do you need an OEM (legit) copy or something that is pre-cracked??

also, the operating system wont determine if or if not your computer can run 4 gigs of ram. it all depends on your motherboard and its bios. its bios may be able to be updated (flashed) for you to run 4 gigs.
 
Can Xp professional run 4 gigs of ram? My motherboard can hold it. but when I will try your suggestion of updating the bios first.. Some techs at Tiger Direct / Compusa said only xp 64 bit supported 4 gigs..

according to microsoft, all versions of XP can have a max of 4 gigs. maybe you should upgrade to SP3 and see what that does. or just read the link i posted above and see if that fixes it.

I done downloaded a bunch of designer OS's and some are cool and some aint, I just want to get the OEM joints so when something goes wrong I'm not stuck.
