You got NBA, NFL, NHL, MLB and the Soccer leagues. I didn't include Track and Field cause they're one-dimensional sports with no teamwork.

Criteria from ALL PLAYERS
NBA NFL NHL SOCCER
ATHLETICISM X 1/2 X
HAND-EYE Co-ORDINATION X 3/4 X
STAMINA X X
QUICKNESS X X X X
STRENGHT X X X
QUICK DECISION MAKING SKILLS X X X X
MULTI-DISCIPLINARY SKILLS. X 1/2 1/2 X

I think I'll basketball players take it. In basketball you have to be an above average athlet, even Jeff Foster displays more athleticism than most in MLB and NHL.

Hand-eye co-ordination is a must for dribbling and shooting.

Unlike Football, Hockey and Baseball they are no line changes or stoppages and you must play both offense and defense.

Basketball requires both quickness and brute strenght.

In basketball there's no hiding, a 6'5 guard gotta guard a 6'10 PF in the post coming off a picka and roll. In Football you can alway take out his legs or force him out of bounds.

Best athletes will always be in contact sports. Try concentrating on catching a big ass ball thrown at you 70 miles an hour while a 260 lb linebacker is running at you full speed. You have to be mentally and physically well rounded to play contact sports. Basketball players cry every time someone smacks their finger. As far as track and field being one-dimensional you should watch the decathalon or pentathlon competitions. There is nothing one dimensional about it. The NBA has some great athletes but no where near the level of NFL. I'll take the NFL over it anyday. Coordination, quickness, speed agility, intelligence and toughness are the attributes to a great athlete. You don't see a that combination much in the NBA. (At least not anymore). Take the NFL guys and NBA guys and let them play each other in their respective sports. The NFL guys will hold up much better in basketball than the NBA guys would hold up in football. NBA guys wouldn't even last the game. By the way, hockey and baseball also play both ways(defense and offense).

LOL You kidding right?? Explain Antonio Gates??? Isn't he one of the top 3 tight ends in the NFL???

Randy Moss would suck in the NBA. He proved that already.

Basketball players only "cry" every time someone smacks their fingers because there are more personal fouls in the NBA and you get more for it than in the NFL. Plenty NBA guys are two sport athletes, for example Lebron was All State in football in Ohio in High School.

What messes the NFL up is the fact that they have so many players who aren't athletic - like offensive linemen. Also there's probably more steroids in the NFL than basketball. In the NFL also a greater percentage of the population can be able to play. With enough work ayone can make it. In basketball you can be considered too short at 6'.

Then consider the coordination and athleticism a 6'8, 6'10 player has to have in the nfl.

Didn't realize the question only had to do with guy's 6'8" and above. The question was athletic ability. I've played football, basketball, and lacrosse ( high school and college). You aren't going to find many athletes as good as football. You think Lebron is going to out-muscle Champ Bailey for a pass or outrun Ed Reed. Unlikely. He can't even shoot a free-throw and that's his job.

Never said they would be great in the NBA, just stated that they would fare better against NBA players in basketball than NBA players would against NFL players in football.

LMAO

Lebron is 6'8 245. He outmuscles guys HIS size in the NBA. You think 6'0 192 Champ Bailey is gonna outmuscle Lebron and his 40" vertical?

And the question doesn't have to do with guys 6'8 and above, don't be a fuckin idiot.

Also, one player affects a nba game far more than in the nfl. Players can cover each other's weaknessess.

The NBA has better athletic guy. The NFL is more along the line of gladiators.

depending on body size etc nba wins hands down

most nba guards would easily start as receivers in the nfl
many forwards would be probowl tight ends

nfl has 10x the risk and half the reward

hand eye coordination goes to mlb

strength goes to nfl

agility - nba
endurance - nba
jumping - nba
speed - nfl with nba a close second

for the best athletes with high marks in all of those areas it has to be the nba

endurance and toughness goes to MMA and Boxing

soccer baby. those players are the most conditioned out there running and sweeping players and don't get me started with tackling and kicking other players it fucking hurts ass hell.

Lebron has crazy acceleration too.

anyway you'd never see a guy who was talented enough to be a nba star go into the NFL becuase the union is shit and the money is shorter for a shorter career

why is it that many basketball players from college who goe to the NFL become probowlers? Gates, Tony Gonzales, Julius Peppers but they would be NBDL at best in the NBA?

tell the soccer players to jump as high in the air as they can and get swatted down by a 6'10 280lb guy and then get right back up and do it again for a few hours then they'd be ready for the nba

Allen Iverson> all soccer players

Man, I'm not shocked that no one chose the NHL, so i guess i will. I think they should be given more consideration as far as producing great athletes. First off, the mode of transportation is way harder. I dont know how many brothaz skate, but i do, and when i started out that shit is hard. So just the shear balance you have to obtain its hard in itself. The hand eye co-ord, its comparable to MLB, like you catching shit with a stick, and catching a pass that way is hard just as it is delivering one. Then the strength is one the level of the NFL, those dudes have hard hits laid on them constantly, and its a constant contact sport. So i'll make this arguement if no one else will because Hockey is hard and they produce some good athletes. Peace!!!

I have th think its the MMA guys. the nature of the sport combines stamina, coordination, quickness, strength as well as decision making skills.

It is difficult to choose a sport. Every sport has a different kind of conditioning. Boxing shape, Football shape, etc....Normally none can cross train and be great in another sport. Case and point, Michael Jordan, baseball. You also had Bo Jackson and Dion Sanders as exceptions. If you want one sport or discipline I would choose Martial Arts, Boxing 2nd, Football 3rd.

gotta be a dumb ass cracka. wut black man play lacross.

i play football and i can tell u b-ball players are way more athletic.

i hardly watch it but im convinced thats its soccer the amount of stamina required for the sport is crazy im not sure what sport comes close. basketball second football third

I think hockey players are often slighted in this argument. It is the fastest amongst the sports mentioned. If you have ever been to ice level at a pro game you will definately notice it.

The skill needed to skate effectively forward and backward whilst controling a puck thats only 3 inches across is a difficult act. In addition, while all this is happening you got people trying to pop the shit out of you, LOL.

I think people tend to forget about hockey since few of us play the game or even know about the game. There are many grassroots efforts to get more of us playing in Hockey cities like Detroit, Chicago, Boston, Philly. I have been involved in this effort and the kids really enjoy it.

Blunt, shifts are normally shorter than 3 minutes (closer to 1 minute at some levels) but this is because Skating is anaerobic not aerobic meaning you have to rest so often to maintain top performance over the course of a game.

Still, the fact is that there are regular rest periods throughout hockey (as in football, basketball and baseball as well) ... unlike in soccer, where the starters pretty much have to play the whole game at a torrid, physical pace with rare pauses and no substitutions ('cept for injury).

Good post. I played football and basketball in college and although you would hear people saying that the NBA had the greatest athletes, it was plain to me that the football players were better athletically. They are stronger, faster and tougher.
