Relax, you know the deal. Why fuss?

Go get some fried fish with coo coo, its Sunday.........

Got-damn man...have I been away from the U.S. that long... milk is almost 6 dollars a gallon..WTF..

man..In detroit, I used to hit the corner store and get the 2 for 4 dollar special

Yesterday I was appalled that a pound bag of beans was $1.19 and a can of soup was $1.69. Not very long ago both these items were more like 69 cents.

It is serious fam very serious.

1. Work on gaining more transferable job skills. It's a hedge against layoffs.

2. Diversify my portfolio to include Euro currency

3. Keep investing in metals (palladium, platinum PAL, SWC etc)

4. Reduce my spending including holding off on large purchases

5. Cook more, eat out less

6. Work on ignoring stupid people on BGOL

How about you???

This is precisely what I wanted to hear. I keep hearing all this depressing shit and no one talks about what to do about it, but thanks to you, I now have a starting point.

Yea man, shit is serious here. The middle class is now the poor, and the poor is now extra poor. Owning a home is no longer a wise investment.. its a liability

My uncle was talking about the high ass gass prices too..dude was like if you have a long as commute...you can burn up a hella percentage of your check just in gas... said Home Depot start cutting hours to 4 hours per day max.. and a few people quit on the spot... some low paid staff was like I would essentially burn up my check in gas just driving to this mofo to work 4 hours...

I knew it was bad... but I didn't know it was that bad back home...

Michigan is getting hit the worst. abandoned homes everywhere...

Shit Diesel fuel here in NYC is a lil over 4 a gallon, my g35 too me 65 bucks to fill that shit up at 3.49 a gallon. I mean what part of the game is that? shit is really serious. right now I'm looking to purchase a hybrid, I'm really lookin into getting a 4 banger in a geo metro hatchback at least that gets close to 40 mpg.

Obama is right, put in a mandate to have vehicles get 40 mpg that shit would offset the high prices.

 I love the Chicken George shit...I agree that bad times may be ahead but the middle class is nowhere near poverty as yet...

not sure where your bitch ass lives, but here in MD, a single person making $40k/year can't afford rent in a decent area... let alone gas/groceries. They would have to shack up with a roomate.

Yeah I heard it's basically impossible to live in NYC if you aren't seriously banking...

Here in NYC a single person making 70-100 k can barely make it :smh:

For people that are single with no kids 35 to 40k is liveable in NYC but if you got a family plus all that other shit you need about 70 to 75k to live respectably.

The outer bridge crossings just went up to $8 bucks for cars and MTA will follow in 2 weeks where toll each way is $5 bucks.

Close enough and I make around the same amount and have been spending more than I normally do and still maintain some money on the side after all is said and done...so I don't know what these dumbasses are doing with their money but if they're broke it's their fault...it's waaay too early to make such a sweeping generalization saying the middle class has become the poor...

NYC is a big ripoff...I have no regrets about leaving...

Do you seriously believe that shit? I mean really shut up already. A single person living in the outer boros making 70k is killing them. ONce their rent is covered and I'm assuming at market rate of 1200 per month they are living rather nicely.

The only niggas that can't make is are the once with terrible money management skills.

I see peeps every day in nyc, single making 35k living comfortable.

Michigan is getting hit the worst. abandoned homes everywhere...

a white boy i work with just moved down here from the detroit suburbs... he says the same thing: michigan is fucked.

down here in houston, there are jobs everywhere, but as you ride thru both good & bad neighborhoods, there are LOTS of houses for sale... new & old, 1st sells & foreclosures.

i looked at a 3000 sq ft. NEW HOME last week that was listed for $185K. that's 5 BR's, 2.5 baths, 2 story. but it was in what i call a "questionable" neighborhood due to the zoning.

youre living in a vacuum... leave your shit hole and look at the rest of America and you will see the problem.

according to U.S economist, $30k and up to about $70k or so

That is a huge gap.

30K middle class means you are living in a poor city, lack city resources, subject to mass layoffs etc.
If not you are lower class.

70K middle class means you are living in a city with a high cost of living, most likely rent because real estate is high, work more hrs than the average.

I would say middle is more 50K-70K.

I wouldn't even count teachers, cops, firemen as middle class anymore (they used to be).

Seems like you would be the one living in a shit hole based on your skewed perspective...

The Dollar has been fallen since late '05. This fucks up my Asian trip big time. I thought last year coup in Thailand would upset the Baht. Wrong! The American Dollar continued to go down like a Thai hooker. And even ask about the Singapore Dollar or the Philippine Peso. I got nightmares thinking about that. I going have to add at least another 20 to 25% in traveling expensives. Thank goodness for the Hong Kong Dollar. Its nearest thing to a stable currency in the region. I believe after we pull out of Iraq, major changes will occur causing the Dollar to rise. when that happens i'm going to..:lol::dance:

I don't see any $1200 apts here in Brooklyn. More like 1600-2000. Perhaps we have different definitions of what living comfortably is. 35 k means you could never take a taxi, never eat out, never buy drinks in a bar, never buy shoes or anything else but food and a metrocard. That is not living comfortably to me.

well depends here in the tri state area there are some Law Enforcement agencies where cops are pulling in average over 100k a yr notable Nassau and Sufflok county cops. NYC Firemen pulling in damn near 90k base.

Long Island teachers pulling 85k after 5 yrs, so again middle class is defined on your geographic location in the U.S

I told you he was the one to ask that question to...he doesn't have a firm grasp of what middle class is...

So should I break it down on what locations? bed stuy, canarsie? ENY? crown heights? oh wait you talking about Brooklyn heights right?

Who the fuck takes a Taxi in BK aside from livery cabs when ninjas hop on the Train all day everyday smh

I am starting to believe you telling hood stories and you are really not in NYC. Ningas are still going out on 35k and single, still eating out and still buying cloths. Seriously stop lookin at T.V :hmm:

who the fuck wants to live in canarsie or ENY? :smh:
I am talking about Bed Stuy and surrounding vicinity. I am right here and currently looking for a spot so I know what places are going for. I take taxis all the time especially when I am going somewhere not near my train line or when i am carrying alot of valuables or coming home late and drunk from a spot. I am not talking about eating out at Mcdonalds or Kennedy Fried. :hmm: Living ghetto is not living comfortable at least not here.

What's happening is people are spending their money stupidly and then screaming "poverty"...no they're not "poor" they just have poor spending habits...when I was working in NYC I wasn't in the middle class range maybe I would've been considered extremely lower middle class () but I managed to live comfortably...and so did many others who earned the same salary...

Your a supreme idiot :smh:

Little do you know a lot of crackas are moving into Canarsie and ENY to take advantage of the low rent along with Bed Stuy. The A and C train runs right through Bed Stuy yet YOU are the only one taking cabs. When I say eating out I'm talking about going into Manhattan not McDonalds nor Kennedy fried chicken.
