How Many Of Fam On Here Have Diabetes

I take the pills and workout when I can. My shit never really was super high, now with the meds I stay around or below 100.

my dad has it. but he lives his life as normal. no shots, no medicine, no anything.

he takes his usual vitamins, and eats his usual vegy meals, and whenever he feels tired he goes to sleep...

my dad doesn't really trust medicine like that...he seems to be alright

thirsty all the time, weight loss, peeing alot, extreme hunger, always tired, blurry vision, thers a few more i forgot about tho

I used to have all of those symptoms mentioned above, my doctor also said that most diabetics have erectile dysfunction because of the blood thinning thats involved with it, so he gave me some viagra to help compensate if i had the problem. And I had to take 4 shots a day and that shit wasnt fun at all. 1 in the morning or evening and 1 shot for every meal in the day. PLUS that shit had me sleepy and running to the toilet every 20min:smh:

i found out right after new years day. right before christmas i went to a christmas party, and got really drunk drinking hennessey. for the next few days i felt really bad, real tired and light headed. then on new years eve i had a few drinks and started feeling bad. my wife was already a diabetic, and i did a sugar test, and it read 304. went to the dr and he gave me the bad news. i take metformin for it and a cinnamon supplement. i changed my diet, stopped drinkning brown liqour, cut back on beer and at my last checkup my a1c went from 9.9 to 7.6. lately i've fallen off, but i getting back track.

Cut all liquer and the yeast thats in beer will send you into melentus stage.

All liquer turns into suger inside your body and if it gets to high it will send you into a coma.

I've had it for 5 years, I've been keeping it under control through diet and lately exercise. It's a real creepy disease eating right is tough while not employed, but I do manage.

HEY COCO, THE SHAKING AND NERVOUS PART YOU WAS MENTIONING IS JUST THE EXACT THING MY MOTHER DESCRIBE, AND THE ALWAYS THIRSTY

I was just reading your other post and the episode with your mom and the food taking too long describes me to a tee. I've set a reminder on my phone to call the doctor on Monday for an appointment.

^^No probs.

Definitely go see a Dr to get yourself checked out.

Diabetes isd no joke but people can still lead normal, fulfilled lives as long as they change their eating habits, excercise more and just generally take care of themselves.

I guess this is what kind of gets me, because I exercise and for the most part I do eat healthy, and I'm really up on making sure I take care of me. So I'm wondering if it's genetic is there really no way around it?

What are some good ways to loss about 15 pounds and still have all the carbs and shit your body need.

Your daily diet should be 55-70% Carbs, 15-210% Protein, and about 20-30% Fat. Depending on your body weight and your workout regimen, you need to find out how much energy (calories) you should consume, which can range from 2500-4000 calories depending on your weight and your workout. The key concept to loosing weight is to burn more energy than you consume.

I Been Dealing With This Shit For About Four Months.
Type 2 And This Shit Is Crazy Damn.

Type 1, 38 years.

Type 2 is a lot easier to deal with. Some of the remedies mentioned here have been known to work with Type 2s. However, if you find they do not work for you...

Follow a good ADA (American Diabetes Association) diet, avoiding fatty foods and simple sugars. Yes, you can eat bread and other starches. You just have to calculate and limit them. A good balance of carbs, protein and veggies is the way to go. An ADA diet will map it out for you. Along with the diet part comes regular exercise. Stay active. Take the stairs. You don't like running...speed walk. Swim, Cycling, Hooping....marathon fuck sessions...(shut up) they burn calories! After doing everything you can to prevent the progression of this illness...IF...IF...you still need meds...Don't Be Stupid.

Discipline is the key factor to all of this.

What is the vegetable that grows in Korea?

Its called a Bitter Mellon. Most older traditional Asians eat this once a week in a stir fry.

You will actually feel the insulin after you eat it. Don't eat the seeds. Some eat it raw.

You can find it at most Asian world food markets. Sometimes Shoppers or in Atl Ponce de Leon.

Where ever you live, simply ask an Asian person where to find it.

Coa Coa. The Sugar is coming from the things that you are eating. From the Bread to the soda, it is refined and in small particles and simply in your blood stream.

