Well i have a 500 gig western digital in my ps3, and I have this. I will probably travel with one or the other. Both do what I want.

Here's my issue...I have some files which the PS3 wont play, for example I have a Blu-Ray rip of Purple Rain that is marked as an .MP4. When I try to stream it to the PS3 it doesn't work, when I try to copy it, it wont copy....I want something that is gonna work 100% of the time.

Why not just connect your computer to your TV with a DVI to HDMI cable? Monoprice.com sells them shits on the cheap. And all audio is in 2 channnel format, even 5.1 or 7.1 until it's decoded by your home theater. And did you know your computer is capable of resolution above 1080p?

Man, I been watching HD movies for years that way. Did cop a passport though. Those flashdrives won't format in NTFS and as you know, FAT32 won't allow you to drag n drop over 4G; way smaller than even 720p movies.

I just bought a HDMI to DVI cord the other day from Amazon and that shit was $2. problem is my computer only has connectors for VGA.

this shit is official. it was easy as hell to set up. now im just trying to use it with my harmony 880. i got all the controls working, except the enter (ok) function.

yea I got that same harmony and dont use it for 25% of the shit it can do but imm a cop the wifi version of this thing as soon as I find it lol

fuck western digital!!

i've had two passports break on me in the span of 3 months. . . all that good porn and music, just gone!

WTF!?

blu rays are usually mkv format. and wd hd plays this format with no problems.

If you can afford to spend $80 more, get the popcorn hour mediatank
instead.
It does everything WD HD does, but you can also download and play
bittorrents, and streaming videos from the net like youtube, hulu,
netflix etc.

yes they will. I have a wd 250gb passport. I had to format it to ntfs before i could drop a blu ray (about 7gb) on it. Now i have a 1tb that came pre-formatted with a ntfs plus an esata drive.

I dont want to pay extra 80 bucks for that. I can easily download vids and torrents on my computer and put them on the WD drive(when it finally arrives. *sob*)

The WD hits the right price point and they seem to be constantly adding features to the joint.

yes they do , maybe thats a bug

but know when i turn on the device i dont have to wait until the passport drive quakes up or finishes scanning the drive

mines takes about 2 minutes to discovery my 1tb (only have about 230gbs of movies on it), and then another 30 seconds to scan the drive. I may go back to the previous version. But i like the thumbnail feature. After reading some posts on avs, the company is working hard to get rid of all the bugs. Thats why this new version wasnt posted on their site. It was a beta for avs members. They are making progress reproducing the bugs and fixing it.

This is fire...I might have to cop one for my bedroom upstairs.

I'm good in the living room since I have a 500GB WD external hard drive connected through the xbox 360. All I do is get mad movies from torrent sites and I'm good. No BlockBuster, no NetFlix needed (FUCK THEM OVERPRICED COMPANIES!!!). Shit, the last movie I bought (just because) was The Dark Night, otherwise I download EVERYTHING!!!

I'll definitely get this for the bedroom upstairs though.

I know someone mentioned using a PC, and that will be my next move: basically build a media PC for the living room

you got your 360 to play avi? i couldnt do that for anything. i tried everything too.

Also, regarding thumbnails, if you see they arent showing up, but you have them in the folder with the movie, resize them to about 180 x 180. Reset your wd player and the thumbnails will appear.

^^^cool. I dont need to record tv though, nothing on that really catched my attention. I only watch sports, heroes, weeds and dexter. thats it. But i did just get a 1tb Cavalry that i can hook up to my cable box and use as additional space for a dvr. I havent tried it out yet though.

Now imagine this u can take anything off your dvr with you where ever u go, i take all my programming back in forth to work and any tv in the house that dont have cable on it. and back up my shows in full HD you ever tried to watch the Wire in HD on demand you cant.
