You know you a beast when the NCAA bans dunking because you to dominant. The top 5 is Kareem, Wilt, The Big O, LeBron & Magic. Bird was 20th & Jordan was 18th.

1. Lew Alcindor (Power Memorial, Manhattan, N.Y.)
When he played at the famed all-male Catholic school on the West Side in the mid-1960s, Alcindor was the most sought after player in high school history. He also changed the high school game forever, vaulting it into the national spotlight by playing in back-to-back years (1964 and 1965) against famed DeMatha (Hyattsville, Md.). The 7-2 Alcindor scored 38 points in the first meeting as Power won, but a year later, in front of 12,500 fans, DeMatha won 46-43, halting Power's 71-game win streak. While Alcindor was at Power, the school won three city titles and went 96-6 in three seasons, and he totaled 2,067 points. He later converted to Islam, becoming Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. His résumé is staggering: three NCAA national championships and two national player of the year awards at UCLA, six NBA championships, six NBA MVP awards, election to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and six NBA records, including for most points (38,387 in 20 years).

one of the rawest HS players ive ever seen was Shea Cotton, that dude was a fucken beast

damn shame his career never panned out

Jermaine O'neal should be up here. So should Stephon Marbury. Dunbar in Baltimore had like 4 All Americans on the same squad at one point and none of them made it.:smh:

Oh yea, him too and I'm done...

I remember this when i was a little kid back in the 80's
shyt was so said :smh::smh::smh:
it was like the real life cooley high
i heard his game was incredible

they got #1 HS player right in my opinion
Kareem / lew alcindor was a beast

He beat my alma mater in the state title game at the Coli. We took it to overtime but lost. Shea had like 30 in the game. A year laterI saw him in some shitty knockoff McDonald's all star game. His defense was always his liability. Score 30 but give up 25 on d.

It's not an accurate assesment.....

It's easier to be great out of highschool. The talent is all within a similar range. What they should have done is list the last 50 years of high school player of the years.... Some people with less than stellar college careers and pro careers may have peaked early.

------
Moses Malone 6..... bump him up - Averaged a triple double. And went straight to the league.

LeBron on the cover of SI, games on ESPN were highest rated. Some say he could have turned pro after his junior year (natnl player of year JUNIOR year).

MJ.... wasn't a nationally heralded highschool player. No disrespect to MJ.

I remember seeing Chris Clack play in State Tournament in TX 1995. Dude was a monster. We went to state that year in 2A - lost in the semifinals.... He was in 4A. It was like watching a man amongst boys.

I also remember Ivan Wagner. Dude was monster guard. He played ball and also high jumped in track. National Champ in NCAA highjump. Dude was 6'1" and took off from free throw in a HS game. Played at NC State and transfered to UT.

The crazy thing.... Jeff Foster of the Pacers went to school with me. He led the city in FG% and had good rebound numbers. Not an exceptional player but a good solid player. I've seen more sensational players in my day. Jeff's been in the league for 10 years.

Man, Ben Wilson was the single best high-school player I ever heard about, him or Garnett. Him and Nick Anderson at Simeon were fuckin beasts. Also, Glenn "Big Dog" Robinson was a bad dude. I saw him play at E.C. Central against Simeon(im some type of tournament, a few years after Anderson and Wilson), and he looked like a grown man out there.

And Ronnie Fields man, that dude fucked his shit up, but was one of the greatest high-school guards ever. I remember when he got in that car accident that fucked his shit up, Michael Jordan was all like, "What the fuck was he doin?" and shit. It's a big deal if the most famous athlete in the world knows your name, and cares about your situation.

He was in Venezuela last time I heard about him.

And don't forget Jerome Harmon outta G.I. McDonalds All-American. Didn't make it.

Strictly my opinion, Alot of these are subject to argument, but #1 isn't. And co sign on Beji Wilson. I remember the news story. I kinda pissed me off.

dajuan wagner

and kenny anderson would bust all their asses

in highschool that is

and my dude jr smith was a beats in highschool

I remember reading an interview with a recruiter that had attended a game where Bron was playing. He said that by halftime, he and the other recruiters had drawn a line through his name. They knew that he would not be going to college. It was painfully obvious that he was a man amongst boys.

And don't forget Jerome Harmon outta G.I. McDonalds All-American. Didn't make it.

Man, Jerome Harmon was a BEAST; I remember watching him as a kid, he took Lew Wallace to the '86 semistate, then went down to Louisville and had a nice college career.

I think he might have gotten drafted and floated around the L on some 10-day contracts for a few years.

Bron had to be top 5 on the list, they had the cat high school games on espn primetime :lol::lol: nigga was handling the rock in high school dishing like magic

Duwan:confused Wagner, Score a hundred in a game, whatever happen to him?:confused::confused:

Yeah 100 in high school is stupid. Wagner plays over in europe now, he had some kinda disease that fucked up his colon and dude had to have his colon removed.

Dwayne "Pearl" Washington dusted pros off while still in high school. That okie doke shit didn't work to well in the NBA though.

Damn this list is imcomplete. No Earl Jones. No Connie Hawkins. These were high school legends. Not all high school legends went to the NBA.

All 3 of them cats were legends in their time, for real. Plenty of neighbourhood / local news / Sports Illustrated / Slam magazine coverage for all.

If only Ronnie hadn't gotten hurt.

Where the hell did Shea disappear to?

What happened to Felipe? He put in some time with Vancouver and Minnesota. But ... any other teams?

There was an article in Sports Illustrated about a kid maybe in 2003 or 2004 and he was a younger player whose team may have been undefeated in aau up to some point or another i cant recall his name any body see this article? if so what was his name and what is he doing now?

what about Lloyd Daniels supposedly his game was on par with anybody when he was high school age...just too wild though.

Amen!!

I'll take your Kareem and raise you an Earl Manigault (the true GOAT), heroin's a helluva drug though.....:hmm:

They say Lebron could have started in the NBA and been a allstar his jr. year in high school.;);)
