I tried installing Mac Leopard 10.5.1 and it said installation failed...thing is I might not have formatted the hard drive correctly so I will try again later this weekend...
Keep us updated.
Also, if you don't like the plain jane look of the Thinkpad, get it custom painted to your liking.

I thought it was obvious from the photo and the list I wrote under the photo. You don't need a PC to count them. Just use your fingers.
Ouch, my bad homie.I didn't know if there were any more that just didn't fit into the picture. I looked at the pics without reading the caption. I'll be more observant next time.
pc.
will eventually get a mac just to have both
This is to ljinsane and all the others who truly believe in the Thinkpad. I found these comments posted on another board and was wondering if you all could weigh in with your opinions. These comments come from multiple people, but one of the most vocal on the subject was endorsing Acer a lot, so I'm skeptical about his or her opinion. I would post the link, but I'm not incredibly sure about BGOL's policy on that sorta thing.
DO NOT GET ACER!!!!
Please don't, I'm an IT manager. That said: I just want a Mac, cuz I'm a greedy bastard.
Colorware. They custom paint just about every kind of gadget.Hey EnSabahNur, where can I have this done? What kind of company/business does this type of thing?
commodore 64!!!!

I noticed the limited edition Woz 2gs on the left. You must be a collector. Do you use those for anything besides games?
Nah...You right about that anyway. The two 30"s in center are connected to one computer, the MacPro with 11Gb of ram. So it only counts as one. My oldest computer is G3 and it's off screen on my right. The second oldest is the G4 and it's barely peeking up on the bottom left corner. The MacBookPro is under my left elbow.
Sorry. I was just riff'n about the fingers, I thought you were riff'n me.
I do own them. Paid in blood, sweat and tears. but definitely paid for...
Thank God.
No. Really. I never brag..sept'n this here one time, but if I do brag, I gotta give God the Glory.
I had one beat down computer for 4 year, then I got all the Hotness Apple had to offer in two months. It was a miracle. I worked for Apple for two years and still couldn't afford it until two years after they fired me. I kept the faith. hahah.
DO NOT GET ACER!!!!
Please don't, I'm an IT manager. At my company, one of my predecessors decided to try to standardize on Acers. Dumbass, now every other week I have an Acer breaking down. And, their warranty support requires that you mail your laptop / desktop to them.
When recommending computers, I always recommend either Dell's or HP's. Because of the Next Business Day Warranty support. To the OP, if ThinkPads have the same type of warranty, then get a ThinkPad. I don't really buy the hype about one company's parts being better than another: expect your computer to break down. Regardless of the manufacturer (Mac's too, that's why they offer one year warranties. Also, that's why Mac tech's are always busy in the mac stores). With NBD support, you're only down 3 days at most.
I'm in the market for a new computer, I'm leaning towards a PC. I've worked with Mac's, supported Mac's. I'm not impressed. Mac's and PC's have problems, the claims that Mac's have less problems than a PC are crap. Mac's have less problems because there are less Mac's actually in use. There's a reason why MOST people / businesses use PC's. That said: I just want a Mac, cuz I'm a greedy bastard. And the only reason why I'm considering one is because it can dual boot Windows. I need a Windows computer for business / work purposes (more software available). Plus, I may be wrong but I notice that there aren't many customization options for Mac's, is that true?

PEACE!!!!!
You wanna hear something funny? I was just thinking to myself yesterday that I would buy a cheap Acer for now while I wait for either Lenovo or HP to come out with the new Montevina processors this summer, and then I would buy the real thing. I'm glad I swooped in here for a minute to read this.
Unfortunately, I have been doing a lot of research over the weeks and the Thinkpads have taken a hit in my mind. I have heard all kinds of horror stories about blue screens, malfunctions, poor build (yes sir), and other smaller complications. To my knowledge, I don't think they have a NBD warranty of any kind which also sucks. The bottom line, I am totally reconsidering a Thinkpad at this point. I know there is no such thing as the perfect laptop, but there's gotta be something really wrong with a computer or manufacturer when more than a handful of people are complaining about laptops that are malfunctioning right outta the box.
Please stay away from the Acers. That's one of the worst models that I've ever worked with (and I used to work with the Compaqs in the 90's)
Got to take this approach: ALL computers / laptops are crap. There are some stories where people say that they've had their computer for 5 years and nothing happened. Great for them, but not so great for the person who had the same model computer, and it crashed on them in 6 months.
The warranty, along with a good external backup is needed when purchasing a computer. (Mac or PC). I recommend Dell or HP, and they're crap. At my job I've had Dells malfuntion on me within 3 months. No problem, cussed out some Indians for a few minutes and the next day the tech was their to do my job.
Personally, I've settled on the Dell XPS 1530 for myself (4 year NBD warranty, and 4 year Accident Protection because I'm running my own business). Had to leave out the Blu Ray RW drive. Don't see myself needing it anytime soon.

If I was a PC User I would agree whole-hearted with this. But, I use Macs. I have no clue what your talking about. I don't know what virus are either, until I put XP on my mac. I have 5 Macs. 2 I have over 6 years. Only thing wrong with them are they are 6 years old. They work fine. I have hundreds of Macs as well when I was an Apple Rep. Non of my clients would agree with you either.
There's good computers and their bad computers. Macs are GREAT computers.![]()
