Let me also add, if all you do is surf the web and type papers, then yes, Macs would be overpriced, however, these machines will last you 7 years minimum. I run my machine through the ringer and I NEVER have to do any reinstall, "maintenance", mandatory hardware upgrades of any sort.

Running VMs on a Mac is nothing new. You just so happen to have the hardware capable of handling multiple VMs. good for you.
