You know where it is

Black Ice, the award-winning UNINTERRUPTED documentary that exposes a history of racism in hockey through the untold stories of Black hockey players, both past and present, in a predominantly white sport. Directed by Academy Award®- and Emmy-nominated filmmaker Hubert Davis, Black Ice masterfully navigates the challenges, triumphs, and unique experiences faced by these athletes through poignant firsthand accounts from Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) hockey players past, including Willie O'Ree, the first Black player in the National Hockey League, and former professional hockey player Akim Aliu, with the stories of present stars, including P.K. Subban and Wayne Simmonds. The film explores the deep BIPOC roots of the game, dating back to 1865 and the Colored Hockey League of the Maritimes (CHL), the first all-pro league, which not only introduced the slapshot but shaped the game of hockey we know today. Davis exposes racist patterns that span generations, even highlighting stories of how sports institutions have exerted pressure on players seeking change to remain silent.

.....and of course you dudes didn't support the documentary about black people made by black people at the theaters
What documentary was that? The way you worded this I don't know if you mean THIS or another documentary. I can't support it, if I don't know about it. Most documentaries aren't going to play nationwide in all theaters

This documentary I supported at the theaters. :hmm:

Homie, I thought this shyt was BRAND NEW!!!! So that is the fault of marketing! And Documentaries don't do well in theaters, they do better in streaming, so they'll likely only show in larger markets.

Yep. This was a limited release in AMC theaters.

Okay, so documentaries are pretty cheap to make. A limited release ONLY in AMC theaters, they don't need a lot to make their money back. Once it hits streaming services is where they will make the majority of their money. There used to be two different theaters between me and an a AMC theater (the bigger one closed due to COVID) so I wouldn't go to an AMC theater unless I am doing something out by that way. But you can't sit here and shame folks for a movie that they can't see!!

**EDIT**
It does say that it is Exclusive to AMC theaters in the title and on the thumbnail, completely over looked that!

To get back on track of the documentary itself. I wonder how the conversation of these players came up to LeBron and his team. We have talked about PK and the shyt he's had to go through when he played against Boston. And there is another thread that went into his life in more detail. But a Negro Hockey League and the history of that league is pretty dope! AmeriKKKa puts the baseball and basketball leagues front and center, but this makes you wonder if there was a Negro Soccer League or a Negro Pickle Ball League! Who were the Michael Jordan's of those eras/leagues?

It airs quite often on TSN here in Canada.

They have a number of channels, like ESPN.

I'm surprised.

Whenever a black Canadian achieves something noteworthy the system goes out of its way to deny that they were black. If that can't be done they'll go out of their way to deny that they were Canadian.

Hopefully airing this is a sign of change.

Yeah definitely going to check this out. My big homie played hockey in SE DC at one of the few all black hockey teams in the USA....This film follows them....Coach Neal Henderson is one of the Hockey Legends....

Not to take away from this film, but Brothers on Ice is a good one. Not sure if it's on like Amazon Prime or some other streaming platform...

How is hockey any different from all the other professional sports or any other profession for that matter. The struggle to engage in any noble activity is always surreal for black people near everywhere but africa.
