I have a question for the men in this thread that think its no big deal for his wife to keep her last name: Did you grow up in a home with both parents? If so, did your mother really run the house and your dad was a push-over? Be honest.
The reason I ask this is simple. Most of the guys that don't have a problem with her keeping her last name were raised by a single mother or a female dominated households. My mother is the strongest women I've ever met, but she still played her role as the wife and mother. She would talk as crazy as she wanted, but the final word belonged to my father. He didn't control her, it was a mutual respect that both shared for each other. He always took what she said into consideration, but he made the final discussions. They were married until he passed away(for over 27 years). She still respects him to this day.

I was interested to see what the mob would say about this...I tend to agree with them. There are a million points of contention and drama that will pop up during marriage, and the only way to get through some of them is for each party to accept their role and GOD GIVEN responsibility to the relationship. Actually I'm not in that predicament though I have a girlfriend...It came to light to me as I was talkin' to my sister who just recently got married and told me she kept her last name...I was shocked cause my sister is the type to cook and clean for her man with no quams and as I always regarded those "name keeping" women as advocates for emasculating their men it didn't add up. My sister plainly told me "I like my name, that's why I kept it"... Had me thinking, if marriage was in my cards, how would I feel about it.
