So here is the problem.......


My contract is up and the next billing period is in July. Before the contract expired I was due for the 160$ credit to a new phone.

What the cancellation rep basically told me is that she would give me the rate for $199 Palm Pre after rebate. No deals on the plan, no deals on the touchstone, no discount on the phone.

I told her I was thinking of going with the iPhone (no im not) and that it was $99 and she said "That must be for a refurbished iphone b/c the pre is the SAME PRICE as the iPhone" :smh:

So she gets real gully with me and calculates the money I would be saving if I stayed with sprint plans and not the AT&T plans. I was pissed




Usually you get some kind of a hook up for renewing your contract with sprint. Ive been with them for about 6 years.


Anyone have any advice on what to say/do to get some sort of a discount out of these bastards? I want that Palm Pre

sprint can't afford to do deals...why do you think they won't let people get the sera plan on the pre? plus sprint can justify that they are cheaper on the rate plan compared to at&t and verizon.

what you should have said was your getting t-mobile or alltel. they can't beat their rate plans.
 
Idk..my contract renewed this month, they called me to renew with a $70 credit and also the $199 palm pre deal. Been with them for 8 yrs and i got the everything plan already so..

Hook up for renewing your contract? Every time my contract is about up they call me and offer me $140.00 credit to renew both of my lines. For you it would be $70.00. Thats good enough I say. Your just trying to get that new phone cheap and there are not deals on plans. Nigga you greedy and sprint is in the right on this one.
 
Run the same game on a diffrent rep....if that don't work, hang up...try the same game on a diffrent rep....
 
My advice: Never talk discounts or perks to a customer service rep! They are the low man on the pole and have no jurisdiction to negotiate. Ask to speak with a manager/supervisor and let that person do a do or die talk with you! They don't want to chance the loss of a customer and will be more than willing (within reason) to deal to keep you! If not!!!! Then only you know what you have to do.

Tell them that you're going to prepaid service and you want to port their number.

They can't compete (plan wise) with $50 dollars unlimited.

Don't say cancel, I'm taking yall number with me to your competitor.
 
Look at at&t's data plans. Nothing beats the $99 everything.
What was the deciding factor for me was last time I checked, at&t wont insure smartphones.:smh: Sprint will.

cell phone companies normally don't give you a deal on the phone like a new customer.....you are suppose to pay more than a new customer. if they giving you the same price as a new customer....take it and run. but me myself i hate sprint and their every existence. t-mobile is the way to be plan wise, but sprint, verizon, and at&t are kicking ass by having the hot phones that every1 want.......i.e. the palm pre

basically i needed a new phone so it came down to the pre or the iphone and if i stayed with sprint my bill was going to increase about 30 bucks so i ordered an iphone.

i know when my company used to sell them 1 complaint stood out the most was sprint fucking customers on their bills.

"Sprint Nextel has defrauded its customers and violated a court order, blatantly disregarding the laws of the state of Texas," Abbott said, calling the fee false, misleading and deceptive. "Texans will not tolerate Sprint Nextel's unlawful business practices."

A Sprint spokesman has defended the fee and said last week that the company has no intention of ending the practice.

"At this time, we can't discuss this matter because it's the subject of pending litigation," company spokesman John Taylor said. "Sprint Nextel strives to serve its customers in a fair and transparent manner."

The company is charging cell phone customers 1 percent, but will owe a 0.7 percent tax on their gross receipts under the state's new business tax, often called the margins tax. Companies are prohibited by law from collecting more from their customers than the amount of tax the company will pay.

Works every time. Just keep calling back, but not too much on the same day because they always keep notes in the system. You don't want to get FIRED like all those other customers did last year.

Thats shat I do,"if at first you dont succeed, try try again". It usually takes me 3 attemps to get the deal I want. It might not work for that Palm Pre plan.
 
the problem is that too many of you don';t know how to work and game the system. I get everything I want from Sprint because I know how to negotiate. The idea isn't to ask for the fucking world. That just comes off as obvious and they will say no. You have to work into it.

First only negotiate when you are off contract. That way is KNOWN that you can leave and go elsewhere.

Second...be nice and courteous when you negotiate. Remember these people have a civil servant mentality. If you nice to them they'll be nice to you.

Third...make yourself a valuable customer. This part is easy. Word of mouth is the strongest form of advertising. I know it because advertising is what I do for a living. To Sprint I'm considered an advocate for their service because of a few things I've done. When I talk to a service rep and they are good to me I call back Sprint and tell them that. I call or email and say that the person I was just talking to was really good and if there is any way they can look up the person's name and let their boss know. See...that is noted when the customer rep pulls up my info on the screen. Now if you know they person you're dealing with is they type to tell your boss you do good work how much more motivated would you be? Additionally, a person will to tell a CS rep about a good job is also willing to tell OTHERS about how good Sprint is. That word of mouth is VALUABLE to them.

Finally...don't ask for the fucking world!! When I ask for stuff I say that I know I'll have to sign up for 2 yrs and that I'm ok with that. It shows that I'm not asking for the world.

Now some in here will think I'm bullshitting but it works. Last time I spoke to Sprint they gave me unlimited data and text messaging for $5. Not $5 each...FIVE BUCKS FOR BOTH.

Exactly. Was with Sprint for about 9 years, give or take. I did not renew my contract, and now I'm with T-mobile.

You caught a bad rep, or you waited too long. I called Sprint about two months ago once my contract was up and told them the exact same story you tried to run. "I'm thinking of getting an Iphone what can you do to keep me?" In one conversation I got an additional $100 on top of the $150 discount and $100 rebate so the total cost for my Pre that I picked up yesterday was $99. After I recycle my treo for $35 (if you have old sprint phones go to their website and see if they'll buy it from you).

My total cost will be about $64 for the newest phone on the market. :dance: :dance: :dance:
 
I was a Sprint customer for many years, actually I still am for their wireless broadband. I let my contract expire last year and they would call every month or so, offering me something to renew. I don't remember all the details but it was never a phone, just better terms. The $150.00 discount on a new phone is always on the table once the contract expires. While I was in the AT&T store trying to switch my number, I had to call them for my contract number and the kept switching me to other people, I guess they were stalling till they could come up with something. Anyway the AT&T guy let me use his computer so I got the number from their site then hung up.

Maybe you should let the contract expire, then call asking for your contract number so you can transfer your number to your new iPhone. Wait and see what happens.
