religious folks using our non-religion against? Are we going at gays? Are we flying planes into buildings or going on jihads? Are we killing doctors over embryos? What HARMFUL things have we replaced religion with? Do tell? I'm all ears.

You're leaps in comparison are hilarious. I have faith if I open the fridge the food I put in is still there. I have faith my car should still be in the garage. I have faith in a lot of shit, but it isn't going to have me voting irrationally or hating a group of people or behavior like religion. Having faith in religious dogma is a whole different level of bullshit and has led to bullshit.

How stupid are some of the religious people? In 2004 the religious right used gay marriage to steal Ohio in the election. They relied on the church to rally their members to go to the polls. People voted against their own interests over what some irrational religion told them.

When you start seeing non-believers do that shit, holla. When have you ever heard one group of non-believers wage jihad on another because they don't believe in the same aliens as us. Where is the non-believer science war?

Honestly, I think faith is not necessary at all in life as many religious people like to say. A few years ago I got in a discussion with one of my ex-female friends about faith and she said that I indeed have faith and said that I have faith that I will get up tomorrow morning. I told her..."I don't have faith that I'm going to wake up tomorrow...I have prove which is the fact that I've been waking up everyday for the past 24 fucking years. Is there a probability that I won't? Yes but that would go against everything that has transpired the past 8,760 days. Therefore the burden of proof will be on you to demonstrate that I need faith in the fact that I'm going to wake up." I had the cold hard numbers and that is all I need to prove to me that I will wake up tomorrow...no faith required.

Niggas acting like if they prove the big bang theory was wrong tomorrow an atheist group would show up on TV tomorrow like......

riiiight. this is a debate. nah. i'm not really concerned about convincing u guys about shit. I'm just here to call out weak ass arguments. bullshit like "1+1=2 is a fact" and Russell's (gay) teapot"

Dude, ur beliefs are fixed. I'm not stupid enough to think i'm about to change them. So you cite religious fundamentalists, they cite serial killers. Y'all play the comparison game back and forth forever. U have ur opinion, they have theirs. This circular argument based on opinion goes on ad infinitum.

So it's safe to say that the crux of ur argument is that there's a special brand of non-religious irrationality whose consequences to society are benign. Right? Good. Because up until now the main argument was centered around irrationality or religion. Ight, now that we have that squared away, WTF compelled the all the fuckedupness of human civilization prior to institutionalized religious systems?? What brand of irrationality compels the mother who throws her 1yr old baby into a meat grinder or NYPD pigs that maintain their quota of murdering at least 20 unarmed black people a year?

see this bullshit again? so is it still substantive proof if you've only been waking up in the morning for 1 week? how about 2 days? how about the first time u ever slept outside the womb? those numbers cold and hard enough for u?
U get in a car and drive to where ever the fuck it is u drive to everyday. I guess the "fact" that your ass hasn't been fucked up by a head-on collision with a 18 wheeler is "proof" that tomorrow u wont die. After all, u have the cold hard numbers.
foh.

the big bang theory is already irrational. U super rational kats have no problem believing in the physical existence of some shit which has no shape or size but has mass just because some stupid cac from Oxford U. in a wheelchair says so.

Oh wait. My bad. [JD Walker]U don't know shit about math and astrophysics.[/JD Walker]

I never said I would never die I simply stated that I'm sure that if I go to sleep I will wake up the following day based on the fact that it's been happening more than 8,000 days straight. There's other factors in life that can cause me to perish but we weren't talking about that...we were talking in a pure literal sense.

Bruh, again, how is our non-belief telling us to do crazy shit? Who is killing over big bang? Come on man.

Our non-belief isn't a problem until the rare occasion one of us goes apeshit and tries to kill believers(evil dictator), other than that, how does our non-belief advance irrational dogma that hurts others?

I've seen your 1+1 argument at least twice now and knew you were doing that as soon as JD set you up for it.

I also knew that JD has done more dodging and ducking on BGOL than any woman posted in it's history and that would be the end of your exchange.

As opposed to totally fabricated Biblical FAIRY TALES, which have no basis in science or rationality, let alone resemble any form of recognizable human existence???

Ducking and dodging? The only dodging I've seen was from your mother when she tried to dodge the facial I gave her.

Extra moist Charmin ass niggas like you are always trying to talk slick. Nigga softer than Diarrhea.

the big bang theory is already irrational.

Please explain to the class why the big bang theory is irrational. Do not leave out crucial pieces of information such as M Theory and the recent CONFIRMATION that Dark Matter does indeed exist and that the Universe is flat.

i understand. but what i'm asking is does it matter if it's 8000 days, 8 weeks or 8 days?
