why should i buy Macbook Pro?

A lot of people bring in there Macs because they can't figure something out and they bring it in the store for them to fix. Also you can take classes on Macs and use your own Mac so you can learn with your files.
If you want a truly BAD ASS laptop, check out the Sony VAIO Z Series coming in March. This shit is an absolute BEAST!
Announced at CES with a "late Spring" availability, we just got word that the Core i7-620M pumpin' VAIO Z series from Sony will be hitting Europe in late March. The Z's biggest claim to fame is its ultra-fast Quad SSD, a rather unique Sony innovation that writes data in parallel to four SSDs (up to 256GB total capacity in RAID 0) at speeds up to 6.2x faster than typical 5400 rpm laptop hard disks. Sony also fits the Z with a hybrid graphics solution that combines 1GB of NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M with Intel HD graphics allowing you to automatically (or manually) switch between "speed" and "stamina" modes... presumably without requiring a logout if we're reading "dynamic" correctly. Rounding out the specs are 6GB of DDR3 SDRAM, 802.11n WiFi, integrated optical drive, and optional VAIO Everywair 3G mobile broadband module all stuffed into this 13.1-inch laptop with 1920 x 1080 pixel LED backlit display with 210 x 23.8-32.7 x 314mm and 1.43kg footprint. When i got mine i saw it as a solid investment... Meaning i could very well still be using this very same laptop for the next five to ten years without falling behind...
The adware, spyware, virus's and many other exploits drove me away from pc...(I had both my desktop and laptop crash at the same time-both only a lil more than a year old

i think u covered everything except that it'll work for atleast 3-5 years without u ever having to upgrade the software or hardware

for me it was simply removing the back plate and unscrewing a couple of screws..that simple. they set it up so with the right screw driver (get a set of mini drivers from the dollar store or a t6 depending on how they carry it)
the key is to either do the upgrades right away or setup time machine and do a complete time machine backup before you upgrade.
Its pretty simple to avoid getting virus, You dont need a MAC for that...
I fell for the Sony hype last February and look what it got me just a year later.
Sony makes cheap stuff and they even refused to honor the warranty since I purchased it at Best Buy and didn't have the receipt. This VAIO may be cheaper when comparing initial retail prices but this computer will cost you more and more over time when it starts falling apart. Sony's cheap garbage isn't even in the same league as Apple's. Do not fall into the money pit it is not worth it at all.

funny thing is that semester i took an Intro to DOS course. i sat in the first class looking like

I got a mac mini and got it upgrade at Macsales. Needless to say Im working on getting a Macbook now.
With my business time cost me money and staying up late debugging for 6hours cause I downloaded a messed up file from somewhere was a pain.
Ended up downloading a program and now almost through with my first built website. Rapidweaver.
Cant see going back. Im not a tech head or nothing but seems to work better for me and what I need it for. It is a pretty penny but for me an extra 1k seems to be worth it. Not ONE virus or pop up on some dumb shit that I dont understand. Almost priceless for me.

Damn, that's a fucked up break. So you can't turn that shit on anymore since it appears the actual power button broke off? As for this new one, it appears to have a better build quality since it's made from carbon fiber, and the power button is molded into the design versus your model. I am still going to wait and read some reviews though. Not willing to spend $2k+ on some shit that's going to break on me. I'll be one pissed mofo if that shit happens for real!
That's true with most operating systems fam. There are XP users running XP today and many still don't plan to move up. Same with Linux users.

I expect problems from all manufacturers in all industries but it's the frequency of the issues and the severity of them that matter. I don't think it's any secret that Apple computers are more reliable but also better serviced when they do have issues when compared to Sony. I can bring a Mac into an Apple Store and they will fix it based off the serial number alone. With Sony if you do not have a Receipt you're screwed and they will not honor the warranty which is what happened to me.

i was able to talk the Mac guy into charging me the cheaper of their flat labor rates for something like this. less than a year later, shit happened again out the blue. this time Mac paid for it, no questions asked. they handled the shipping coming and going.

I have a MacBook Pro 15in, Powerbook G4 12in, and plan on getting an iMac 27in.
My Macbook Pro is almost a year old and my Powerbook G4 is about 5 yrs old and both run just as well a they did when they first came out the box. I have had no problems with either one.
Really, the only reason why I bought the Macbook Pro was because of the Intel switch, allowing for greater versatility.
I'll never knock anyone for buying a PC laptop, but a Mac just works for me.
It allows me to do really scientific intensive work that I need to do for my schooling and career and it also provides a great machine that can be very productive for my creative endeavors as far as music (Logic Pro) and Artwork (CS4).

Macs overpriced? Macs are only overpriced when a new processor hits the market like the now that the core i7 is becoming more widely available. I priced an HP and a Dell before buying my macbook made sure they had a LED backlit screen and the whole nine. They were both more expensive even with the rebates they give you. You have it backwards, a PC depreciates a mac holds it's value far longer. I priced used macs also. Don't buy used unless you get a hell of a deal.
How many folks will take the time to figure out how to play a dvd on their distro of choice? Or watch a certain video? Linux is not the answer because there are 100 different answers for every different problem depending on your set up. You could take hours googling a simple problem and still not find the correct answer.
Every PC user doesn't need a mac but Linux isn't the answer either.
The thing I realized is how much time I am not spending keeping my laptop up to par and that my Mac is a joy to use and well thought out.
Unless they want a computer that doesn't require disk defrag, or they don't want to worry about viruses, malware, etc. Unless they just want a computer that works when they needed. Unless they want a computer that doesn't require you to reload the OS at least once a year to get it running like it did when you purchased it. Unless they want a system than can run both Windows and OSX (as well as pretty much any other OS).
If they don't care about any of that.. and COST is their own concern.. then yea, I'd recommend aPC all day any day...
