Best thing Ive heard in 2008 as far as hip-hop is concerned!!!

"THE TEACHA" KRS ONE signs to Duck Down and readies new album with Buckshot, of Black Moon.

KRS ONE is a significant figure in the Hip-Hop community and is often credited by critics and other Hip-Hop artists as epitomizing the "essence" of an emcee. It is no surprise then, that KRS-ONE decided it would make the most sense to combine forces with Buckshot, of Black Moon and record a new album on Duck Down Records. Buckshot shares similar philosophies as KRS-ONE, one of which is the notion of the "Stop the Violence Movement," which KRS-ONE is actively involved with.

KRS-ONE turned to Dru Ha and Buckshot (co-owners of Duck Down Records) to bring a certain sound and production to this upcoming project, a request that Duck Down Records Co-President Dru Ha was honored to fulfill "To say we are honored and humbled would be an understatement. Buck and I have known KRS since our early days in the game, back when we were recording at D&D Studios and he directly influenced the name of the label with his song "Duck Down" (sucka Mc's Duck). He was also instrumental in one of Buck's first and biggest records as Da Beatminerz flipped the "How Many MC's" vocal sample from KRS. But with the nostalgic feelings of KRS being one of my favorite MC's growing up to the side, it's KRS's continued relevance of today that's most exciting. KRS has a message in his lyrics, a gladiator performer who reps the culture and posses all the qualities that an MC should embody: Meaningful lyrics, mastery of the flow, intense creativity and a ferocious live show. I know how much respect Buck has for KRS, so I can only imagine how this will elevate his game. It's Old School to those that don't keep up with the current works and movements but to me, I would call it Now School."

Three tracks have already been recorded and the chemistry between the two artists is very natural. Buckshot described the work as "CONFLOSATION, even when KRS ONE is flowing he's having a conversation with his audience. This collaboration with KRS-ONE is going to be an album full of Hip-Hop conversation, ranging from New World Order, to socially conscious topics such as unemployment, poverty, and politics. At the same time, we will speak to the streets, as that is what I'm known to do. It's a dream to be able to work with KRS-ONE. Before I even began rapping that is who I checked for. I kept the "Blue Print" album on me at all times. That is all I listened to for an entire summer."

Check for the KRS-ONE & Buckshot's album later this year on Duck Down Records.

Duck Down hasn't been relevant since 1995.

Who cares at this point.

He should have just signed to Koch / TVT and done his own thing independentally.

Buckshot's album with 9th wonder was crazy, not to mention Sean Price's last 2 albums....Real hip-hop stays relevant regardless of whether the shit is readily available to you or not...
This is a big move...as far as music is concerned
I could give a damn if they play on hot 97 or stay relevant..
As long as that shit bumps...Id play a new KMD album or buckshot in the whip in the year 2030 ....it's about if it sounds good to the true Undeground masses...

Sean P's albums were good, but Buckshot's weren't :smh:

It's a good look that they are signing outside acts now, like they did with Kidz In The Hall

and btw....this is like the nets picking up jamal magrloire.

one and done:hmm:

krs great days are behind him, he like a veteran in free agency that is just a good name. even if his shit was hot, wont be any videos, he dont like BET or MTV, cause they brainwash niggas now. so if he gon ride off the strength of an album alone, he better be on some 50 get rich or die trying hype (not sayin he gon rap like him, saying that he has to come out with a bang to really get those cd's sold)

This should be a good move for both. Ive been listening to Best of Boot Camp Click in the whip for a while now. I miss those days!

Anyone who can't recognize the contributions of a Livin Legend like KRS-1, isn't really a student of Hip-Hop..... so someone please put them outta their misery and....

treat em' like this kitty and...

don't get me wrong......KRS ONE is a GREAT rapper....Excellent even...its just that he is in the wrong time now. his music will never truly be as appreciated as it was back in the day when i was a baby. i respect every thing he has done for hip hop, im just afraid its too late for him to achieve the success he once had.

but if he ever reaches that prior succes, i am happy for em, and i hope he does his thing.

duck down who

Home of the Boot Camp Clik. Dont sleep my nigga.

You see, this is why Hip-Hop's dead.

Just because BET and MTV aren't acknowledging somebody, don't mean they're wack. They've both been making dope music continuously for years. Just think about it, just one part of KRS's song "Steady Bounce" had heads goin' out and buyin Jeeps. Imagine if that song could've gotten some radio and BET play. It would've been a hit. Most people aint even know he made it.

To reiterate, Duck Down hasn't been relevant since 95. It went from being one of the hottest labels to having what, 3/4 artists who haven't had a hit since the mid-90's. Good "underground" albums here and there, some critical success but a hit?
Nope. And sad to say, but that's what keeps labels relevant.

Yes, they are a noted label. Are they relevant enough to carry and push someone as legendary as KRS-ONE, no, not in my opinion.

Like I said, if you read my entire statement, he would have been better (i.e. more profitable) if he went to Koch / TVT.

AI,

i said duck down who, because i really didnt know.

i didnt place a lol icon, or do it for comedy because i really didnt understand.

so no, i dont even watch BET or MTV. no need to.

duck down is actually on my ipod....i just never knew the name of it.

black moon is my shit, sean price is my shit, so it aint that type of party son. i just never knew.

no attack or offense to you, just letting you know i wasnt truly knowledgeable

I agree 100% with you statement...It depends on your interpretation of the word "relevant". To retort, in my view..the implications of Chris being on a underground and "noted" label speaks volumes more than Koch/TVT. Although, the main focus is to profit, KRS strikes me as doing it more for the message and music..he and Duckdown just have a better ring to it...
But this is simply my opinion..I always entertain different thoughts...

That's ironic...I always heard cats compare Buck to KRS-1...there are some similarities in their styles but the comparison was off...I like Buck but he was never on the level of KRS imo...anyway this is a good move...I'd like to hear the collaboration on this one...!

This is a big move...as far as music is concerned...

I agree...this isn't no industry shaking move meant to take over the charts and shit...but I expect good music to come out of the collaboration...

u must not keep up with music industry info. or didn't u know that lil jon been up in arms over those labels owing him money, and not recording any new material for them?
