Man, the money they made off that song. You don't even know the fast one they pull on the WORLD on that album.

I'll speak on it later, but let's just say Q, Lionel, and Mike made MORE money than what was donated Ethiopia.

Naw you're the fuckin idiot

They could have done a brand new song, instead of fuckin up a classic. That shits absolutely horrible.

So now your dumb ass knows what Michael Jordan would have done :hmm:

Speak on it nigga!

Anybody got a link to the song? I've never even heard about it until now.

I truly and honestly believe that MJ would have wrote a completely new original song for this situation. Whch is what those involved should have done in the first place

After listening to the vid, he actually expressed a respectable opinion and I agree with him. Making a new song would have been a better idea.

But when dealing with time-constraints, it's very difficult to be creative in this day and age.

I agree with Jay they should left it alone. Just like during 911 they should left Marvins song alone too.

who the fucc cares what jay-z thinks?

ummm, the person on the red carpet who asked?...:dunno:

You would also wanna check the multiple sites it's on, and see the streams of people who have a take on what he said. This threads already two pages as a matter of fact.

You dojn't have to adore him to know what one of the most prominent artists in hiphop thinks about a particular piece of music. It aint like it's Afghanistan or something. Just music.

And whaddya know? many people share his opinion.

I was trying not to listen to it, but I couldn't resist last night

It shows how bad music is right now

After Jennifer Hudson it went completely down hill, quickly

Akon, Wyclef and T-Pain :smh:
LL, Will I Am and Kanye :smh:

It's for a good cause so it's all good, but I don't plan on listening to it. The first one is untouchable.

"Ughng, 12days no water, whats your will to live!?"

Theres just so much wrong with this song, i dont know where to start. And who was that little white bastard to start off this abortion?

Charity FAIL.:smh:

you know how many songs have been made about helping other people? You make it sound like an impossible feat:smh::smh:

And Jay even explained that his song with Bono and Rihanna was just that- a new song- not at all as monumental as WATW, but few are. That's why it should be left untouched.

At least "Stranded" deals directly with the situation in Haiti. That's the point- to update the feeling and speak to what's happening NOW.

Man the song got Michael Jackson vocals on it. There's more money in putting out a song with Michael Jacksons vocals on it then there is some damn Jay-Z and Rihanna song. Seriously. If Lionel and Quincy want to remake the song they dropped 25 years ago let them. Jay is my favorite rapper in the game but i'm so sick of niggas acting like his opinion on something actually means something. He's entitled to it of course but don't hold that nigga shit any higher than the next mans.

C'mon son!
You know that remake stinks like hot garbage. And just because it's for a good cause it should be excused for being terrible? The first song was brilliant. This was a fail. If they really wanted to do something for the cause, they should have taken the time to do something good instead of trying to jump on the Haiti Bandwagon while it was a hot topic.

What's the benefit of hopping on the Haiti bandwaggon? Niggas from Haiti gonna go out and buy their albums or some shit? And whether the remake is garbage or not I don't know. I mean I don't know how to feel about it. It sounds similar to the original to me so I guess someone would have to tell me how one can be brilliant and how the other is garbage. Is it because of the rap influence? Or the autotune? Too many niggas on it and not enough white people? Its for a cause. That's why you see garbage ass artists like Miley Cyrus and WillIAM singing vocals on it.

I aint comparin how much money it will make to anything. The point is to make a song for charity- I answered the original silly ass question.

And of course, Quincy and Lionel Richie can do whatever they want.

I respect them. Jay stressed that he respects em.

I have a right to think it's a stupid ass idea.

They asked Jay and he said his opinion.

Most of us said it was GAHBAGE this weekend when we heard it. I thought it was a stupid idea off top.

No one is saying they don't like it, just cuz Jay aint. It's just a post, cuz dude is famous. Doesn't mean his opinion holds any more weight than the next man, but it is funny how mad people get just cuz he said the same shit thousands of people are saying.

It's my own opinion that the remake sucks ass. I'm entitled to that. If it works for you, cool.
I didn't make up the fact that they rushed that song out. You can check the producers in interviews talking about it. Why the need to rush it out? To get on the "bandwagon" that was the hot topic of Haiti's tragedy all over the media. If the project was already underway, they definitely exploited Haiti to get a boost.

I don't understand this aspect of it. The song's proceeds to go the Haiti fund. Shouldn't we get money out there as soon as possible while it still on peoples minds? Remember how "american" we were after 9/11? Now 9 years later you don't hear anyone speak on that shit until 9/11 comes. Americans are fickle and we're a "hop on the bandwaggon" society. That's reason for rush.

And your entitled to your opinion. I don't recall saying your opinion was wrong or right I was just asking a simple question. What's the difference between this one and the one that dropped 25 years ago? You described the previous one as "brilliant" and I want to know what made that one brilliant and this one hot garbage? And its not that I like the song. Frankly, i'd probably give the money to charity and tell them to keep the song or cd or whatever the fuck they're giving for donations.

The point is to make the song for charity which is why it would make more sense to drop a 25th anniversary of We Are World then some new bullshit which would probably have Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift singing lead vocals. And btw, whatever happened to that one We Are the World shit that went like wood a couple of years ago for 9/11? That's why you can't create new shit. From an artistic point of view I see your point. But from a money point of view it makes more sense to go with We Are the World again.

You can create new shit. They should have created a new song with all that talent in the room. The fact that this is the first time I have heard this is the reason they should have created a new song. He's right it sucks, ass.

WTF was up with Kanye............................:lol::lol::lol::lol:

Was Jay-Z right with that stat about 1 out of 2 Americans texting donations?

Because I would think young people less likely to donate and old people less likely to have cell phones.
