Who don't know this shit? Im' tired of the same rhetoric. BLAH BLAH BLAH now what. What the fuck they gonna do about it? NOTHING. Host more low budget cable access shows and complain.

Truth, why don't you learn to be more respectful. If you have an issue with this thread, why not give a critical assessment. Your outlandish, disrespectful behavior is your biggest weakness.

Your biggest weakness is pretending to be a black panther knowing damn well you let white women slap you and call your momma a whore.

Truth, can you take your beef to another thread............ thanks.

I don't want this one to go off track.

Thanks.

I doubt that. I wouldn't let anyone calling me a name that refers to an animal, just because it's black. I'm far from an animal, and so are you.

Be careful about carelessly tossing around that "slave" label.

I bet if we could use time travel to bring forth one of our ancestors, who was really a slave, and you told him we were slaves too, he would laugh at you like you were a cot damn fool.

And then he would get busy taking advantage of all those opportunities that we have that slaves never dreamed of.

Noted.

However these opportunities lead me away from myself...............

It's like a carrot
leading us away to nought
Our physical freedom paid and bought
By those who fought

But now we are in a different war
Apples and oranges some saw
Can you judge a man's contentment
On his body or his soul

Is it worst to know self
While suffering physical pain
Or be physically comfortable
And lose who you are again
Just some questions
Going through my brain...........

Kayanation.

OK kayanation, I watched the clip and the Sister had some good points but I think her assumption that we are in a daze en masse goes too far.

Yeah, alot of us aren't inspired but I think that is more a decision than the result of a psychological act by whites. Opportunities are far better and more abundant than they once were and we still haven't maxed them out yet.

Does it mean ALL of us can be successful? No. But I'd be willing to bet that of the portion of potential that "they" would be comfortable with us realizing, we've probably tapped 60% of it.

But, again, more from choice than a subconscious crippling at the hands of a white plan.

You said it..."slave" label. Some didn't adhere to that label. Take Kunta for example, he never considered himself a slave, always a warrior. Some would argue that the act of being enslaved makes you a slave. I'm not here to argue that. But, just because someone calls you something doesn't mean you have to believe it.

So you do have some slaves today who accept a lower role in society by assimilating and forever harboring a defeatist attitude.

Peace

Good point...........

That's the problem: very few people actually know how mentally enslaved they are.

I disagree D. From day one we've been conditioned to certain types of behavior. After 400+ years it's very difficult to identify, let alone break the cycle of self-immolation. But one thing is sure: we didn't begin the process on ourselves. Nor did we set it up to perpetuate itself.

Especially in light of the fact that we have bought into the European definition of success.

That alone in itself sets the tone for the direction in which we live our lives..................

Great Drop Kaya

Viewing things from an historically global perspective it isn't difficult to embrace where this sister is coming from, her insights are very real on the subject of culture. Her book is next up on the reading list.

And what exactly are you contributing to this discussion?

Dr. Truth is right. You can post this video as much as you want, it doesn't matter.

"Niggas are scared of revolution" - Last Poets

Most rappers today screaming get money, but when they see their brother getting oppressed and beat the fuck down, they ignore it and keep on being distracted by the dolla dolla bill y'all..

So many of us spend our lives in a conscious coma, fully aware of what is going on but powerless to lift a finger to stop it. Langston Hughes once talked about a dream too long deferred becoming a withered grape. We have used that grape to make Mad Dog 20/20 and have attempted to drink ourselves out of the reality of our condition.

Propaganda on television, radio, and internet, attacking your emotions, rationality, distracting you from what's really important.Another example: All, and I mean ALL politicians only trying to appeal to our passions and prejudices. It's a shame no one realizes once we vote this November, we'll just be jumping back into another form of slavery.

But nobody cares or wants to hear that so I'll just stop typing...

I think ignorance is a culprit to some black people, not all. For the most part, we realize the opportunities around us, but fail to utilize them. For instance, College is not for everyone, especially when you spend 4 years there and get, lets say a Liberal Arts Degree. On the real, what the hell is that going to do for you. We need to look at skilled trades, innovative thinking, and plans. What I mean, teach your kids that money is needed to survive in this world, fuck the B.S. tell them to obtain skills that will make them money, then most of their dreams will fall together. Maintain good credit, educated themselves with MEANINGFUL DEGREES.

Finally, I think this is the most important one of all...STOP BEING LAZY, get up and make moves. Procrastination will kick you in your ass in the future.

Slaves, yeah maybe at the hands of our own ignorance. That's why I stay in my kids asses about learning the moves of CORPORATE WHITE AMERICA. In order to understand something, you must study it. Hell you think them white folks don't study us, you sadly mistaken. While we continue to purchase shit that has no monetary value (rims, jewelry, fad clothing, etc.), white people are teaching their kids how to manage check books, mutual funds, stock & bonds.

I bet you a percentage of the people on BGOL don't know what the fuck a stock, bond, or 401K plan is... which may lead to another thread to start later. Better wake up black folks...white people ain't going no damn where and will always think that they are in control. Real Talk

It's funny that while I was reading your post,I remembered what the sister was talking about in one of the videos.

She said that educational institutions encourage us to study our present condition so that it could be used against us.

She then proceeded to study European behavior instead.

I think even in institutions of "higher" learning, we become partly our own enemy by studying trends in the black community, the same trends that are used against us in policy development in areas such as law enforcement, the judicial system, education, economics etc......

For example the Tuskegee Experiment was used to track the movement of syphilis through the black community (even though vaccines were available).

Did this pave the way/was the precursor for the spread of HIV in the black community???

What new study is going to come out this week about blacks?

How is it going to be used in developing policy???

Preach on, brotha. Folks don't even know this is NOT our traditional way of thought, they're too busy waiting for some european diety to save them.
