Mavs don't look that bad to me. Maybe it's because I don't see a lot of their games but Mavs and Jazz could both be #2 at end of the season and can challenge L.A. Dirk is a beast in the playoffs and if Erick Dampier and their other bigs can perform. You never know. They can make some noise. L.A. benefits HEAVILY from big man play. If any team can have 2 to 3 big men actually come in and get physical, the Lakers can be beaten.

We did beat them in the Staples center this year and I have read where some scouts have said we could be a threat to the Lakers

We have a motivated damp(contract year), gooden, and dirk....for Gasol and Bynum

They have athletic guards off the bench in farmar and brown and we got roddy b and JJ

Lakers have that wildcard in Odom and Kobe of course...we have jet who might come off the bench and light you up for 20+

Dude the Cavs beat the Magic twice, and when they played the last time Jamison wasn't yet acclimated to the system, plus big Z wasn't there, causing Shaq to get into foul problems, and once he went to the bench, Howard basically had his way with the power forwards that had to try to guard him.
No way do the Magic get those same looks with both Shaq and Big Z playing.

How are you going to say that the Cavs didn't get better? Do you relize that the Cav team that played a better last years Magic team close, is now comming of the bench. Big Z (coming of the bench), West (bench), Varejao (bench), Mo (injured). Out that team, only James is starting now. Last year they got exposed, because they didn't have anyone who could guard Howard 1 on 1, and they got caught time after time, with their rotation, leaving the wing men wide open for the three.
With Shaq, the Cavs can now play Howard strait up, and with Parker, they now have a big guard who can guard the wing.
As evident during the first game against the Magic, Orlando are now the ones who seem to have match up problems. Howard has a hard time guarding Shaq one on one, and there isn't anyone on the team who can guard James one on one.
I think the Magic have taken a step back, this year, and instead of looking forward, Orlando should be looking over their shoulders, because I would not be the least surprised if Atlanta or, who knows perhaps the upstart Bobcats, step up and bump them off.
