Nice

I'm itching to buy a 55 gal. I'll probably pick it up this weekend.

Good tips Zero!!!

Some I was aware of and some not, like leaving the scum under the rocks intact. What if you have type of under water filtering system?

I may buy one here coming up. My blue gill is chasing the koi around the little tank...

that koi is gonna be dead soon from the stress from the blue gill

nope less is more??

right now the heater is set to 82 degrees and the thermometer is reading 79 degrees

:dunno:
once a day if fine for food unless u have big who who will eat the lil ones! Also the heat is up too high is will cause ya water to go bad if it stays that high it also increases the chances of ick and velvet cause the parasite grow more in warmer waters.

yea thats a powerhead but its placed to low need to have it closer to the surface to help the oxygenation of the water down that low it just keeping the mid level fish from swimming at the front of ya tank. They will still play in the current but it really needs to be higher

How high should I put it?

up by the water line so that between that and the filters u have a turbulent top that also helps to distribute the food tho the lil guys who really dont want to go up that high cause they get picked on

true about the kits but the range up to 200 bucks and they are the basic 55 rectangle glass with no stand. People on clist have the bow front stands included light for a few bucks more when u ad it up te list not a bad place unless u get that jackass who wants everything he put into the tank back

Ok fam i need ya'lls help. I ran into this Navy guy who's moving outta tha country and is selling his 55 gallon saltwater tank everything included for 200. it comes with the tank.stand, power heads heaters, cascade filter, orbit lighting, and protein skimmer. Is it missing anything that i would need to get started? Ima be new to the saltwater game but i always wanted a setup but just been bullshiting but i ran across this deal and i dont think i can pass it up. Any info or advice id appreciate it peace

With that fish only tank you could get a variety of fish just remember not to go to get into the larger fish. If you want a lion get a dwarf fuzzy lion that will go well in that tank or some of the smaller angels. Since your new to salt tanks i wouldnt go for butterfly fish or a few of the more sensitive fish that are hard to care for like a mandarin. But keep the tank a fish only to save yourself some maintenance and alot of work.

We get some pretty good deals here in vegas as well. Got a guy selling a 180 with sump and stand for 250.00. I got my 135g with stand, canopy, lights, skimmer, sump, refugium, plumbing and pumps for 500.00.
