Fuck what ya heard, it's never too late for a black man to go to college. FUCk all the people that say that you have to get your degree in 4 years or you're a loser. FUCK all the bitches that say there's something wrong about getting a degree when you're in your 20s or 30s already. Let's start with me: took me 7 years to get my degree. Was too busy working through college and chasing tail to get out in 4. How about yall?
 
I wanted to go to Morehouse coming out of high school but couldn't afford it.

Went to a state school & have less than 1 full year left for my engineering degree.

Now I live in Atlanta and could potentially pay for myself to go to Morehouse out of pocket.

That is the goal for the next 3 years.
 
AGREED! Some people don't see the big picture. Even if you 40 and take 4 years out your life you can have a productive career. I know some 60 plus nurses that did it and they making major money compared to just listening to the haters that told them to not go back to school.
 
When I Was doing my undergad, I met a few Black men in their 50's, 60's, finishin up their degree's, and a very good friend of mine got his undergrad degree at 74.that man was a WWII vet, and had plenty of stories to tell about everything there was about growing up Black in america. role model for real.

got my degree 9 years after high school... fucked around for 5 years and went back hard starting at 23 years old... started at a community college... transferred to a university after 2 years... grinded that shit out while working a full time job with a young one...

you're ready when you're ready.
 
My homeboy in Florida just finished up last week and he's about 35 and he motivated me to go back and finish up because I felt like I would of been out of place with those younger kids but he told me to stop thinking of excuses and get your education so I'm going back now.

Its' never to late. My boy from the A is getting his undergrad he is 25. I took a summer school class a few summers back. I was in class with a 60 year old brotha. Its' never to late.
 
I'm bout to start my summer classes in 2 weeks.
I went back last summer and after these four classes i'll have 32 credits
and then 2 more semesters till I transfer.
THA TIME FLIES LIKE SHIT.
I can't believe that i'm gonna be going into my sophomore year in August.
I'm gonna be 28 in July btw.
But I done seen older cats at my school.
Theirs one brother there grinding out a dual major and hes in his 40s.
Only way I can say don't go to college is if you already have a plan in place and everything is working out for you financially.
 
I honestly think the later, the better. You have more of an idea of what you actually want in a career. Most older students seem to have an actual plan when they get their degree. Never seen an older student get a bullshit degree

Most people don't know after highschool. They might have an idea of what they actually wanted to do at the time, but realize the career wasn't what they thought it would be or the curriculum didn't suit their strengths as a student.

I'm 28 and don't have a single college credit to my name. I'm a landlord, and only have to work 3 or 4 times a month. The passive income is great, but my mother's putting a guilt trip on me for being so unproductive during the day.

I'm gonna ease into it by taking some classes this summer, then take a full load this fall.

Not only that, when you are older, you learn not to take shit for granted and actually put more focus into your studies. I just shake my heads at some of kids right out of high school that try and clown around in classes.

I went back when I was 22, I got a 3.72 gpa.. It's a bit rough working full time and go to school full time, but it's all good.
