anyone can help me out here?

hey BlackLS430... i know, i know this question again... do we have to make a clean install this time (i think the drivers are not an issue, right?)
You can do an upgrade with this one from Vista

Anybody having troubles installing this damn thing? When it gets to expanding files it stalls... sometimes at 1%, sometimes at 14%, and sometimes at 48% and then I have to physically shut the power switch off. I read on the net that it could be the blank media I use to burn the ISO on, it could be the burn speed is too high, or that the drivers for my drives need to be updated. I've tried 3 different brands of media, lowered the burn speed to 4x but it still freezes up at various percentages during "expanding files". I'm sure the drivers for my drives are up to date and I couldn't change them if I wanted to because my HD is wiped clean for this install... any suggestions?
ok... now that i used the loader and works fine, can i turn on the microsoft update?...![]()

yeah... can i turn Microsoft Update on ON?![]()
Ok the DVD is burned
How do I do this?
Restart the CPU with the DVD inside? or just insert the DVD and install from there
you are doing a clean install? if so, when you turn your pc on, press f2 (when you see it as an option on your screen), change your boot option to boot from cd. save, and then the pc will restart and boot the windows set up screen.
Which install is better?
depends, i know black would recommend a clean install. what os are you using now? 32 or 64 bit? which os will you be installing, 32 or 64 bit? if you currently have 32 bit, you need to do a clean install to go to 64 bit. but going from 32bit vista to 32 w7, you can just upgrade (by only inserting the disc and following the directions), which means your apps and stuff wont get deleted. if you are going from any version of xp, a clean install is recommended.
so here are your options:
32 (any os) to 64 - clean install
32 vista to 32 w7 - upgrade
any version of xp - clean install
64bit vitsa to 64 bit w7 - upgrade
64bit vista to 32 bit w7 - clean install.
clean install=everything gets lost
upgrade - all apps and settings remain.
do a backup of your entire os before proceeding. do a search on an app called Arconis. Perform a back up, and a boot disk. save the back up to an external hd. MAKE SURE YOU MAKE A BOOT DISK, HIGHLY IMPORTANT. after your backup finish, then check the first page and follow Blacks instructions, based on what you are doing.
I have Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit on a computer that is approximately 8 months old. I'm hoping to install the Windows 7 Ultimate 64 that I downloaded from this thread....So it looks like I'll be doing an upgrade...
I'll do those backups that you are talking about right now.
damn much props on this. but is it at all possible for a brotha to get a 1 linker.
I'm about to charge this free shit to the game and pay them $30 for that student upgrade to 32-bit Win7 Home Premium from 32-bit Vista Home Basic.
Fuck all this mounting ISOs and DVD-roms and back up boot drives and shit.
Ain't even worth it to me.

i purchased an upgrade as well, caught that amazon sale. i can fuck with cracked apps, but im not taking any chances with an OS.

I'm just saying...seem like the more y'all explain it the more complicated and risky it gets for neos like me.
I want ultimate but I'll settle for a safe home premium.
Mounting and ripping ain't my thing. Plus, I dowloaded all them 18 parts before extracting and shut down. Log on and all 18 of them shits is GONE.
Fuck this.![]()
OK I have Acronis...what do I do now?
do a back up of your entire system. thats one of the options. store it on an external hd. when you first go to do this, it will ask if you want to make a bootable cd. do that.
