Interesting. Affleck also worked with Steven Yeun earlier this year for another Netflix project - The Rip - released in January.

Good to see Yeun picking up a variety of roles in the years since The Walking Dead.

He was great in Minari.

Minari (Korean: 미나리; lit. 'water celery'; [minaɾi]) is a 2020 American drama film written and directed by Lee Isaac Chung. It stars Steven Yeun, Han Ye-ri, Alan Kim, Noel Kate Cho, Youn Yuh-jung, and Will Patton. A semi-autobiographical take on Chung's upbringing, its plot follows a family of South Korean immigrants who move to rural Arkansas during the 1980s.<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minari#cite_note-6"><span><span>[</span>6<span>]</span></span></a>

Minari had its world premiere at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival on January 26, 2020, winning both the U.S. Dramatic Grand Jury Prize and the U.S. Dramatic Audience Award.<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minari#cite_note-7"><span><span>[</span>7<span>]</span></span></a> It began a one-week virtual release on December 11, 2020, and was released theatrically and via virtual cinema on February 12, 2021, by A24.

The film received critical acclaim, with praise for Chung's direction and screenplay, Yeun's and Youn's performances, and the score. Both the National Board of Review and the American Film Institute named Minari one of the best films of 2020, and it has since been cited as one of the best films of the 21st century.<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minari#cite_note-8"><span><span>[</span>8<span>]</span></span></a><a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minari#cite_note-9"><span><span>[</span>9<span>]</span></span></a><a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minari#cite_note-10"><span><span>[</span>10<span>]</span></span></a> At the 93rd Academy Awards, it earned six nominations, including Best Picture, and won Best Supporting Actress for Youn, who became the first Korean actor to win an Oscar. Minari also won the Golden Globe Award for Best Foreign Language Film, was nominated for the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture, and earned six nominations at the 74th British Academy Film Awards, including Best Film Not in the English Language.

I actually thought it was trash… weapons had a better trailer and all it had was a bunch of kids run out their houses into the woods at night with someone narrating.. I was more intrigued by that than this… with this it’s a bunch of known actors with a state of emergency or amber alert horn going off with Ben as some political nig and a black wife, guess I’m supposed to fig out someone was kidnapped that he loved and his struggle with maybe trying to get them back.. give me the kids running into woods any day as a better trailer

Ice Cream Man

I would always see the graphic novel for Ice Cream Man on the shelves at comic shops and I would thumb through it so going into this movie i thought I was going to get a mix of Tales From The Crypt and The Twilight Zone but unfortunately thats not what this movie turned out to be. I did like the family that is presented at the start of the film. Mom,Dad,Son,and the hot sister with an even hotter friend. I enjoyed their banter. But once the bloody mayhem started I realized this is a movie that was lacking in logic and reason, and anyone that accepts that also has to accept that the characters act as if they are completely mute. I think this can only be enjoyed if its viewed as a parody. Some of the kills were fun but this was definitely an over the top gorefest. Theres no explanation of why a couple of things happen. You don't get much from The Ice Cream man but some mime like moves. I couldn't fully get on board with some of the backstory. To silly and uninvolving.

Scale of 1 to 10 a 2½

Primitive War
2025

8/10

This film popped up on Hulu back in February, I saved it and later went too watch it and it was gone.

I discovered Disney had screwed up and mistakenly uploaded before they were allowed too due to their contract. They put it back up on Hulu on April 1st. I watched it last night on the road.

I’m not gonna go into it, but this film is everything the Jurassic Park films is not. If you wanted to see Dinosaurs in the JP films tear into people and eat them, this film delivers. You get to see people ripped apart and gobbled up by the dinosaurs.

The film is a hybrid of the classic Arnold Schwarzenegger ‘Predator’ and recent ‘Jurassic World: Rebirth’. The film takes place during the Vietnam War with a Special Operations Team engaging with dinosaurs. They got maximum firepower and still get their Ass’ kicked.

VFX/SFX and CGI of the dinosaur look good. I went into it expecting ‘Arrowverse’ SFX, but they did a good job with this film. Violence is graphic. The film has an all-star cast of B and D-List actors from familiar film/tv series.

There is plenty of action starting at the 30 minute mark and going to the final scene of the film. Minimal drama/talk.

The film has become a sleeper hit and was grenlighted for a sequel earlier this year. Both films are based off existing books.

The film continues during the end credits roll giving insight on what will happen in the sequel.

Definitely looking forward to it.

Synopsis

A US Army reconnaissance unit ("Vulture Squad") is sent to find a missing platoon and discovers they are not alone, facing dinosaurs.

