Here's the catch:

Say you could be the General Manager of 1 Professional Sports team - what would you do different this season/off-season to help your team improve.

Obviously, this thread is targeted towards teams who are losing or lost in their regular season but I expect other teams doing ok (i.e. Dallas Cowboys fans to voice their GM choices as well).

Personally, I'd love to be the GM for the Mets this offseason.

All I've been hearing about in NYC are the Yankees making moves since the last few years. Going back to them getting CC, Burnett, and Tex, to now getting Granderson and pitcher Vasquez... while my Mets are sitting with their dick in their hands.

They haven't even aggressively gone after Jason Bay or Matt Holliday while the Phillies just got Doc Holliday so you know our division is going to be near impossible to win next year.

The Mets need pitching more than anything. After J Santana and K Rod and a few young pitchers - the pitching staff is just basura - at least they were this year.

The Red Sox signed pLackey and the Cards got B Penny - 2 pitchers I thought were good to go after in free agency. shit, the Yankees traded for Vasquez and resigned Pettit... making them have IMO one of the best pitching rosters.

Here is what I'd do if I was GM instead of Omar:

1) Sign 2 pitchers: Get Jarrod Washburn and Erik Bedard. If not Bedard, then Ben Sheets. Pitching helps get teams into the playoffs. Spend some money on them. We are a NYC team and we have money.

2) Sign Jason Bay! Don't let him get away to the Sox or Cards. Give him 70 million for 4 years with 3 guaranteed. He's young and will be an All Star for at least 3 more years. I like him more than Holliday because him having faced a tougher AL East divison of pitchers will be ready to face Doc Holliday of the Phillies.

3) Don't sign Johnny Damon. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES sign this dude. He had a good year but he is OLD and not worth spending money. Also DO NOT sign Vlad Guerrero.

4) Get a status update on all the current roster players.

Find out how healthy Jose Reyes, Carlos Beltran, and David Wright as well as Jeff Francouer.

We have good players. We just need them healty.

5) Finds ways to eliminate useless payroll costs by the end of this 2010 year so that we can go after Joe Mauer/Cliff Lee/V-Mart in Winter 2010.

i'd be the GM of the Falcons and resign Vick. no need to expound....u already know what im gonna say....

I'd want to be the GM of The Oakland Raiders... i'd fucking clean house

C/S. I would line up every employee (including JR) and I would advise them if they ever came back to the facility they would be shot on sight!

Then I would make a call to Shanahan and tell him it's your team coach, hire all coaches, you have total control.

i'd keep fargus, bush, cut or trade dmac, keep JR 3rd string till his contract was up then let him go. upgrade the o line.

GM for the bears.
Cutler and Lovie would be hung upside down
lets not even start on the offensive line and the receivers

GM for the Clippers

LOL, that's what I was gonna say.

The Clips have a lot of potential. Upper management is just garbage. Dunleavy would be shown the unemployment line if I ended up controlling the team. Then I would try to get Corey and Elton back. The formula was supposed to be Baron/Corey/Elton and they would have a hell of a team to get out from under the Laker's shadow.

Same could be said for the Redskins.

Definitely my raiders! But something tells me that would be one HELL of a job with all of the high priced 1st rd picks and high priced off-season aquisitions fucking Al made!!!

Oakland Raiders
Year Median salary Total Payroll
2009 $ 925,880 $ 111,527,250

Player
Heyward-Bey, Darrius

Base Salary

Total Salary

:smh::smh:

Corey...Although he's strong, has a horrible basketball IQ and is 1 of the dumbest players in the league. Not to mention that both he and EB are injury prone:hmm::smh:

I go with home town team and take the Nets

Keep CDR, Terrence Williams, Brooke Lopez, and Devin Harris. Pray I get first pick, get John Wall, and with the extra money get a free agent like Amare, or a Joe Johnson, then get a up and down tempo coach, and bring back a few years ago when they were fun to watch them.

The Bulls... The fans deserve better than theyve gotten for the most part. Keep Rose and Noah and start from the ground up. Del Negro was in over his head so I wont put it all on him, he can be someone assistant if they want him, but Id bring B scott or see if Hubie wants to coach. I like Rose but he needs a lead dog because I havent seen it in him yet. Id try to make a run at Wade after this season or see if Durants is trying to jump ship after next season. The Bulls need a go to guy, not just another guy who can play. So I feel like if I cant get a star, then leave the team alone until I can get one while hoping that Rose learns how to play to his talent level, and Noah keeps working to get better on Offense.

smart man.

I like challenges so I would work with the Nets too.

The Nets already have a damn good piece. A big man who can score rebound and play defense.

I would tank the rest of the season and hope to get the number one pick. If I do get the number one pick I have a big advantage now. (Wall)

I can trade Devin Harris. Who is still young and contract is very friendly. I could move him to a contender looking for a ring and see what I can get.

Courtney Lee is okay but at best he might be a defensive stopper or a sixth man.

I would surround Brook with shooters. Make teams pay when they double him.

Yup...

If I was GM the 1st thing I would do is FIRE bum ass Dunleavy & hire a Coach who'd specialized in PGs and the #2 position.

Byron Scott would be on my radar & would be effective in trying to help motivated Baron to lead the team like a true PG is suppose to.

I would also trade old ass Camby, Ricky Davis, and Kaman

:hmm::hmm::hmm:

Warriors.. I'd fire DICK Nelson and change tha whole team around.. I would've said Raiders (I'd get em to a Super Bowl in no more than 3 years) but tha GM has no power in Oakland (clears throat: Al Davis)

I'd be the GM of the Knicks-- You think Obama inherited a mess...

Sheeeeiiiiiitttt.
I'd only take that job under ONE CONDITION.....

1. ABOSLUTELY NO interference from Dolan. Whatsoever. :smh::hmm:
What the GM say GOES... as far as Draft Picks. Coaches. Playing Time. Trades. Etc.

He can only visit the office to sign paychecks, if he even feels like showing up.
Cuz I'd only want to see / hear from him ONCE a month. Preferably NEVER. To sign checks. Then bounce.

And close the door behind you. :hmm:

Only then... would i even consider it.

Detroit Pistons

I'd Package Maxiell, Prince, and Bynum for a Center who can give us 15 and 10! Get a servicable back up for Stuckey! Hire Avery Johnson or Byron Scott. And with the lottery pick we get this year if I can't get a 6'10 or taller guy trade it !
