I am hoping that someone can help me with a problem that I have with Firefox, either with a solution, or pointing me to some software that I can use . . .

I am having problems with redirects and new windows opening to other sites/ads when I try to go to various websites while using Firefox. It doesn't happen all the time, and it doesn't direct me to porn sites, but to a similar site of the one I was trying to reach:

Try to go to B&N --------> redirect to Doubleday books ad site
Try to go to Amazon -----> redirect to shopping.com
Try to go to Chase ------> redirect to BOA site

I am using AVG, have no script installed, and frequently run Advanced System Care and CCleaner. I have wiped all cache, cookies, etc., but the problem still crops up intermittently and is annoying as hell since I either have to close the extra window, or hit the back button to get to the site I originally was heading to before being redirected.

Any help will be appreciated!

Thanks for the help! I did some reading and saw how hosts files can be attacked. However, being somewhat a novice, I did not want to go messing around in my registry files.

I am going to try some programs like Malwarebytes (It did find I was Hijacked - let see if it gets rid of it now) and see if that works first.

what cyba said was to just see whats on the hosts file. use notepad to open up the hosts file
in windows xp that location is: C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\"hosts"

just check it out to see whats on that file

If you copy and paste the contents of the file I will tell you how to fix it. There is no personal information in that file so you don't have to worry.

The malwarebytes didn't seem to work. This evening I'll check to see what's in the file and post it. Thanks for the help.

This may be a tough one. There is a commercial credit restoration software that the one, some, or all of the major credit bureaus use to basically "erase" "errors" on your credit. This is suppose to be THE sh!t! I googled it but just could not find the right type of search string for an example that would best exemplify what I am looking for. I hope you have some idea of what I am speaking of. I appreciate it in advance.

no way you can erase errors on your credit without the big 3 doing it on their end. whatever you find is a scam.
unless its software that hacks into their system, which i doubt.

you want to correct errors, contact them
there are ways to contact them and have it removed but it involves some writing and footwork

i have no luck. have you looked into quickbooks?
quickbooks might be what you can use in the meantime. its been posted already and it has a proven track record of doing everything small business needs. i have it and have not even began to unlock its potential i just use it for simple invoices right now.

i urge you to check it out and its posted on the board already
