Bumping the post up with a small tip for the portable applications "project"...

The vid I posted had a part where it mentioned that any program can be portable that does not have to have files installed to the system folder...Therefore most programs should work while not on the main hard drive, like Boilsoft WMV Joiner, GOM Player/Media Player Classic, Firefox, etc...

You can try to copy some of these programs that are in the Program Files folder (that have the executable file) to your external/portable drive and try to run it on another PC.

If you have the processing power, set the AllSky image to be more precise and a better match between the photographic stars in the AllSky image and the Starry Night stars. For the highest quality AllSky image, you will need a video card with a minimum of 96 MB VRAM.

Version 6 includes an additional 6 GB of the AllSky image in DDS texture format, which enables the AllSky image to load up to 20X faster.

In addition, at wide fields of view, the AllSky image can be rendered via shaders for perfect rendering accuracy and a dramatic speed improvement, but you will need a higher-end OpenGL 2.0 capable graphics card to see this phenomenal improvement. We recommend 128 MB nVidia GeForce 6600 (or higher) or ATI Radeon X800 (or higher).

probably not what you want to hear, but if you dont care about your data just reinstall windows. during the process you can format your drive. this way you start fresh.

if thats not an option use malware bytes which is free. i also use avira anti-vir which is free. you should update both before scanning, obviously its free to update both.
whatever software you decide to install make sure you can update and get the latest definitions before scanning your system

I don't mind starting over, I backed up my imporant documents and rare albums on data disks. I'd rather format since all my stuff got lost when my computer crashed while my computer was doing a system restore.

When I bought my computer from Circuit City a couple years ago, they installed Windows XP for me, but they didn't give me a disc, so all I got is the system restore thing and it helps, but my computer still crashes a lot.

Does anybody have a Windows XP download that works like an ISO?
