5/3: Oscar vs. Forbes

The Fight Network caught up with trainer extraordinaire, Floyd Mayweather Sr., who said that he's been in contact with Oscar De La Hoya, and will be working The Golden Boy's corner for the foreseeable future, which includes the September rematch with Floyd's son, Floyd Mayweather Jr.

"I didn't work their first fight, but I'm going to work it this time."
"Oscar said that he wants me to be his trainer until the end of his career, so that obviously includes whatever he has planned for September," said Mayweather, who claims De La Hoya's trainer for the first Mayweather fight, Freddie Roach, did a sub-par job of preparing his fighter.

"There was a steep decline with Freddy "The Joke Coach" Roach in Oscar's corner."

"Oscar even told me that Roach was all about conditioning, and I was more tactical and technical, and Oscar said I was better at conditioning then Roach."

According to Mayweather, the issues that kept the esteemed trained from working De La Hoya's corner in the May 2007 megabout with Floyd Jr., have, to the best of his knowledge, been dealt with.

Oh no...

That Cotto/Gomez and Margarito/Cintron card is on April 12th, the same day that I will be at the Tarver/Woods - Johnson/Dawson card...FUCK...

Guess I will have to record that sucker then :(

Da Fugg? Not one mention for the first fight-of-the-year coming up this weekend?

http://www.sho.com/site/sports/VazquezVSMarquezIII.do

It's already goin down as one of the greatest trilogies ever witnessed and it did something that Gatti/Ward,Barerra/Morales,Bowe/Holyfield,and even Ali/Frazier couldn't do....Have the rematch (2nd fight) be better than the first.

What happened to a Vernon "Viper" Forrest vs. Antonio "Magic Man" Tarver? Why is De La Hoya fighting Forbes instead of Forrest? Why isn't Cotto fighting Forrest. Why are these guys ducking? Forrest is back and on his game.

Can I get

Miranda vs. Wright
Taylor vs Wright II
Chad Dawson vs. Roy Jones
Maglignaggi vs. Hatton
Trinidad vs. Tarver

Whoa...the only matchup out of what you said that is remotely close to happening is Hatton/Malignaggi...Wright ain't going to fight nobody big since he's staying at 160, Pavlik won't fight him, and Wink ain't interested in fighting Abraham

Jones wants to fight either Calzaghe (if he wins) or Taylor at 168...Miranda has some fight lined up for later this year and then may have a rematch with Allan Green

De La Hoya would be absolutely dumb to risk another 20 million dollar payday by facing Forrest in May, especially when Forrest is a natural super welter and Oscar is basically a welterweight...

I feel bad for missing that...those two fights were a killer. This one promises to be great

Sounds like you've been watching too many heavyweights lately.

co-sign...

and speaking of heavyweights, Sam Peter and Oleg Maskaev square off in Mexico this weekend on HBO...It damn sure won't be a Marquez-Vazquez III, but I hope it will be somewhat of a slugfest...

I caught this fight and it was entertaining for the disappointment the heavyweights have been in past months/years. Peter's tough, took a few blows from Maskaev that would've sure put someone down. But Peter's resilience and punching power took over. Although he needs to work to the body more he still got the KO. Klitschko needs to be sharp b/c a man with punching power can make it his fight any day.
