For med school its' either Meharry, Johns Hopkins or back home at MICHIGAN. I think its' gonna end up being Johns Hopkins fellow Detroit native Ben Carson was born here. I admired him since childhood. I've also got to meet and talk with him about Med School.

I attended what was then, West Georgia College or what we affectionately called WGC. While I was there, attendance grew into the State University of West Georgia and finally the University of West Georgia. It has been considered one of the top party schools in the nation that did not have Division 1 status. People came from the AU in Atlanta to party with us.:D

In the present day, I would not recommend my college. In fact, I would not recommend college, concerning your career advancement, at all.:smh: IMHO, college is for one thing, raising your social intelligence. That is learning to interact with people from various ethnicities, countries, regions and backgrounds to gain an understanding of everyone's perspective

As far as academics are concerned, everything I know I learned through my own intestinal fortitude outside of the classroom. Do not get me wrong, the classroom laid the foundation for me to want to know more but my true life lessons happened on campus, in the city of Atlanta and on the internet.

Let me give you a real life example. I have a very good friend that is an attorney at the top law firm here in Atlanta. We kicked it back in '04. I had just been laid of from my job and I was just asking her what was really the deal on GPA, choice of school and ability to get a "good paying" job. I was asking because I was just seeing this disparity in the workplace irregardless of how advanced your degree was.

She broke it down without sparing any feelings. She was like look, big money in corporate america is all about pedigree. I don't care what your grades look like, how your social activities look on your resume or how many references you get from your advisor. At the end of the day if you want to get real money in corporate america, you better go ivy league or D1 states schools that have ivy league status or go entrepreneur.

It worked. She went to Georgetown for undergrad and the University of Chicago for her law degree. Came right out two years ago making 125,000 at the age of 26. She invited me to a corporate event a couple of weeks ago. I met all the people in her firm. Not only was I the only person there that went to a Division 2 school.:( Everybody that worked there was Ivy League.

I was a bit skeptical but check this out. I have another friend I used to kick it with back in the day. Now, we all attended the same school system from junior high through high school. She attended Stillman for her undergrad, Xavier for her law degree and currently works at Geico. True story. I would say they are of equal intelligence, book wise. Real life example, fam.

Now, I don't type this Colin Powell alert to discourage you. Keep what college is for in perspective. America pushes the odd's maker's stories like the brother from the hood or the white guy from a factory town because they know 9 times out of 10, all things being equal, that sh!t is just what they say...the american "dream.":smh:

My advice. Live on the internet. There is more on the internet than in any college. Look to create your own wealth. Do not depend on corporate america or the government because they do not have the intent of doing for us what they did for our parents. If you do attend, do it for the interaction. Let that human interaction be your focus, especially with women. You will be around more women than at any other time in your life, that is unless, you make the American "dream" a reality.

That's my wooden nickel.

FUCK IVY LEAGUE SCHOOLS

I graduated from St. John's University and I would recommend it. I would recommend any university as long as the person going puts in the effort to receive a quality education. I don't care if you go to Harvard, if you don't put in the effort, you're wasting your time.

BS in Management.

Didnt earn a degree. I attended to get enough accounting courses to be CPA eligible.

I would recommend both schools. My only suggestion would be to get a job through your career resource center. I graduated from UF thinking that I could just go and get a good job because I went to UF.

WRONG

I ended getting an mailroom job at a fortune 500 company. I later worked my way up to a decent job but it took me four years to get a job that I should have had once I graduated. While at UNF I attended every info session and social gathering for all of the firms I wanted to work at. When I finished at UNF I was able to pick and choose between offers.

All you get after your 5 years of college, thats right 5 nigga you wont make it in 4 and thats if you make it off academic probation. All you get is a drug habit, a drinking problem, your first STD, your 1st abortion and most importantly debt. Credit Card and Student Muthafuckn Loan. You got 3 months to find a job nigga Great Lakes want they money, FUCK SCHOOL:smh:

I would say the exact same thing to nine out ten people. M.I.T. is world renown in research and has one of the largest endowments for a university in the United States.

Not just anybody can get into M.I.T. And anyone who just so happens to be somebody doesn't have a much of a chance at getting into M.I.T. either.

I applied at MIT. It is a tough place to get into. They Interview you, have to take the SAT 2 and 3. I was thinking that I might have to take a piss test.

I went to:

College of Engineering. I highly recommend it.

I went to the

It was cool as far as education. I blew off my first 2 years bullshittin around. Finally got my shit together and graduated tho. As far as education and music programs it is a very good school. If you lookin to party then go elsewhere.

Nice campus, it's a pretty good mix of races, a lot of international students too. I'm in the Computer Science program, so math is kicking my ass, but other than that it's all good.

The only down side is theres nothing to do in Troy, or any of the surrounding areas; especially if you don't like clubbing.

CCNY is a good deal and has a great rep but that school reminds me of a prison building. :smh:

most of the buildings are like castles... only the nac building resembles a jail... i was told that the person that designed it, designs prisons all over the country... dunno how true that is...

but 1 last thing about ccny... if you get a jump off that live in the dorm you'll be set for the semester

Miami Dade College - reccommend it for the price and attention given

FIU - reccommend it for th price and the ambition of the school

I went to an Ivy League School and I wouldn't recommend that shit to no one. Only things it's good for is alumni connects.

Damn! I went to Fisk too right after I graduated from high school. Went there for 3 years, only took 1 year seriously. It's a good school if you go there for the right major. Medicine, Law, Psychology are all good there. I was a Computer Science major, WRONG SCHOOL! The computer lab was not up to par (at least when I was there) and got even madder when I went down the street to TSU and saw their facilities! The campus is small but it makes it more personal, I did like that. But I bullshitted a alot up there, and then couldn't afford to go there anymore. I was in-state, off campus and was still paying $5,000 a semester! At times I do wish I had tried harder to stay, but alas...

After that I worked for three years and then I go t back in school and transferred from Fisk to down the street at

At TSU I majored in Mass Comm. with an emphasis in Radio/Television broadcasting and a minor in Business Info Systems. And now that's my Alma Mater.

Went to Rice University in Houston. And even though I am black (160 blacks out of 2500 when I went), I still enjoyed it and would recommend it. We had the University of Houston and Texas Southern near by for extra entertainment. Rice is known as the Ivy League school of the south.

Me too, but instead of the abortion, I had the baby. That's all good though I guess. Everything else fuck it.

you guys got a bad rep , whats goin on down there ?

Academics are shitty and no one seems to care....compared to other schools our resources ain't shit..i haven't learned shit about my major down here(IT)if it wasn't for certs i would be fucked....

the on-campus environment is hood students and locals(but i guess that what happens when you don't have requirements) ...police quick to hand out parking tickets on campus but when somebody gets robbed or shot they take their time....no on-campus activities you can definitely pick up a drug habit down here out of boredom...faculty have the shittiest attitudes.....i can go on for days

going to state was the worst decision i ever made.....:smh:

and if you wanna know why i didn't transfer its because other schools won't accept credits from Alabama State and i'm not about to start all over....

University of Texas-Austin.

Every major is competitive, and with 50+ thousand students, you meet every walk of life possible...I was very prepared in all aspects coming out of undergrad.