The best thing to do, The urination can be a problem because the victim is pissing the vitamins right out of his or her body. Get a good 2 a day vitamin, some alpha lopic acid from the vitamin store. The Acid helps take the sugar and helps it come out through the urine.

Find where people ride bikes walk and jog and make it a regular part of your life. Some of the sugar is best passed through sweat. 2 or three miles a day will eliminate your symptoms within a week in most cases.

It is the fast food and sodas and bread is why so many are having symptoms of type 2.

Be carefull with Viagra, cialis and all those over the counter Boner concoctions have been rumored to have the onset of diabetes.

Make sure when you use these formulas to use them with food and plenty of water.

Thanks, and I do walk daily and jog daily, well more walking then joggin, even as hot as it is. I will look for the vitamin, because the last thing I want to do is start popping pills daily. Taking Nexium for acid reflux is more than enough, and I'm trying to find a way to remedy that too.

No need for me to lie but Ive had it my whole life, been injections since I was 7yr old.

:smh:Its a bitch to have and to say its not a struggle to overcome is a lie but you can learn to deal with it and maintain it at a safe level.I fuck the dieticians and basically learn as you go and eat in small portions or whatever works for you.

You shouldn't have to take anything to control your acid levels. You may be overloading on oranges or lemons or some other aciddic food or drink.

If you find the cause in your diet, you'll find the remedy. The body maintains a 7% acid level and a 7% ph level. When you overload your system with too much water or too much acid, it will send a signal and in your case its reflux.

Might just be a side of the actual pill that you introduce to your system.

Those over-the-counters will kill you.

The only reason I suggest a 2 a day is because most PRE-diabetics eliminate the vitamins through their urine and start having vision problems and become lethargic (tired) simply because they have know vitamins in their system.

God has made Man perfect for earth. Just listen to what your body is trying to communicate and things will fall into place.

I'm a orange-juice, fresh pineapple, any citrus friend or drink fanatic. I have tried other juices and I don't like them, and like you said too much water and I'm not feeling well, and damn here I am thinking I'm half-way healthy.

Yeah i've been dealin with for about 2 years. Started off on insulin for 6 months then prandin for another 6. Now i control it with my diet no more drugs. Got a nutritionist and changed my diet, that was the best thing i did.

thanks for you knowledge and advice. i've been tryin to stick on a balanced diet and work out, but work gets in the way a lot and i have to resort to fast foods more than i like. i try to eat more salads and baked fish and chicken. Along with the metformin i take a cinnamon supplement, a multivitamin, alpha lapoic acid, zocor, and since i had a mild heart attack 2 months ago, i now take a BP pill....it's a lot to keep up with. but i'm gonna beat this. Diabetes has claimed too many of my family members.

ok I'm thirsty all the time, but let my parents tell it, that's always been me, I pee alot because I drink a lot of fluids, I'm tired because I work 60 hours a week, so I can justify most of these. I'm drinking water, juice, or soda pretty much all the time.

But what scares me is I can get really shaky, nervous like, almost like I'm about to pass out and can drink a glass of orange juice and I'm fine. This has happened to me a couple of times, and the doctor says I'm not diabetic.

And yes it does run in my family. My Grandmother had it and use to take the insulin shot.

:hmm:GET TESTED MAN GET TESTED

I just found out wednesday that i have type two diabetes.Doctor told me that you really have to watch you eat.most people are under the impression that you get it from eating and drinking items high in sugar, but in fact(and this tripped me out)eating a lot of carbohydrates like bread and pasta can
add to it.if you eat a lot of carbs you body turns it into sugar and if you past the point of no return with it your body can't create enough insulin to break the carbs down,as the sugar buillds up it turn in to acids that eat the fat from inside your body(not a good way to lose weight.symptoms are constant urination(no R.kelly shit).dry mouth, dizzyness, blurry vision and cuts or bruises
that take awhile to heal.To all my brothers and sisters on bgol in you have any of these symptoms go see a doctor asap!

Follow a good ADA (American Diabetes Association) diet, avoiding fatty foods and simple sugars. Yes, you can eat bread and other starches.
Yes,I can remember when they would tell you to limit only your sugar intake, than it went to the carbs and starches, than the protien and now its on portion sizes. They tell you to eat a peice of meat the size of a deck of cards, half of ounce of starches and as many vegetables as you want(which is a no no).I was eating a total of 1200 calorie a day because I was following their instructions but after doing that for a few week and my black ass blinked out and woke up in a hospital bed,I took matters into my own hands.

