Thanks for attempting to hip me to shit I already know. I find the show fascinating, not because of the oppressive system we still live under, but it paints the picture of what they had to go through much better than anything I've ever seen or read. What part of "know thy enemy" do you guys not get? And, by the way, it is propaganda, but as long as you take a proper gander at it, it won't effect you.
An example, for those who don't have a chip on their shoulder and just hate without discretion, in one part Abigail, Adams' wife, has to inoculate her and her children to avoid dying from the plague. When you see what doctors had to do in those times, it will give you a greater appreciation for modern medicine and also how hard it was to live in those days. Granted, slaves and indians had it even worse. I completely co-sign on that, but it's a great mini-series to augment anyone's knowledge on the founding of the United States. The greatest country in the world, last time I checked. Even with it's huge, immense disparities and problems. The Constitution and Bill of Rights gives us a fighting chance we still use to this day. Imagine how bad the oppression would be if we were under a different rule. Cats complain about the ghetto and how tough they have it, when many living in the ghetto have some form of food, clothing, shelter. Throw in internet, a/c, cable TV, designer clothes and the like and cats still want to act like they don't have it better than 80% of the rest of the world even with all the bullshit racism and second class citizenship we go through.
