Massachussetts about to Lose to a Republican Tea Party sympathiser?

How is she an idiot??? No one had a beef with her when she was just the Attorney General of the state. Now all of a sudden she's supposed to "dumb down" (and sell out) in order to appeal to the rednecks?

People are not gonna forget the way she did the Amerault family when she was a DA though. She has that against her as well as the fact that she hasn't been seen anywhere. This dude Brown is everywhere in the past two weeks. Add that to the fact that here in Massachusetts, all of her Ads on TV have been negative, and it looks like the Dems are scrambling to get their 60th.

I just hope that there is a huge turnout for the vote, because in that case Brown doesnt stand a chance.

All the campaigning in the world shouldn't mean shit when you're in the minority party. The hyping of the poll numbers is part of the republican strategy. Hard to tell how accurate they are. They're meant to inspire his crowd, but they may well have motivated the opposition.

Fact is, Coakley is sophisticated and intelligent. She's not into mucking around with the lowest common denominator the way the super-slick Brown is. Plus, she's CORRECT on the issues, which is all that should matter.

Part of the answer, of course, is that Brown has proved an engaging and indefatigable candidate, while Coakley’s campaign has been plagued with gaffes and missteps. Her claim in last week’s televised debate that the terrorists in Afghanistan are “not there anymore’’ suggested a dangerous naiveté on national security, while her huffy response when asked why she has been such a passive campaigner - “As opposed to standing outside Fenway Park? In the cold? Shaking hands?’’ - came across as sneering and elitist

Told ya.

If this happens, Obama is 1 and done. I know all the Obama hating coons are happy and waiting for this to happen. How the fuck is this even going on. :smh::smh::smh::smh:

The same way it happened in the Virginia gubernatorial race: they ran an unimpressive candidate and just thought that the people would elect a Democrat because it was Ted Kennedy's seat. The Democrats, like the Republicans before them, were lazy and didn't do any of the work they should have to insure they keep that seat.

It's premature to predict the demise of the Obama Presidency. Clinton lost the entire Congress early in his term, repositioned and won re-election handily.

Clinton didn't have such a huge fucking mess to deal with.

Clinton didn't have a large number of voters that somehow thought he said he was going to end a war he never said he would end(Obama and Afghanistan). This doesn't speak ill against Obama, just how stupid the typical America voter is.

I watched in horror as people that voted for Obama complained about him announcing more troops for the war. Damn there really should be some kind of test given before one is allowed to vote. :smh: :smh: :smh:

I feel you on the stupidity of the American voter/public but Obama's at least as smart as Clinton and should be able to pivot politically.
Plus the Republicans still have to field a candidate that people would want to vote for. A Senate seat or Gubernatorial race is a hell of a lot different than a national race.
Again, Bush I was going into 91 as a successful war president that no one wanted to run against. He lost. Clinton ran into even more setbacks than Obama in his first two years and he won. It's the time after the mid term elections that will tell what happens in 2012.

I'm begging everyone else who's been able to keep this thread adult, to ignore this attention whore here. I've given him too much attention already but I'm sacrificing in hopes to keep this thread above water.

No, I told you. She's above sucking up to people in the phony-ass way that Republicans do. If it's not her style then she shouldn't force it. I'm only concerned with her take on the issues. Shit, if she had posed half-nude like Brown did she wouldn't even be in the race, nevermind be taken seriously.

Politics is just as much relating with voters as it is being on the "right" (subjective term) side of the issue. You mustn't equate "sophistication" and "intelligence" with the ability to inspire, lead, and GET THINGS DONE. She does neither! I do not side with Brown's politically right-winged views, but he is garnering the support he needs to seat himself as the state senior senatorial representative. The state of Massachusetts is 60-70 percent democrat by registration, so why would a republican candidate lead the senate race if not the democratic representative is a bumbling idiot?

Ya hearing, Blunt?

You call that "sucking up"???

It's called campaigning. I bet you she has volunteers willing to do it for her for free, yet she's above doing it for herself???

Obama seemed unusually bold while attempting to carry water for Coakley yesterday.

They're really pushing this "getting our money back" versus the banks theme hard.

I think Obama has to take his part of the blame for this. He has ceartinly killed the lefts enthusiasm with his hands off approach to health care, Save wall street forget main street.

She will pull this out ...that brown dude is just bad news. This should be a wake up call for DEMS!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, it's silly old school shit. Anyone who's gonna be convinced to vote for her based on that nonsense doesn't deserve a vote at all.

No, "campaigning" is getting your message out. Letting people know what your positions are. All the other shit is a HUSTLE, that worked in the pre-media age for local two-bit politicians who knew how to glad-hand but had nothing substantive to say.

But they can and do vote.

But they can and do vote.

And they already KNOW who they're voting for. Right-Wingers with deep-rooted anti-Obama beliefs aren't gonna change their minds based on a handshake.

It's about getting her supporters out to the polls on election day. Period. If they haven't been motivated by the closeness of the race (and the endless campaign ads and phone calls) then that's on them.

Bingo.....Had Obama handled this better in June and July, and never let August happen with the astro-turf town halls, idiots yelling, "I don't want government run healthcare, leave my medicare alone!"

Had Obama got in front and this and led, not just showing up at a town hall here or there, but rolled up his sleeves and went to work on some of theses sorry ass Dem senators, this wouldn't be a problem.

Every Repub victory or near victory only emboldens them. How did the best campaign machine since Kennedy bought West Virginia in 1960 no see the slip in the polls? How did they not push more resources into Mass to make sure she is doing what she needs to and the vote is there?

Someone mentioned take one for the team when he votes for her. God Bless you for it. Obama ain't what I thought he would be, but I know what the Republicans care about and will do and I want no part of it for me or mine.

Exactly... She's a shitty candidate but Massachusetts is 2-1 Democrats and it's all about turnout, they can't be that apathetic in a race of this importance.

My vote has been casted!!!
Good luck Martha Coakley.
For the sake of the country, and future effective legislation,
I hope you win tonight!!!

Yeah....I went and did the dirty deed.

Funny to see a Kennedy on the ballot....and ignore him,as everyone else has...

But...I think the bitch is toast.

It's going to be a close race in MASS, I kinda hope the Dems lose that seat..maybe it will light a fire under their sorry asses.

Cmon man.. how long are you going to support a Pres that has not kept campaign promises? If we don't hold them accountable who will?

Damn Divine!! Give him a chance!!!
It has only been a year, and he was handed a
faltering country. If she does not win, it will be even harder
for him to do anything.

A year with a majority of both houses. If he couldn't get it done then.. when can he?

Like what?

I saw his rally for Coakley at which he reiterated that he has kept his campaign promise to cut taxes for 95% of Americans... That doesn't quite seem to pass the smell test with me; he even said that if Scott Brown was in the Senate "he would have voted against those taxes! Tax cuts. He would've voted against those tax cuts!" Seemed like a ready made ad for the GOP promoting a freudian slip, I'm surprised it wasn't exploited.

Correction:

Obama has made colossal promises which has been hard to fulfill due to inner bickering within his political party. Hopefully, his sophomoric tenure will prove to be different in terms of GETTING HIS AGENDA DONE.

Here are the latest results for the senatorial election:

Brown 52%
Chokely 47%
Other (who cares)

the Klan agrees with you on voting tests.

anyway I voted for Obama, was FULLY AWARE of his b.s. Afghanistan position (which I know he had to take to get elected since the military industrial complex runs the joint) and I STILL CRITICIZED HIM. See, thats how you're supposed to do things: support policies you're for and oppose ones you're against. voting for a president DOES NOT mean you sign onto his entire agenda and have to STFU for 4 years.
