***Official 2010 FIFA World Cup Thread***

I was wondering this myself. Why does african support seem much smaller to that of the opposition? I wonder if cats would rather watch the tourney from the comfort of their homes.

They cannot afford it, and the South Africans fans are not doing their job... They are supposed to pack these games with African teams and support them. That is what we wanted and expected...

cosign. this should have been a comfortable 3 points...

Philip Le Guin knows something all the coaches in Europe do not know; Eto'o one of the best strikers in Europe, is a midfielder who should support a player called Webo.. Cameroon should be ashamed of this.

Not feeling this game. If you want to know how to win the world cup, take a look at this

Lots of intersting stats, you will be pleased to see that the current world cup nation that commits the most fouls (based on the last six tournaments) is not an African one!

I will be back to see the organised boredom that is Italian football later on

So Cameroon don't know what to do with the ball when they get in the Japan half. They keep thinking of where to pass and end up heaving a toward pass to Japan.

Maybe Emana makes a difference. He seems like the spark they need.

But they have no system.. They do not know how to move without the ball. Everytime a Cameroonian haw the ball, he is surrounded by 3 Japanese; every time the Japanese have the ball, there are 3 of them around the Cameroonians... This is just basic football, knowing how to use space...

The first reason why this stupid coach needs to go is that he made Eto'o play a central, and even defensive midfield role.. and promoted this bulb headed idiot, Webo, to the place where Eto'o should be... I mean, how can you misuse a million dollar striker like that? This motherfucker must hate Eto'o..

Decided to finally check out the world cup this morning and the horns make it unbearable to watch. If they continue to let people use those this will go down as one of the biggest blunders in sports history!

yeah...that was a fucking great save...

Damn all credit to Japan for holdin it down. Like Robbie Mustoe was saying, it was all basic defending from their part. Good discipline, organized, and solid in the back.

To be fair to Cameroon, they had their chances as well, but you gotta finish.

That was a great match.

:smh:Japanese baffle Cameroon on the pitch and out support them in the stands...:smh:

If my Ivorians come with anything remotely close to this bullshit, Im done.

Exactly what I saw in Cameroon, and just what I predicted....They think that their job is to qualify out of Africa, and after that, they owe no one anything else. They are out of the World Cup; they are not going to beat either Denmark or Holland, never mind both. The football association needs to fire Le Guin right now. There is no need to wait until after the World Cup. Give the job to Emmanuel Kunde and let him start evaluating these players for the future. Any coach who makes Eto'o a midfielder and puts bulb headed man in the number 9 position does not know what he is doing..

The first change I would make, is to take the left back of Cameroon and move him into midfield. All day long, he was their most skilled player on the Ball. Of course I would put Eto'o and number 9 and keep the goalie. For the rest of the pisitions, there would be an evaluation process.

Yo man...what is up with the African teams...only 1 win so far

The game was won and lost in midfield. Do not listen to any American, they run their mouths and spout ignorance. If you want to learn real football, listen carefully to Ruud Gullit and Klins-Nazi-man. The midfield is the first line of defence and the chinks simply were able to choke off supplies to the Cameroonia forward. They were also able to put numbers around him and isolate him from the lazy Cameroonian midfield that never came up to support the strikes and very rarely went back in defence. They just stood around and let their forward and back 4 play man to man defence. The Chinks chocked out the spacing and tackled well enough in numbers to leave the isolated Cameroonian defender or winger no room.

Ruud Gullit questioned the staffing of the Cameroonian midfield. He is more familiar with the players than I am. I could see within the first 4 minutes that they were disjointed in midfield, and that their problem would be hard to correct. You can see it from my comments from the start of the game..

What you need is a skilled midfielder like Paul Gaxcoigne, Andreas Iniesta or JJ Okocha to beat some people and draw away the coverage. That is how you open up a clogged defence. Taking the ball to the wing is not the answer because the Japanese were always defending in numbers... This why a person like Lionel Messi is so valuable because he goes in an causes the defence to shift towards him and open day light.

The other part is is the movement off the ball by the Cameroonians. This where coaching comes in, and I am sorry, they were terrible at it. They tackled harder in the second half and slowed the Chinks but they really did not move well in open space. The best teams at this are Brazil and Argentina. The Mexicans try it, but they are not in the league of Brazil of the Nazi from th River Plate...

This is quality Cameroon used to be good at, but like Mike Tyson, they abandoned their skill set some time ago, thinking they can overpower people just because they are Cameroon. Where is the brilliance in midfield of Makanaki and Paul Louis Mfede? Of the Biyik brothers? This bullshit these bullshit European coaches have Cameroon and Nigeria playing is not African football.

Oh Cameroon I can't bear the humanity. :smh:

Damn... I am telling you this is the lowest point for Africa... Unfortunately, all this does is pump Korea for Nigeria..Fortunately, the Nigerians have more skilled players than the rabble village nonsense I saw in the Cameroon uniform. If Lagenback calls a good system, Nigeria should beat Korea easily.