Its trial and error, what works for some might not works for you.

TAKE YOUR MEDICATION...YOU WONT FIND NO REMEDIES,NO POTIONS OR SOME SECRET THAT ONLY A CERTAIN FEW KNOW OF,GOING THIS ROUTE IS THE QUICKES WAY TO END UP SICK OR DEAD,IVE SEEN IT HAPPEN MORE THAN ONCE TO PEOPLE WHO THINK THEYVE FOUND A QUICK FIX

seeing the amount of people that reply to the "fat ass food threads" around thanksgiving...christmas..and all the other hungry ass holidays...i would say a lot.

you are what you eat.
........and majority of the folks with Diabetes got it from what they ate....trust me .

all that shit that the media feeds to you about how Diabetes, heart disease etc. is hereditary in black folks....well brotha thats a lie.

if you wanna know why black folks are always getting these illnesses...go visit their households......or watch them when they eat out...or monitor their everyday lifestyles...then youll find the true answer.

You can eliminate the cinnamon pill and sprinkle real cinnomon on your morning meal.

I had that no time problem until my body was gonna make its own rest time for me. Its hard for type A business people to eat right, but either you have to make time or find a restuarant that you trust, to cook the things properly.

Introducing Garlic (cloves) in your food will greatly reduce cholesterol and a good bottle of red wine ( I like Sauginons) in the $8 range is a great source of antioxidents. I do a glass once a week or cook with it.

But my man if your gonna beat it, your gonna have to train your body against fast foods.

Cooking with garlic and thyme and basil and learning to get your vitamins out of the plants will improve your food taste and control syptoms.

i'm gonna beat this. Diabetes has claimed too many of my family members.

There are two types of diabetics, those who don't change and start dieing slowly and those who reduce the symptoms and have a great energetic life.

I think your gonna make it.

that weight loss one is not always correct.
sometimes it can be weight gain.
i know a lot of family that gained weight very fast...then went to the doc and found out they had the big D.

as for me.

im not thirsty much....but i do get thirsty when i dehydrate....mainly during the summer when i dont drink enough water.

...the only time i lose weight is because of stress or because i eat veryyyyyy light.

pee a lot...yes.
but i guess that will happen when u drink a gallon of water a day.

tired....yes...but only when i get no more than 2 hours of sleep a day :hmm:

blurry vision.......but thats mainly because i sit no more than 3 feet away from my big bright ass monitor...for multiple hours...lol

with that said...the only sure way to really know is to go get checked out.

You really going to have to limit your juice intake to rare or occassional. Those sugar waters that we call juice will spike your sugar levels off the charts.

Oranges and juice are big enemies.

Apple cider every now and then and I make my own Ice tea for sweet drinks. Coconut water. Ginger waters will help.
Aloe water and fresh aloe will help.

Your just going have to form better snacking habits.

Also, just recently diagnosed with type-2 diabetes after going in for a routine physical. The dr told me my blood glucose level was 250, when the safe/normal level is less than 100. Been taking the Metformin and it is keeping my glucose within the safe range. But it sucks to have to prick my fingers everyday to test my blood.

Best advice I can give is to cut back on the pastas, white bread, potatoes, soda, any juice with high fructose corn syrup. Try to exercise regularly and drink plenty of water.

No. You can sleep 12 hours wake up and barely keep your eyes open.

No. 2 summers ago I couldn't read the numbers on my cell. Just blurred images.

True. But you will Know for a certainty from the symptoms. It don't sound like you have experienced them to me. And of course the big game in town among healthcare providers is High Blood, Diabetes, Cancer all in which are BIG in the Black community. They running to the bank because we will not educate ourselves more efficiently.

You know this is going to take work, because I'm such a picky eater and drinker. I don't drink tea, don't like coconut, and ginger waters, can I subsitute this for GingerAle? yeah I've heard about the Apple Cider (this is do-able)

What juices are on the market that may be a start until I can try others, or what am I looking for on the label that I want to stay away from?
