The common refrain is that Obama is "doing too much" not that he has been too much in the middle... The lesson taken from this will be to pursue moderate positions that are thought to appease the vast majority who identify as moderate or conservative.

Obama's absence of leadership on issues allowed the far right to define everything the dems have tried to do. The dems constantly under estimate the stupidty of the average American which is why they let health care get reduced to death panels. The high road / intellectual road will keep them out of power forever. Can we name one issue the democrats are out in front of defining things instead of reacting to outlandish republican claims. We went from Estate Taxes to Death Texas, Public Option to Government take over,
