Why Do Black People Love Tyler Perry?

Basically. Tyler Perry's work is trash that caters to the lowest common denominator but people eat it up because it's easy to digest.
I wouldn't say it caters to the lowest denominator. I think its for all black women regardless of age, education, or wealth. I have been to two of his plays years ago and the only males there were with their significant other. The tv show has got to go. I would feel better if TBS was making the show crap but he says he is doing it his way.
yeah i was just sayin how all his movies were alike then i saw WDIGM. he shut my mouth.but then he came right back 2 the same ol "black woman in distress rescued by mr. perfect (who just happens 2 b light-skinned)" plot with Meet The Browns.

I must say I have seen all his plays and all the movies (except daddy's little girls) and meet the browns was BAD! editing, writing, and acting was bad.
I support Tyler because he is black and his movies are positive. WDIGM was a high point for him... however Meet the Brows was a disgrace. I wonder what people from the south have to say about The Brows. I don't think he portrayed people from Georgia in a positive light. All the Georgia characters had issues (ie alcoholics, gamblers, bumbling idiots, hoes etc...)
lastly I think Angela Bassit is beautiful... but a little old to play this role, maybe?!
Trash is an understatemnt, but it seems that because his movies are somewhat positive and Christian based that many Black people gravitate towards it than the hood based movies that dominated the 90's.
Also, the writing is horrible. Good writing doesn't have to be preachy and his writing is very simplistic. You would think by the way people love his movies that he is the next Woody Allen, but I wish him all the success.
One main problem that I have is that because of his success, there may be limited opportunities for up and coming directors who don't want to do movies like his and they are forced into some bs. You know how Hollywood goes. They will milk this stuff until it no longer sells.
His shit lacks depth or originality. It's the same bullshit formula over and over. But, complacent niggros who "kain't read" or have low self-esteem feel right at home in the disfunctionality of the shit Perry puts out. A man in drag has no relevance in my life and no place in any book i would read, movie i would see, etc. He's a coon. Rich or not, the niggro is despicable.
Kats fail to realize that if you drop four movies in a year or so, there can't be much weight to them. It's like the Friday movies Ice Cube did. Same shit, same day, different peoplem,but called it "The Friday after this Thurdays Just Before The Friday After Next." My girl loves the tv show, but i can't sit through it. My mind does not allow me to digress that far. I'm from the hood, but that shit is not still in me. I wont go to his plays, see his movies, or watch his shows because they amplify every negative stereotype of black people. "Niggas" need something they can relate too, BLACK people are on a higher level intellectually to absorb such bullshit and consider it art or entertainment. I despise most rap for the same reasons.. "Gucci loafer, iced-out wrist. poppin' Krys', rims on my whip" same bullshit with a sampled beat.
he brings fresh new plays, with different story lines, with a positive message, and u can see that he tries to relate it to alot of people..... madea does get too silly for me sometimes and the fat short bald dude..... get a little over board, but all in all good.......
also you notice this christmas we had two positive black movies, that were PGshocking ...yes

I used to think that all of the Madea crap was overboard until I started taking his plays for what they were. Comedy. Dude is making positive black movies without shooting, nigga this and nigga that and is still having success. I'll give him props for that alone. Cats need to quit being uptight and understand that TP has a brand of comedy that his staple, so all of his movies do follow a similar style. Hell, the same can be said for Quentin Tarantino, but people don't complain about him. And on top of all that, Brown is a damn fool...Gotta love Brown.

Actually, I think dude is being held to a higher standard which is unfair. All of his movies are based off plays which were all comedies. What in the hell did you expect to see? Go to the movie, laugh and enjoy and then burn the fuck out. It's all entertainment. His portray of black men aren't perfect, but at least he's not pushing the usual black man is a gangster bullshit.