‘Primitive War 2’ Announced: Dinosaurs in Vietnam War Sequel Will Up Drama With ‘Secret Cold War Agendas’ (EXCLUSIVE)

“Primitive War 2” is in the works, Variety can confirm. Luke Sparke is returning to write, direct and produce the sequel through his Sparke Films. He also served as the editor, production designer and VFX supervisor on last year’s first film. The franchise is based on Ethan Pettus’ book series.

“The first film was about discovery,” Sparke said in a statement. “This is about escalation — what happens when control is lost, when nature adapts faster than military doctrine and when the war itself becomes secondary to what’s been unleashed.”…

…Per the official description, “‘Primitive War 2’ expands the scope and mythology of the franchise, pushing deeper into the Vietnam conflict zone where 1960’s warfare collides with prehistoric predators.

The sequel is positioned as a darker, more intense escalation — and more grounded war epic — continuing the series’ distinctive blend of military realism and survival horror.

Set in the aftermath of the original film, ‘Primitive War 2’ follows a new U.S. platoon sent into an increasingly unstable valley, where competing kill zones, rival apex predators and secret Cold War agendas converge.

As containment collapses, the mission becomes one of survival — and the cost of failure threatens to extend far beyond the battlefield.”…

The Strangers: Prey At Night
2018

5/10

I watched this film this morning at home. I reviewed the first film last month in the thread. This is the sequel. I watched it on tubi.

It takes place shortly after the first film with the killers going after another family consisting of tw/o parents and two teenagers.

The premise plays out the same way as the first film. So nothing new. Suspense is pretty much predictable after being familiar with how the killers operate in the first film.

Violence is pretty much the same with graphics as the first.

For the Thirsty, Christina Hendricks co-stars. They got her looking like a burnt out MILF. They try to hide those G-Cups, but you can see the outline of them in her shirt.

Overall, it’s a ok film.

Die Hard 1 & 3.
Die Hard 2 can go fuck itself right along with all the post-3 (we don't use numbers anymore) sequels.
The eject out the airplane scene, the bad guy making the pilot crashing the plane, the twist with the military squad being down with the bad guys, here’s your landing light holly… die hard 2 also was a Christmas movie… funny thing you like the 1 that had mix feelings with people die hard 3.. either people loved it or hated it.. I like it .. the funny thing Simon says was supposed to be a whole different movie, the die hard people liked it and just took the script and added a few things to make it a die hard movie

I was listening to the Hollywood Raw podcast recently, and they did an episode about people that had been blacklisted during their time in the biz.

They were saying one of the shitty things about that (when done by the likes of Weinstein or others) is that word gets around and others are less likely to want to work with you, even without actual concrete proof of you being difficult or problematic as a star. The reality being the person making the claims is the one with the real problem(s) (preying on people, etc).

In 2017, Sorvino came out publicly about the sexual harassment she endured from producer Harvey Weinstein[40] and believes her career was damaged after she rebuffed Weinstein's advances.[41][42] According to Peter Jackson, Weinstein blocked Sorvino and Ashley Judd (her co-star from Norma Jean and Marilyn), another of his alleged victims, from being considered for parts in The Lord of the Rings films.[43] In 2019, she also made public that she was a date rape victim.[44][45][46]

If Universal was smart.

They would do a reunion film bringing all the surviving characters back to officially close out their stories.

MJF would return dealing with his Parkinson’s.

C. Lloyd would return dealing with Alzheimer’s.

The plot would be that MJF grandkids come from the future saying that his/Doc’s actions in the first 3 films caused unexpected issues in the time line.

In order to correct things, they gonna have to go back into the 3 movies to make some corrections.

With current CGI/A.I., it shouldn’t be difficult to edit them into the original films and possibly have them interact with their characters in those films, especially with what we see people doing with AI content with old films/TV series on YouTube/Social Media.

It could easily be a global blockbuster making over a $1 Billion if done right with a good script.

I know Universal Studios writers are lurking on this forum….just get the contract made out to me so I can get my 10% of theatrical gross.

HaHa!!!

Those motherfuckers are lurking. And if they're reading this ... give the man @blackbull1970 much more than 10% theatrical gross.

His ideas are money!

Walking on eggshells and concerned about "slut shaming" it appears ...

When they are openly with no warning going back and "editing" library media?

We are royally screwed.

And I wonder where all the black people who said we all were being too senseless when t rump and friends were tearing down all statues and names and books and museums about BLACK HISTORY are now?
