Blacks Instrumental To The Founding of........HOCKEY!?!

Our knowledge of the roots of Canadian hockey has been based almost solely on the historical records maintained by early White historians. Because of this, the misconception that hockey is a White man’s invention has persisted. We know today, such an assumption could not be further from historical fact. The roots of early Canadian hockey originate with the North American Indians. The roots of modern Canadian hockey originate, in large part, from the influence of an even more surprising source, that of early African-Canadian hockey. For it was Black hockey players in the later half of the nineteenth century whose style of play and innovations helped shape the sport, effectively changing the game of hockey forever.

I've played Ice, Deck, and Roller. The pure physical aspect of the game makes US (THE BLACK MAN) waaaayyyy better than Chez Whitey.:yes::yes:

Of course.. we can take over any sport if we want to. We've known that for millenniums.

Just because the basketball and football is perdominantly black doesnt mean they changed the way its played.

Anyone here ever play lacrosse? Great sport. I played for four year as a pre-teen coming up in the game of life. Combined with bball / track + field / soccer I was in the best fucking shape of my life from ages 5 - 18.5 . CARDIO FOR MUTHAFUCKIN' DAYS!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lacrosse

"Lacrosse was invented by Native North Americans. Its name was dehuntshigwa'es in Onondaga ("men hit a rounded object"), da-nah-wah'uwsdi in Eastern Cherokee ("little war"), Tewaarathon in Mohawk language ("little brother of war"), and baaga`adowe in Ojibwe ("bump hips").[3]

The game was named lacrosse by early French missionaries . It is widely and inaccurately believed that the name stems from the French term "crosse", for the shepherd's crooklike crosier carried by bishops as a symbol of office. Jesuit missionary Jean-de-Brébeuf noted the resemblance between the crosier and the shape of the racket stick in the Relation des Jésuites around 1640. In fact, the term crosse is a general word in French for any type of bat or stick used in a ball game. The name lacrosse is simply a reflection of this term, and perhaps a shorthand for a phrase such as "le jeu de la crosse" (the game of the stick).[4]

Lacrosse traditionally had many different purposes. Conflict resolution and training of young warriors was only one part of the game. Games could be played on a pitch over a mile wide and sometimes lasted for days. Often players were gravely injured or even killed. Early balls were made out of the heads of the enemy, deerskin, clay, stone, and sometimes wood. Lacrosse has played a significant role in the community and religious life of tribes across the continent for many years. Early lacrosse was characterized by deep spiritual involvement, befitting the spirit of combat in which it was undertaken. Those who took part did so in the role of warriors, with the goal of bringing glory and honor to themselves and their tribes, and as a religious ritual.[5] The game was said to be played "for the pleasure of the Creator."

And run it into the ground.

(So you have no problem with whites "taking over" rock 'n' roll, right?)

Actually whites didn't take it over. Music is a melodic expression of feelings and thought. We "chose" to express our feelings and thoughts through other forms of music, such as hip-hop, R&B and Neo-Soul. Believe me, if we choose to express ourselves through Rock and Roll music, we would take that over too...

run it into the ground:lol:

only if you consider building a sports popularity to the point where its a multibillion dollar industry then yeah blacks ran football, baseball and basketball into the ground

we bring a style of play and athletisism to a sport that didn't have it on that level before..which is why those sports where we dominate are among the most popular and increase in popularity and revenue.

and if you're referring to acts of hooliganism then I submit that you look at european soccer if you want to see REAL thug shit..

try again:smh:

Actually, whites run those industries (and American blacks aren't prominant in baseball).

Basketball's popularity has DEcreased since the '80s because of the "style of play and athleticism," and a lack of a white superstar. The decline in the knowledge of fundamentals in basketball has always been linked to the rise of the black athlete. Selfish showboating isn't appreciated outside of the schoolyard. It turns people off to the game.

Nothing about being "black" makes anyone a better athlete, competitor or, especially, a better sportsman.

I think the white men who sit at the top of the pyramids of all major sports would disagree.

I don't think so. Those guys are rich because blacks came into the arena and made it marketable by bringing style and athletism to it.

true whites do run those industries but the face marketted is black..how many white owners can fill a stadium like Micheal Jordan could in his hey day? I don't see anyone printing the face of white owners on a jersey and selling out.

other than Larry Bird name another white superstar that could carry a team in the same manner he did in the 80s?

hell it was a black player that brought the NBA back in terms of popularity in the 70s and that was Julius Erving coming over from the ABA..in fact that "showboating school yard" style of play was exactly the kind of play the ABA players brought over to the NBA popularized by the slam dunk...and those where mostly black players then.

From the period between John Havilchek and Larry Bird MOST of the most popular players were black.

Nothing about being "black" makes anyone a better athlete, competitor or, especially, sportsman.

i didn't say that..i said our STYLE of play and athletecism is what tends to stand out.

Thanks for the info....

I got a nice Canadian chick who's son would probably be inspired and educated by something like this...
