I dont know if anyone else is up on it yet, but check out Flyscreen. its a free app in the market that actually makes your lockscreen more useful by adding weather, sms, gmail, news and other widgets.. kinda hot.

will that fuck with the display when u show the alarm/dock app? i used that shit last night and instead of going blank it went into a low green setting that was cool.




props dm on the monoprice link - i dont know why i didnt go there when i needed cables for my pre- i normally go there. i got my microusb for a few bucks though and its a palm. I like the sturdy microusb cable the n1 comes with. I got a $5 motorola car charger that is microusb

I'm looking for a free app that lets me lock certain pics, so when people look thru my photos certain pics won't get shown... any ideas

Go to the marketplace and get Astro - create a new folder called .whatever - name it what you want but put the . in front
its a linux operating system and folders that start with periods are hidden
the Gallery app does not show pics in folders that are hidden
tried it on a N1 and it worked

YES SOME WORK, When I first got my G1 I dropped the btch on concrete and it cracked my screen. I got another G1, got a screen protector and I must have dropped it 20 times in a years time and the screen never cracked. I guess, u have to look at the fact, my screen protector was a little thick, I don't know what most of my bgolers are rocking, at first I got a mirror screen protector, far as looks it was dope, because it was fukn mirror the downside to having a mirror screen protector, if your trying to show your friend a pic or anything on your phone, it makes it hard for somebody next to you to see (great for privacy) also when your outside the mirror screen protectors can be a btch. After my mirror screen protector got too agitating, and bubbling up, I went back to the mall and dude just had a regular screen protector, I dropped the phone a few times with that and i'm convinced far as protection goes, screen protectors help a lot, IT WONT SAVE U FROM ALL DISASTER, BUT ITS DEFINITELY WORTH HAVING, I never went through any issues with the sensors and having a screen protector on my G1, hope not to have any complications with the N1 and screen protector, then N1's screen is too big not to have some sort of protection, because it looks like 1 drop outdoors might cause some damage to this thin marvel. btw the screen on n1 looks like it has a little mirror tint already up in it.


far as locking some pics, i'm sure there are apps in the market that can lock entire pic galleries, i'm not sure if there's an app to lock individual pics though, there should be.

Forgive me for getting upset. After a while I just get tired of hearing about how great a phone/anything is. Its like we get the point now can we move on to the next.

Its all good bro, I know how it is, i went through similar in this thread and on another site, when mofo'z started taking over talking about rooting the G1, lol, I didn't see a need to root at the time, then all these mofo'z came in talking about how their so happy they rooted, then shyt became a rooted G1 against all the lames who hadn't rooted, lol. People with rooted g1 started bragging about all the stuff they could do, etc...I eventually rooted. Like I said in my review IT IS NOT A MUST HAVE. I luv it so far, but the only upgrade is large screen, speed, space, and things. Take your time bro, either the price will drop or something good will happen financially for you.

Nexus Screen Protectors:
I did a little research on screen protector and a lot of people were saying the same thing. There's a possibility the screen protector will confuse the proximity sensor. I bought the Seidio Screen Protector and it's as smooth a butter. It's cheap, looks and feels as if there isn't a protector on the phone, and the does not interfere with the proximity sensor.

Micro USB Adapter:
If you ever need to buy ANY type of cable, adapter, or cord go to Monoprice.com first. I bought four 3 foot micro usb cables for $1.13 a piece Link.

we're all fam playa, G1, moment, N1, etc.....we're all using the same Market, from my experience with the Market, it can be a little tricky sometimes. A few times i've searched for something and it displayed no results, then i'm searching Market for most popular apps and there it is. whatever app your looking for they have several sites online that are market replica's, so if u can't find it in Market, search online for the apk.

Text to speech has been working fine with me far as reading my text messages, but I tried that speech to text shyt to send a voicemail yesteready and that shyt has been inaccurate like a mofo, i tried it with g1 and now the n1 and it hasn't been accurate in messaging, even when I speak slow and clear. Google Voice search works good, but haven't had any luck with the speech to text in handcent.

Also Mak, I went to settings and I don't see anything that allows me to disable this lock screen sliding thing, I see some shyt that allows me set an unlock pattern, but I don't want none of that shyt, I just want it set up to when I wake my phone up I can start performing task.

Cincity I see your in Atl, there's a guy in Greenbriar Mall, AtoZ accessories or something, he usually has a lot of G1 accessories, that's where I bought both my screen covers, usb cables, dash mount, etc... i'm going there later this week to see if he has anything for Nexus yet. Dude has some good prices and some bad prices, the thing is i've saw him order shyt off his laptop b4, so I know i'm paying more since he has to make a profit, but i've ordered accessories offline and by the time I pay for shipping I don't save shyt and then I don't like waiting. But, if your looking for a protector for your G1, I think he sells them for like $7 or $8.

yeah that dude at greenbriar has all that. I do know back in the day when I had a razr, I bought a smooth brown leather case/holder for it from him, I don't know if he has different color cases for the g1 other than black.. my cheap azz never bought a case for the g1, the first day I got the g1 i went to the mall they didn't have a case for it then, i slipped in the case I had for my tmobile wing, it fit, and that's what i've been using since then, lol. But, the guy had Greenbriar has bluetooth starting at like $35 plus u can bargain shop with him. his bluetooths have good recepetion, he just has those cheap azz hooks, that will break, and u have to go back to him and pay 12 for another cheap ass hook. I guess the reason i keep going to him is i've never had a problem with echoes or anything. I once paid $89 at best buy for a motorolla bluetooth that had echoes, i bought 2 refurbished off ebay, same problem.
However all this was a couple years ago, technology has got much better.

That car dock looks pretty nice, I was hesistant to try it, but it's steady and safe----the n1 is being held by the same car kit that held my G1. It's suctions on my windshield/window. So I guess i'll go ahead and keep that, though i don't think it's be wide enough to hold the n1 in landscape. thx

I was on the xda forum reading through the accessories thread reading up on the google desktop dock. The folks over there are state if you have a case on the phone it will not work with the dock. The dock is made to work for the naked phone out a case or covering as it would be to thick to fit in the dock.

Royal, I'm not sure the G1 has a proximity sensor. I had my G1 for about 2 weeks and I don't remember it having one. I did very little research and I couldn't find any evidence that states the G1 has a proximity sensor.

The proximity sensor is a feature on the N1 works when you're talking on the phone and as you're placing the phone to your ear the phone goes into sleep mode. When you pull it away from your ear you'll notice the screen light comes back on and exits sleep mode. The sensor is under the screen. That's why picking the right screen protector is important. Test your G1 and see if the feature is present.

Better Keyboard really is a better keyboard. I really like but I uninstalled it because it reacts slow than the default keyboard on the N1.

more than being too thick - the dock doesnt plug into the microusb port like other docks - it just sits there - it connects audio and recharges through those 3 gold ports on the bottom of the phone - those little tiny holes
easiest case solution is a silicone case you can take off
I want to check out phantomskinz but the pieces for the phone are so small it looks like hell to put on
