ENGADGET PREVIEW
http://www.engadget.com/2008/02/10/sonyericsson-xperia-x1-qwerty-with-windows-mobile/
It's here, the XPERIA X1 QWERTY from Sony Ericsson. Yes, full QWERTY to make the most of that Windows Mobile 6 operating system. SE's new XPERIA brand will focus on multimedia and mobile web communication. The X1 then, brings a 3-inch wide VGA (800 x 480) touchscreen display, 3.2 megapixel camera (with photo light), A2DP Bluetooth, aGPS, WiFi, and microSD -- just 400MB on board. On the phone side you've got quad-band GSM/EDGE, and 900/1700/1900/2100MHz UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA (or 850/1700/1900/2100MHz in what must be a US-bound model). Navigation is accomplished via touch, arc-sliding QWERTY, 4-way key and optical joystick. Now just replace that Internet Explorer Mobile browser with Opera Mobile 9.5 or Skyfire and the 110 x 53 x 16.7-mm X1 is ready to live up to its potential. You know, when it ships in "select markets" in the second half of 2008

nice phone..but not an iPhone. Do any of you realize it doesnt matter if a phone or mp3 player is released with better features than the iPhone/iPod? What matters is Apple has a following, and its growing and growing. Its brand.

One thing Apple did was make companies improve their smartphones.

Sony as a brand has been shit when it comes to quality for the past few years though.

Nice phone but typical Sony to give it a goofy ass name....Xperia.:rolleyes: And like dude said, even if someone comes out with a product better than iPhone , Apple's bullshit will still sell better because crackers believe Steve Jobs is Gawrd.

you got a sony ericsson Ming Fei Hong?----is that the 580i?

they make great phones, and the durability of the phone is remarkable---i dropped mine for since the 1st month of purchase, only 1 scratch and thats from my car keys scratching the corner while in my pocket-----that NOKIA has more features and looks like a really nice phone, but nokias have F'd up on be before, and Sony Ericsson's are
100% in my experience

anything with windows mobile ain't a iphone killer. Microsoft needs to learn not to hog memory. that's the problem with WM6 and Vista.

Exactly..the shit looked hot until I saw windows mobile on it. That shit freezes like crazy...I have the motorola Q and I'm on my 4th one....:smh:

I FELL YA ON THE DISLIKE OF WINDOWS MOBILE----MY GIRL HAS A T-MOBILE SHADOW W/ WM6 AND IT IS DOWNRIGHT IMPOSSIBLE TO MAKE MOVES ON---THE OS IS SO RAW AND UNFRIENDLY FOR THE USER

I THOUGHT THE SAME WHEN I SAW WM6 ON THE SONY PHONE, BUT MY HOMEBOY POINTED OUT THAT IT APPEARS TO HAVE A XMB(PS3/PSP) INTERFACE----MAYBE WM6 WAS USE TO DEVELOP AND UNLIKE OTHER WM6 PHONE THIS ONE WILL HAVE SONYS XMB INTERFACE FOR USERS TO OPERATE IT FLUIDLY------HOPE THIS IS THE CASE

se-x1x1_see_the_product_large_424jan08.jpg

LOOK AT THE PIC ON THE LEFT, AND YOU CAN SEE ITS NOT THE SAME WM6 WE'VE COME TO KNOW AND HATE

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

FUNNY, I WAS THINKING THE SAME THING, MAYBE THIS WILL BE THE "SIDEKICK KILLER" AFTER ALL IS SAID AND DONE

but nokias have F'd up on be before, and Sony Ericsson's are 100% in my experience

Thats what I'm sayin... Nokia's always look nice, and seem to be built well, but I know that its gonna breakdown on me at some point.

Amazingly, Sony Ericssons haven't for me, and for pretty much everyone I know they rate those phones..

Yeah, I had only intended to cop it for temporary use, until I found a permanent replacement for the worst phone ever created (Razr), but I liked it so much I kept it! Other phones have a lot more features, but those are features I don't need/use. It won't win any hi-tech pissing contests, but it suits me fine.

and the WALKMAN features on the w800i and I'm sure your 580i and just plain amazing------best musci phone IMO hands down................and those "ear-plug" headphones they use are comfortable beyond words---------------Sony Ericsson make a great phone

Reads like it has everything an iPhone hater might want!

How are the browsers, mail, and mp3 players on these phones?

That's what sets iphone apart from others to me.

The Iphone is the best smartphone so far...I think only the BlackBerry is close in terms of accessibility but in looks the Iphone far surpasses anything i've seen...That sony is nice though...any idea what company it would come under
