A load of VERY AVERAGE pop songs.

Yes, you heard, VERY AVERAGE.

Early days with the Jackson 5 were great, no-one can deny that.

Off The Wall - good stuff.

After that he went downhill hard and no MF here can challenge me on that.

Let's see in 20 years ...........

Thriller - ok pop track, memorable for the video and Vincent Price

Billie Jean - ok pop song, worth a top ten

Human Nature - good song period

Beat It - I could write that shit :smh:

Bad - shit :smh:

The Way You Make Me Feel - shit :smh:

Liberian Girl - 5 out of 10

Man In The Mirror - shit :smh:

Dirty Diana - biggest pile of shit ever :smh::smh:

Butterfiles - average

For those about to pipe up and tell me I'm talking shit put one of his tunes on and analyze the lyrics. I would not have the nerve to come out with such SHIT.

So what have we got? The world crying over a singer who had a few early hits but then had a handful of songs worthy of the top 5 in the last 20 years.

The only reason MJ was so big was Sony put their weight behind him on a global scale. He was marketed harder than anyone else.

It's like calling a Ford the best car on earth - no, just the most popular.

Obviously you're a shock poster...

Tell ya what. Since MJ's music turned to "shit"

Why don't you make something better instead of trying to clown a global & world icon;)

Get that pen & pad out muthafucka & get to writing some ill shit.

With all the money he spent into neverland trying to entice kids to come to his house,so that they can play house.
He could have put even a small fraction into the community.\
Fuck that nigga.

Lot of bullshit in this thread...you first.

Point by fake ass point..

What the hell is a worthy song? You cant compare a damn car to a musician.. Cars are different prices. Some people buy Fords because they cant afford a Mercedes. You dont buy a Michael Jackson record because you cant afford a Marvin gay album..

Far as oh its "Only because Sony put their weight behind him....."...Do you know how this business works? I work in marketing for Universal heres some insight....leading into Off the Wall, Michael was considered a washed up child star in the industry going into what was thought to be his last hurrah.....The large success of Off the Wall propelled him into superstardom... Sony gave him the same initial push they give an artist...his success warranted more attention..

So what was Sony supposed to do? See a superstar and NOT push it? that doesnt make sense. Thats like Microsoft seeing HALO was a smash and not making Halo 2, that doesnt make sense, thats bad business sense.

Music isnt cars or anything else..ALL music cost the same. You cant say "Oh its because white people bought it, or black people"...His demographic was literally everybody...

Then you said "a few hits".... What is your definition of a hit? Cause in this industry the definition of a hit is ANY song that is highly popular and I"ll be damn if Mike didnt have a bookbag of those...

And you talk about lyrics? Music is not just about lyrics...If that was the case Canibus would be the greatest rapper of all time. Its the whole collaboration....not to mention he put on some of the greatest shows ever. And just to break down your dumb ass Ford point...Michaels shows actually cost more per ticket than anybody elses.... You made this too easy.

Dude, I'm giving Michael his due - he had some ok tunes, but a lot of shite.

MJ was in a unique position as he sung with a huge family who were all talented singers.

However to answer your question:

Stevie Wonder kicks the crap out of MJ as a singer in almost every way - AM I WRONG ????

As we are talking pop here are three:

David Bowie - arguably the most innovative and original artist ever, he has released some brilliant stuff - brilliant, no-one can argue with that. If you don't know then download or buy his greatest hits then come back to me.

Madonna - It's not really my stuff but she's had as many good songs as Jackson, innovative and some of them have been very, very good.

Billy Joel - Superb pop musician, may have been going for a handful of years less than Jackson but very underrated.

A few more black artists.

Donna Summer - some brilliant pop/cross-over. Not sure how long she was going for though.

Whitney Houston - not as enduring as Jackson but a better singer surely.

A couple more for you.

KRS1 and Q-Tip - both have made massive contributions to music but not through their childhood.

Ooops almost forgot Diana Ross - Jackson idolized her so much he tried to look like her

This guy is a fuckin troll. Dont fall for it people. He's baiting you for his own amusement...

Say what you will about MJ the man as an artist there is no question he was one of the all time greats.

The man sold over 750 MILLION albums of what you call average pop songs...yeah I'm sure three generations of people got it all wrong.

Mike's talent was undeniable and the true testament to his ability is his songs and impact he left on music will most likely far outlive all the weirdness that surrounded his latter years.

Fuck that nigga.

He did things on a global level... You dont get in the Guiness Book of World Records for larget tax write off..

He didnt do shit for black people? Man please I wish yall coulda came to some of these engagements...and heard some of the info I have.... Man damn near everything thats in mainstream musical entertainment for blacks is because of Mike. Niggas couldnt get on MTV before Mike..

Mike had his own sneaker and video game ..... Think of those oppourtunities. Not to mention Mike was a giant in the BUSINESS side of the game as well.. Mike was the first black superstar that OWNED his own music...Shit he owns other peoples music too, not just the Beatles...He owns Eminems shit too...

Thats niggas problems because he aint handing out cash money they aint doing anything.

You can't look at MJ's music in 2009 and get the same effect as you got when you heard it in the 80's or early 90's. Michael Jackson was the greatest musician of our time. BUT in his later years he was just WIERD. I hadn't listen to more than 1 of his songs a month in the past few years.

Ok dude you work in the music industry, I don't but here is my point:

Forget the car thing, Jackson was the best marketed musician, nowhere near the best musician.

If you put a load of $$$ behind an artist and get every radio station and music channel playing his music then dumb-ass sheeps will buy it, no matter how shit it is. Damn you're in the music biz, how many fabricated bands with little talent have there been?

For the last 25 years I have thought MJ's lyrics were wack and not worthy of a listen - apart from the few tracks I mentioned.

I don't blame Sony for pushing MJ, they are out to make a buck. I can't believe how many MF's bought into the hype though.

I didn't say he had a "few hits", I said he had a "few early hits". If you read the op properly I gave MJ his due for the early stuff. After that it was almost all downhill though.

Yes music is not all about lyrics but do you really want me to post the lyrics to "Bad" up here? That is shit. Are you telling me you get in the car and play that?
