Uh, I have been overseas a number of times. I spent 3 months in Australia, have been to parts of Latin America, Canada numerous times (doesn't really count).......so you guessed wrong.
If this country got like Iraq. I'd bounce in a heartbeat.
after thinking about it, I think that if shit really hit the fan, and I am talking about doomsday type shit. I would go to Australia. Melbourne is a beautiful city. I have family there so it shouldn't be that hard to petition for immigration. The thing is, as bad as shit gets here, unless you have a way an IN or a contact in another country, its gonna be hard for cats to pick up and leave. Saying you want to move to Japan, or Germany or even Denmark is easier said then done unless you have the money and resources such as family, job experience etc...
Australia is nice but my friend in Australia says in many ways, they are the little brother to America. They sometimes copy the policies that America has. In fact, in some things (perhaps a few uses of biometrics), they are actually ahead of America. So if things hit the fan, I could easily see Australia adopting some (perhaps all) of the things you hate in America which prompted your move.
